교통표지판 인식을 위한 비젼시스템 (An Vision System for Traffic sign Recognition)

  • 본 논문에서는 영상처리를 이용하여 온라인으로 교통표지판을 인식하는 비젼 시스템을 제안한다. 제안된 시스템은 넓은 두 개의 카메라, 즉 광각렌즈(wide-angle lends)와 망원렌즈(telephoto lends)를 장착하였고, 이미지처리 보드가 있는 PC로 구성되었다. 이 시스템은 색상, 밝기, 형태 등과 같은 정보를 이용하여 광각이미지의 교통표지판을 추출한 다음, 보다 큰 이미지에서 정확한 표지판 후보영역을 추출하기 위해 망원렌즈에서 포착된 이미지를 이용하여 처리하였다. 실험결과로써 수동으로 촬영한 비디오 연속장면에서 포착한 영상을 시용하여 실험한 결과 속도표지판은 추출율 96.5%, 인식률 34.4% 그리고 안내표지판은 추출율 100%, 인식률 40%의 결과를 나타내었다. 또한 간단한 실행과정으로 빠른 인식률을 얻을 수 있었으며, 도로상에서의 실험으로 시스템의 효용성을 입증하였다.

Hysteresis Loops, Critical Fields and Energy Products for Exchange-spring Hard/soft/hard Trilayers

  • Macroscopic hysteresis loops and microscopic magnetic moment distributions have been determined by a three-dimensional (3D) model for exchange-coupled Sm-Co/${\alpha}-Fe$/Sm-Co trilayers with in-plane collinear easy axes. These results are carefully compared with the popular one-dimensional (1D) micromagnetic models and recent experimental data. It is found that the results obtained from the two methods match very well, especially for the remanence and coercivity, justifying the calculations. Both nucleation and coercive fields decrease monotonically as the soft layer thickness $L^s$ increases while the largest maximum energy product (roughly 50 MGOe) occurs when the thicknesses of hard and soft layers are 5 nm and 15 nm, respectively. Moreover, the calculated angular distributions in the thickness direction for the magnetic moments are similar. Nevertheless, the calculated nucleation and pinning fields as well as the energy products by 3D OOMMF are systematically smaller than those given by the 1D model, due mainly to the stray fields at the corners of the films. These demagnetization fields help the magnetic moments at the corners to deviate from the previous saturation state and facilitate the nucleation. Such an effect enhances as $L^s$ increases. When the thicknesses of hard and soft layers are 10 nm and 20 nm, respectively, the pinning field difference is as large as 30%, while the nucleation fields have opposite signs.

  • Pulmonary bullae are air-filled spaces within the lung parenchyma that result from the destruction, dilatation and confluence of adjacent alveoli. Pulmonary bullae are found most often in healthy, middle aged, large breed or deep-chested dogs that have no previous history of lung disease and bulla may occur as a result of emphysema, inflammation or trauma. Clinical signs include respiratory distress, anorexia, depression and tachypnea. In this study, a dog with respiratory distress by traffic accident was diagnosed as pulmonary bullae with pneumothorax using radiography at Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital, GNU. In radiographs, various sized, smooth margin, well defined, oval shaped, gas or fluid filled multiple bullae are shown in the left cranial, left caudal and right accessory lobes. At the initial stage of observation, there were indications of four bullae, two of which were not found in the following radiograph. At the same time, there were serious indications of lung consolidation that caused respiratory distress of patient. Ultimately, the patient was expired after ten hours.

Effects of traffic-induced vibrations on bridge-mounted overhead sign structures

  • Large-amplitude vibration of overhead sign structures can cause unfavorable psychological responses in motorists, interfere with readability of the signs, and lead to fatigue cracking in the sign structures. Field experience in Texas suggests that an overhead sign structure can vibrate excessively when supported within the span of a highway bridge instead of at a bent. This study used finite element modeling to analyze the dynamic displacement response of three hypothetical sign structures subjected to truck-passage-induced vertical oscillations recorded for the girders from four actual bridges. The modeled sign bridge structures included several span lengths based on standard design practices in Texas and were mounted on precast concrete I-girder bridges. Results revealed that resonance with bridge girder vertical vibrations can amplify the dynamic displacement of sign structures, and a specific range of frequency ratios subject to undesirable amplification was identified. Based on these findings, it is suggested that this type of sign structure be located at a bridge bent if its vertical motion frequency is within the identified range of bridge structure excitation frequencies. Several alternatives are investigated for cases where this is not possible, including increasing sign structure stiffness, reducing sign mass, and installing mechanical dampers.

