영구자석 배열을 이용한 능동형 자기재생 냉동기에 대한 실험적 연구 (Experimental investigation on the room temperature active magnetic regenerator with permanent magnet array)

  • In this study, a room temperature AMRR (Active magnetic regenerative refrigerator) was fabricated, and experimentally investigated. Gadolinium (Gd) was selected as a magnetic refrigerant with Curie temperature of 293 K. Permanent magnet was utilized to magnetize and demagnetize the AMR. To produce large magnetic field above 1 T in the magnetic refrigeration space, a special arrangement of permanent magnets, so called Halbach array, is employed. Sixteen segments of the permanent magnets magnetized different direction, constitute a hollow cylindrical shaped permanent magnet. The AMR is reciprocated along the bore of the magnet array and produces cooling power. Helium is selected as the working fluid and a helium compressor is utilized to supply helium flow to the regenerator. The fabricated AMRR has different structure and compared to a convectional AMRR since it has an additional volume after the regenerator. Therefore, the cooling ability is generated not only by magnetocaloric effect of magnetic refrigerant but also by the pulse tube effect. It is verified that the cooling ability of AMR is increased due to the magnetocalric effect by the fact that the temperature span becomes $16^{\circ}C$ while the temperature span is only $8^{\circ}C$ when the magnetic field is not applied to the regenerator.

  • Removal of iron oxide scale from feed-water in thermal power plant can improve power generation efficiency. We have proposed a novel scale removal system utilizing High Gradient Magnetic Separation (HGMS). This system can be applied to high temperature and pressure area. We have conducted the lab-scale model experiments using ${\varphi}50mm$ filters and it demonstrated high removal efficiency in HGMS, but scale-up of the system is required toward practical use. In this study, we conducted a large scale mock-up HGMS experiment. We used the superconducting solenoidal magnet with ${\varphi}400mm$ bore and demonstrated that our HGMS system can achieve sufficient scale removal capacity that is required to introduce into both off-line and on-line system.

  • CFT구조의 기둥-보 접합부는 강관의 국부좌굴을 방지하기위해 다이아프램이 필요하다. 외측다이아프램 형식은 관통다이아프램 형식보다 콘크리트의 충전성이 좋으나 시공성과 건축설비와 공조하는 측면에서 불편함이 있다. CFT구조 접합부의 상부 다이아프램은 외측다이아프램 형식으로 하고 하부 다이아프램은 관통다이아프램 형식으로 하였다. 이것은 건축물에서 바닥슬래브가 있으므로 상부 다이아프램은 바닥슬래브와 일체가 되고 하부 다이아프램으로 관통다이아프램을 적용하여 건축설비와의 마찰을 피하고자 한 것이다. 결과적으로 충전성을 개선시킨 CFT구조의 구조성능은 상, 하부 모두 관통다이아프램을 적용한 구조와 비교하면 동일하다는 것을 알 수 있다.

수소가스사고의 피해범위 (Hazard Distance from Hydrogen Accidents)

  • 수소가스의 제트 누출에 의한 확산, 화재, 그리고 폭발에 의한 위험 범위를 분석하고, 안전거리 기준을 설정하기 위한 위험거리를 확산, 화재, 그리고 폭발에 대한 단순한 예측 식들을 제시하였다. 핀홀에 의한 누출과 같은 소량 수소가스 누출속도에 있어서 피해거리는 제트누출 확산에 의한 피해거리가 제트화재에 의한 피해거리보다 크며, 압력의 제곱근에 그리고 누출 홀의 직경에 비례하고 이는 수 십 미터에 이른다. 배관의 완전 파손 또는 저장 탱크의 큰 홀 발생과 같은 대량의 수소가스 누출속도에서는 제트화재의 피해거리가 개방공간의 가스운 폭발에 의한 피해거리보다 크며, 수 백 미터에 이른다. 수소충전소와 건물과의 최소이격거리 즉 안전거리 설정 기준을 대량 수소가스누출 사고시나리오를 기반으로 한다면, 도심지에 수소충전소는 안전거리 기준을 만족시키기 어려울 것이다. 따라서 대량의 수소가스 누출사고를 안전장치들을 통하여 예방하고, 안전거리 기준을 소량의 수소가스누출사고 기준으로 설정 할 수 있다. 그러나 대량누출 가능성이 있는 경우 학교와 병원 등 인구밀집 건물은 수 백 미터의 안전거리를 유지하여야 한다.

