방향성 응고법으로 성장된 대형(240kg) 다결정 규소 잉곳의 성장 및 특성평가 (Growth and characterization of 240kg multicrystalline silicon ingots grown by directional solidification)

  • 태양전지의 제조가격의 저가화를 위한 노력이 다각적으로 진행되고 있다. 이중에 하나가 규소 잉곳의 대형화이다. 가로 세로 69cm무게 240kg의 초대형 규소 잉곳을 자동화된 결정성장로를 이용하여 제조하였다. 이 방법은 규소 용체의 열을 하부 흑연 기판을 아래로 이동하면서 축출함으로써 방향성 응고를 유도하고 있다. 이 방법으로 제조된 규소 잉곳을 평가하여 본 결과 전기적, 구조적으로 매우 균일하고 태양전지의 제조에 적합한 것으로 판명되었다.

Wideband Slow Light in a Line-defect Annular Photonic-crystal Waveguide

  • In this theoretical study, a line-defect photonic-crystal waveguide hosted in an annular photonic crystal was demonstrated to provide high-performance slow light with a wide band, low group-velocity dispersion, and a large normalized delay-bandwidth product. Combined with structural-parameter optimization and selective optofluid injection, the normalized delay-bandwidth product could be enhanced to a large value of 0.502 with a wide bandwidth of 58.4 nm in the optical-communication window, for a silicon-on-insulator structure. In addition, the group-velocity dispersion is on the order of $10^5$ ($ps^2/km$) in the slow-light region, which could be neglected while keeping the signal transmission unchanged.

  • The development of deformation texture in FCC polycystalline metals during rolling was simulated by the finite element analysis using a large-deformation, elaatic-plastic, rate-dependent polycrystalline model of crystal plasticity. Different plastic anisotropy due to different orientation of each crystal makes inhomogeneous deformation. Assuming plane strain compression condition, the simulation with a high rate sensitivity resulted in main component change from Dillamore at low rate sensitivity to Brass component.

  • 본 논문은LBO 결정성장 및 응용과 높은 점성을 갖는 용액에서 결정성장의 열역학과 동역학의 모델에 관하여 연구하였다. 결정공명과 press-controlled oscillator의 특성에 대한 측정은 이러한 종류의 결정이 많은 응용 가능서을 갖는 압전 결정재료의 한 종류임을 나타내 준다.

Dispersion stability of ultra-fine $BaTiO_3$ suspensions in aqueous medium

  • The effect of pH and particle size on the dispersion stability of ultra-fine $BaTiO_3$ suspensions in aqueous medium have been investigated by means of zeta potential, sediment experiments, and powder properties (particle analysis, specific surface area) etc. Zeta potential as a function of pH for two particles of different size increases from -75 to +10 mV with decreasing pH from 8.5 to 1.4. The curve of zeta potential for small particle (150 nm) has slow slope than that of large particle (900nm), giving IEP (isoelectric point) value of pH=1.6 for small particle and pH=1.9 for large particle respectively, which means that it is more difficult to control zeta potential with pH fur small particle than large particle. The dispersion stability of $BaTiO_3$ particles in aqueous medium was found to be strongly related with the agglomeration of colloidal suspensions with time through the sedimentation behaviors of colloidal particles with time and pH value.

Fabrication of a high magnetization YBCO bulk superconductor by a bottom-seeded melt growth method

  • A large grain YBCO bulk superconductor is fabricated by the top-seeded melt growth (TSMG) method. In the TSMG process, the seed crystal is placed on the top surface of a partially melted compact and therefore the seed crystal is frequently tilted during the melt process due to intrinsic unstable nature of Y211 particle +liquid phase mixture. In this work, we report the successful growth of single-domain YBCO bulk superconductors by a bottom-seeded melt growth (BSMG) method. Investigations on the trapped magnetic field and the microstructures of the synthesized specimens show that a bottom-seeded melt growth method has hardly affected on the crystal growth behavior, the microstructure development and the magnetic properties of the large grain YBCO bulk superconductors. The bottom-seeded melt growth method is clearly beneficial for the stable control of seed orientation through the melt process for the fabrication of a large grain YBCO bulk superconductor.

  • The thermal behavior of Flow Pattern Defect (FPD) and Large Pit (LP) in Czochralski Silicon crystal was investigated by applying high temperature annealing ($\geq$$1100^{\circ}C$) and non-agitated Secco etching. For evaluation of the effect of LP upon device performance/yield, commercial DRAM and ASIC devices were fabricated. The results indicated that high temperature annealing generates LPs whereas it decreases FPD density drastically. However, the origins of FPD and LP seemed to be quite different by not showing any correspondence to their density and the location of LP generation and FPD extinction. By not showing any difference between the performance/yield of devices whose design rule is larger than 0.35 $\mu\textrm{m}$, LP seemed not to have detrimental effects on the performance/yield.

  • $La_{1/3}NbO_3$$La_{1/3}TaO_3$의 대형 단결정을 적외선 용융대역법으로 제작하여 A-자리 공공이 유전 특성에 미치는 영향에 대하여 조사하였다. Weissenberg 및 Precession 사진에서 $La_{1/3}TaO_3$ 결정의 대칭성은 tetragonal 이며, 격자정수는 a $\approx$ 0.397, b $\approx$ 0.397, c $\approx$ 0.775이다. 유전이상은 $2/3La^{3+}$ 이온이 공공자리로의 이동에 기인한 것으로 추측하였다.

  • A large NaX type zeolite crystal of a uniform particle size of 20${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ are grown with various H2O content by hydrothermal reaction and added seed crystal (2~3 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$) to reactant solution as a function of different adding seed levels from 3 to 15 %. The result that increased purity of NaX zeolite above 95% and homogeneity of crystal size by increasing adding seed levels, also decreased crystallization time. It was explained that adding seed to synthesis solution leaded out increase of surface area of physical contact reaction and directed growth of seed crystal, so more rapid consumption of reaction gel as increase seeding levels.