  • The traditional outdoor advertising market has been stagnant recently, but the digital advertising market has been steadily increasing, and the digital signage market has been expanding despite the recent corona pandemic. However, in terms of hardware, new displays are required due to excessive power consumption, lack of visibility in sunlight, and continuous operating expenses. Since the e-paper display does not require a light emitting device therein, it is advantageous to solve above problems. In addition, it has the advantage of consuming power only when converting an image due to bistability, so it is suitable as hardware that implements images rather than moving pictures. Currently, one of the most successful examples of commercializing e-paper displays is ESL devices. According to a recent market study, the market for large-sized panels larger than 10 inches has grown at an annual rate of 21.6%, and the market is expected to exceed 30% by 2026. It is judged that it will be relatively easy to apply the roll-to-roll technology, which is currently developing the technology applied to OLED, to the e-paper display. Therefore, mass production technology and market expansion for ESL panel enlargement are expected, and a new market is also expected to be formed at the same time. New markets will be traffic signs, public displays, billboards, façades, kiosks, digital signage, and so on.

흉부 손상과 함께 우상지에 절단에 가까운 열창을 입은 교통 사고 환자에서 발견된 폐동맥 내 이물질 - 1예 보고 - (A Foreign Body Found in the Pulmonary Artery of a Traffic Accident Victim with a Chest Injury and Near-amputation of the Upper Extremity - A case report -)

  • 52세 여자는 승용차 조수석에 앉아가다가 타차와 충돌후 다발성 늑골골절과 혈기흉과 함께 다량의 출혈을 야기한 우측 전완의 절단에 가까운 손상을 입었다. 응급실에 도착시 명료하지 못한 의식과 저혈압의 소견을 보였다. 혈액량 감소 쇼크로 판단되어 다량의 혈액과 수액을 급속수액주입기(레벨 1)를 이용하여 좌측 쇄골하정맥관을 통해 주입하였다. 폐좌상의 소견이 호전되었을 때 일반 흉부 X선 사진의 좌폐야에 이물질이 확인되었다. 폐동맥조영술에서 15 cm 정도의 이물질이 좌측 폐기저동맥에 있었다. 경피적 중재시술을 통해 혈관 겸자로 잡아 제거할 수 있었다.

CCTV 카메라를 이용한 도로시정측정시스템의 성능평가 및 경제성 분석 (Performance Evaluation and Economic Analysis for the Road Visibility Measurement System using the CCTV Camera)

  • 안개로 인한 대형교통사고를 예방하기 위한 안개경고시스템의 핵심요소는 시정을 측정하는 장치이며, 최근 고가의 안개센서 보다 인간의 시정감각과 유사하면서도 저렴하고 정확한 시정측정장치에 대한 필요성이 증대되고 있다. 본 논문은 도로의 CCTV 카메라를 이용하여 시정을 측정하기 위해 개발된 도로시정측정시스템(RVMS)의 성능 평가 방법 및 결과를 제시하고, 고속도로 등 도로 적용에 따른 경제성과 활용방안을 제시한다. 성능평가는 여주시험도로에 전용 CCTV 카메라, 안개센서, 목측을 위한 시정표지를 설치하고 시험운영결과를 DVR에 기록하여, 특정 안개발생 시간대에 대해 RVMS와 안개센서 결과를 목측결과와 비교분석하였다. 실험결과, 목측을 기준으로 RVMS가 안개센서 대비 높은 측정안정성과 정확성을 가진 것으로 분석되었다. 또한, 본 논문에서는 RVMS가 기존 안개센서 대비 높은 경제성을 가지고 있음을 제시하고 RVMS의 다양한 활용방안을 제시한다. 높은 성능과 경제성을 가진 RVMS의 적절한 활용은 안개발생시 도로 이용자의 교통사고 예방뿐만 아니라 광역 시정정보 수집 및 활용에 획기적인 계기를 마련할 것으로 기대된다.