액상분사식 LPG엔진 인젝터의 후적 및 아이싱 특성에 관한 연구 (A Study of Droplets and Icing Characteristics on Injector in a Liquid Phase LPG Injection Engine)

  • Since the Liquid Phase LPG injection (LPLI) system has Advantages in power generation and emission characteristics compared to the mixer-type fuel-supply system, a variety of studies regarding LPLi system has been conducted and its applications are made in automobile industry. However, the heat extraction due to the evaporation of liquid fuel, causes not only a post-accumulation of fuel but also an icing phenomenon which is a frost of moisture in the air around the nozzle tip. Since there exists a difficulty in the accurate control of air fuel ratio in both fuel supply systems, it can result in poor engine performance and a large amount of harmful emissions. This research examines the characteristics of icing phenomenon and develops anti-icing bushing to prevent an icing on the surface of the injection tip. It was found that n-butane, which has a relatively high boiling point ($-0.5^{\circ}C$), was a main species of post-accumulation. Also the results show that the post-accumulation problem was allevaited the utilization of a large inner to outer bore ratio and smooth surface roughness. In addition, an icing phenomenon and its formation process were found to be mainly affected by the humidity and the temperature of inlet air in an inlet duct. Also, it was observed that an icing phenomenon is lessened using aluminum bushing whose end coincides with the end of fuel injection tip in length.

튜닝댐퍼를 갖는 초대형 저속 2행정 디젤엔진의 비틀림진동 특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Torsional Vibration Characteristics of Super Large Two Stroke Low Speed Diesel Engines with Tuning Damper)

  • 최근 조선소에서 고출력 디젤엔진의 요구에 의해서 초대형 저속 2행정 디젤엔진이 개발되었으며, 연속최대출력이 $8{\sim}14$실린더를 갖는 10만 마력 이상의 엔진을 사용할 수 있게 되었다. 이러한 엔진들은 열효율, 운전에 대한 신뢰성, 강인성 및 기동성은 뛰어나지만 크랭크축을 포함한 추진축계에서 높은 비틀림진동을 유발한다. 따라서 이 연구에서는 엔진설계자의 입장에서 비틀림진동을 줄이기 위하여 튜닝 비틀림진동 댐퍼를 갖는 추진축계의 비틀림진동을 이론적으로 검토하였으며 실험모델인 12K98MC엔진과 12RT-flex엔진에서 튜닝댐퍼의 성능과 동적거동을 확인하고 있다.

도심지 대단면 복합지반 NATM 과 TBM 터널공법의 비교위험도 분석 (Comparative risk analysis of NATM and TBM for mixed-face large-diameter urban tunneling)

  • 터널 공사 중 많은 문제를 야기시킬 수 있는 불확실한 지반상태 및 터널 공법에 따른 여러 리스크를 최소화 할 수 있도록 전반적인 위험도 평가를 터널 설계 시 반드시 수행하여야 한다. 본 연구에서는 도심지 및 하저터널 구간의 터널공법으로 NATM 또는 쉴드 TBM 적용시 공법별 발생할 수 있는 리스크에 대하여 분석하였다. 우선 연구대상 지역의 주요 리스크 항목을 선정한 후 공법적용시 발생 가능한 리스크와 그 영향을 검토하고, 각각의 리스크 발생가능성과 터널공사에 미치는 위험도에 따라 정량적으로 등급화 하였다. 이러한 리스크 분석을 통하여 주요 위험도 영향을 고려한 공사비 및 공기분석을 수행하고 터널공법별 비교위험도를 평가하였다. 본 연구결과를 바탕으로 복합지반으로 구성된 도심지 대단면 터널에 대해 리스크 발생을 최소화 할 수 있는 안전하고 경제적인 터널공법을 선정하였다. 단, 본 연구는 국한된 지층 및 특별조건에서의 비교위험도를 평가한 결과임을 밝혀둔다.

Aspiration-Retriever Technique for Stroke with Large Bore Intermediate Catheter : A Single Center Experience

  • Objective : Early successful reperfusion is associated with favorable outcomes in acute ischemic stroke (AIS). The purpose of this study was to achieve successful recanalization by a combined mechanical thrombectomy technique, the Aspiration-Retriever Technique for Stroke (ARTS), which is composed of a flexible large lumen distal access catheter and a retrievable stent as the first-line strategy of mechanical thrombectomy. Methods : We retrospectively reviewed 62 patients with AIS who underwent mechanical thrombectomy from 2018 to 2019 at our institute by a senior neurointerventionalist. Among them, patients who were treated using the ARTS technique with the soft torqueable catheter optimized for intracranial access (SOFIA®; MicroVention-Terumo, Tustin, CA, USA) as the first-line treatment were included. Patients who had tandem occlusions or underlying intracranial artery stenosis were excluded. The angiographic and clinical outcomes were evaluated. The angiographic outcome was analyzed by the rate of successful recanalization, defined as a Thrombolysis in Cerebral Infarction score of 2b or 3 at the end of all procedures and the rate of successfully achieving the first pass effect (FPE), defined as complete recanalization with a single pass of the device. The clinical outcomes included the National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) score, modified Rankin Scale (mRS), and mortality. Results : A total of 27 patients (mean age, 59.3 years) fulfilled the inclusion criteria. The successful recanalization rate was 96% (n=26) while the FPE rate was 41% (n=11). The mean post-procedural NIHSS change was -3.0. Thirteen patients (48%) showed good clinical outcomes after thrombectomy with the ARTS technique (mRS at 90 days ≤2). Postoperative complications occurred in seven of 25 patients : hemorrhagic transformation in six patients (22%) and distal embolization in one patient (4%). Mortality was 15% (n=4). Conclusion : Although the clinical outcomes using the ARTS technique with a flexible large lumen distal access catheter performed as the frontline thrombectomy in patients with AIS were not significantly superior than those of other studies, this study showed a high rate of successful endovascular recanalization which was comparable to that of other studies. Therefore, ARTS using the SOFIA® catheter can be considered as the first choice of treatment for AIS due to large vessel occlusion.

Design of 1 MVA Single Phase HTS Transformer with Pancake Windings Cooled by Natural Convection of Sub-cooled Liquid Nitrogen

  • A 1 MVA single-phase high temperature superconducting (HTS) transformer with BSCCO-2223 wire was designed in this paper. The rated voltages of each sides of the transformer are 22.9 kV and 6.6 kV respectively. Double pancake HTS windings arranged reciprocally will be used for the transformer windings, because of the advantages of insulation and distribution of surge voltage in case of a large power and high voltage transformer. Single HTS wire was used for the primary windings and four parallel wires were used for the secondary windings of the transformer with transposition. A core of the transformer was designed as a shell type core separated with the windings by a cryostat made of GFRP with a room temperature bore. The operating temperature of the HTS windings will be about 65K with sub-cooled liquid nitrogen. A cryogenic cooling system using a GM-cryocooler for this HTS transformer by natural convection of liquid nitrogen was designed. This type of cooling system can be a good option for compactness, efficiency, and reliability of the HTS transformer.

LPG엔진에서 이온프로브를 이용한 노킹 발생 위치 추정에 관한 연구 (Study on the Estimation of Knock Position in a LPG Engine with Ion-probe Head Gasket)

  • LPG has been a broad concern of pro-environmental alternative fuel for vehicles. Recently, the new Liquid Phase LPG Injection(LPLI) system extends the limit of power of LPG engine and gives a chance to substitute LPG engine for diesel engine of heavy duty vehicles that are the main resources of air pollution in urban area. Large bore size of heavy duty LPG engine derives a serious knock problem. To find an optimal MBT conditions, it is necessary to know how the flame develops in the combustion chamber and find where the knock positions are. In this study. the ion-probe head gasket was used to estimate the knock position. Inverse operation of the ion-probe signal provides the flame developing characteristics. The further the position is from the spark plug, the later the flame arrives and the more times knock occurs. The main factor that effects knock position is inferred a flor situation of mixed gas in the combustion chamber.