감천항 선박교통 특성을 반영한 도등 효용성 분석 (Effectiveness of Leading Light by Reflecting the Characteristics of Marine Traffic at Gamcheon Port)

  • 본 연구는 현재 감천항에 입항하는 선박교통 특성을 반영하여 감천항 도등의 효용성을 검토하였다. 감천항 도등은 1996년 4,000TEU 컨테이너선 출입항을 위해 감천항 항로표지 보완 기본설계과정에서 제안되어 설치되었다. 이후 부산지방해양수산청의 감천항 정온도 향상을 위한 기존 외곽 시설 재배치 검토 연구를 통해 50,000DWT급 일반 화물선 입항 대응 및 한진 부두의 크레인 높이를 반영한 도등으로 개선되었다. 그러나 현재 감천항의 해상교통 특성을 보면 해상교통 혼잡도도 원활하고 대형선박 보다는 10,000톤 이하의 중소형 선박 비중이 높아 대형선박 입항을 대응하기 위해 개선된 도등의 효율성은 감소되었다고 볼 수 있다. 그러나 입항선박의 규모에 따른 변화 추이를 보면 30,000톤 이상선박의 입항비율의 연평균증가율(CAGR)이 8.45%로 증가되고 있어 향후 대형선박의 입항비중 증가에 대한 대비를 위해서는 감천항 도등을 필수 등화로 유지하는 것이 필요하다. 따라서 도등을 철거할 경우 감천항 항로의 협소한 공간 특성상 입출항 선박이 조우하는 경우에는 충돌의 위험이 증가하여 항해자에게 큰 부담이 될 수 있기 때문에 도등의 기능은 유지하는 대신 전도등을 이전설치 하여 유지보수에 대한 부담을 경감시키는 방법과 도등의 기능 대신 지향등을 설치하는 방법을 고려해 볼 수 있다. 지향등 설치 시 인근 부산북항에 설치된 Single Sector Lights가 명확한 중시선을 제공하지 못하여 지점에 따라 명확한 구분이 어려움에 따라 이용자 만족도가 떨어지는 부분을 개선할 수 있는 Double Sector Lights를 설치를 고려해볼 수 있다.

로버트 벤투리와 알도 로시 건축에서 도시 경관의 의미와 해석에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Meaning and interpretation of Urban Landscape in Architecture of Robert Venturi and Aldo Rossi)

  • After the modern age, the rapid urbanizationhad a big impact on the then architecture. R. Venturi and A. Rossi are two of the leading architects, developing architecture in cities in the US and Europe respectively. This study shed light on a tangible and intangible meaning and interpretation of urban landscapes through their architectural thoughts and architectures. The followings are the physical and intangible meaning and interpretation in architectural thoughts and works of those two architects. Venturi understood that iconological landscapes at the roadside in large citiesare the nature of physical landscapes. To Venturi, the façades of buildings at the roadside are a part of signage such as traffic lights and road signs, and those façades have the meaning of symbolic systems beyond simple physical landscapes. To A. Rossi, types of buildings as physical townscapes are a key role supporting raw data of classification in architecture. And also, those types have significance of the basic data shedding light on the principles and history of cities. For intangible factors in R. Venturi's architecture, daily routine, function and use, time, a use for a building and others form complex architecture. And also, those factors describe shared values of the same period as the façades of buildings and complex symbols and formative lexicons in metaphorical terms. For A. Rossi's intangible factors, 'collective memory' is buried in inhabitants of the city, and with that, the city is a place for memory to its inhabitants. What is more, cities' monuments have intangible landscapes like 'sustainability', 'permanence' and so on. With lots of events happening throughoutcities, those monuments are the whole images of cities giving the value to the urban buildings that reside in cities. Finally, R. Venturi's all-encompassing complex architecture concept was extended on a tangible and intangible point of townscapes. It was found that A. Rossi's tangible thought was formed from the whole landscape of historic cities in then Italy as the background of time and place. Also, With types of urban buildings and 'collective memory', A. Rossi drew architectural norms and formats of unchangeable types.
