자동차용 강판의 겹치기 $CO_2$ 레이저 용접에서 용접속도와 판재간격에 따른 용접특성 연구 (Effects of the Gap and the Speed on the Lap-Joint $CO_2$ Laser Welding of Automotive Steel Sheets)

  • Recently the laser welding technology has been applied increasingly for the automotive bodies. But the lap joint laser welding for 3 dimensional automotive body is new while the butt joint laser welding is well known as the tailored blank technology. In this study, the process window was found for the full penetration welding of the lap joint of the 1mm-thick high strength steel sheets. The limit curves and characteristic curves were suggested to define the boundaries and the contour lines in a space of the welding speed and the gap size. The characteristics of the weld sectional geometry were used to determine the limit curves. They are bead width, penetration depth and sectional area. After the observed data was analysed carefully, it was noticed that there was a transition point at which the sectional shape was changed and the bead area jumped as the welding speed was increased. Also a new concept of 'input energy Per volume' was suggested to distinguish the difference at the transition Point. The difference of sectional areas at the transition point can be related to the dynamic keyhole phenomena.

Detection of Second-Layer Corrosion in Aging Aircraft Fuselage

  • A Digital X-ray imaging system using Compton backscattering has been developed to obtain a cross-sectional profile and mass loss of corroded lap-splices of aging aircraft from density variation. A slit-type camera was designed to focus on a small scattering volume inside the material, from which the backscattered photons are collected by a collimated scintillator detector for interpretation of material characteristics. The cross section of the lap-joint is scanned by moving the scattering volume through the thickness direction of the specimen. The mass loss of each layer has been estimated from a Compton backscatter A-scan to obtain the thickness of each layer including the aluminum sheet, the corrosion layer and the sealant. Quantitative information such as location and width of planar corrosion in the lap splices of fuselages is obtained by deconvolution using a nonlinear least-square error minimization method(BFGS method): A simple reconstruction model is also introduced to overcome distortion of the Compton backscatter data due to attenuation effects attributed to beam hardening and quantum noise.

  • Failure predictions of composite single-lap bonded joints were performed considering both of composite adherend failure and bondline failure. An elastic-perfectly plastic model of adhesive and a delamination failure criterion are used. The failure prediction results such as failure mode and strength have very good agreements with the test results of joint specimens with various bonding methods and parameters. The influence of variations in the effective strength (that is, adhesion performance) and plastic behavior of adhesive on the failure characteristics of composite bonded joints are investigated numerically. The numerical results show that optimal joint strength is archived when adhesive and delamination failure occur in the same time.

CO2 레이저용접시 용접조건에 따른 플라즈마 방사신호의 특성연구 (A Study on Characteristics of Plasma Emission Signals with Welding Conditions in CO2 Laser)

  • Today, implementation of the defect detection in laser welding has been researched for a long time, but most studies have been made around thin plate within $1{\sim}3mm^t$. Therefore, this study was measured and analyzed light emission signals of the induced plasma in $CO_2$ laser lap welding of $6mm^t$ Zn primer-coated steel, and based on this analysis, research made an investigation into possibility of monitoring in thick plate welding. It was been analyzing the measured signals by RMS and FFT processing, as a results, we were able to confirm definite difference of two signals between humping bead and sound bead. Thus, possibility of real time monitoring in $CO_2$ laser lap welding verified experimentally.

  • Due to the bond failure of lap-spliced longitudinal bars very brittle failure is conducted in existing RC columns. This failure can be, however, prevented by providing partial lap spliced longitudinal bars. But the deformability of columns having various lateral confinements is not confirmed yet. In this study scale models with different confinements were tested to investigate characteristics of seismic behaviors. It was confirmed that deformability was increased dramatically with increase of lateral reinforcements.

일방향 복합재료 Single Lap 접합 조인트의 파손 모드 및 파손 강도 II. 파손 예측 (Failure Mode and Strength of Unidirectional Composite Single Lap Bonded Joints II. Failure Prediction)

  • 본 논문에서는 복합재료 접합 조인트의 다양한 파손 모드를 고려하여 파손 강도를 예측할 수 있는 방법을 제시하였다. 제시된 방법에서는 접착제의 탄성-완전 소성 재료 모델과 층간분리 파손 식을 이용해 접착제 파손 하중과 복합재료 부재의 층간분리 파손 하중을 동시에 계산하였다. 제시된 방법을 유한요소해석에 도입하여 복합재료 Single-Lap 접합조인트의 파손 예측을 수행하였으며 시험결과와 비교하였다 이를 통해 본 방법이 다양한 접합 방법에 따른 실제적인 파손모드 및 파손 하중을 정확하게 예측할 수 있음을 확인하였다. 또한 접착제의 유효강도(또는 접착 성능) 및 소성거동이 복합재료 접합 조인트의 파손 특성에 미치는 영향을 수치적으로 평가하였다. 이를 통해, 복합재료 접합조인트의 파손 강도는 접착제의 접착 성능과 항상 비례하지 않으며 층간분리 파손과 접착제 파손이 동시에 발생하도록 하는 것이 접합 조인트의 강도를 최대로 향상시킬 수 있음을 보였다.

용융아연도금 철근콘크리트 보의 부착강도 특성 (Characteristics of Bond Strength in Concrete Beams Reinforced with Galvanized Rebar)

  • 용융아연도금(galvanizing)은 콘크리트 구조물의 철근 부식 문제를 해결하기 위해 사용된다. 용융아연도금 철근 콘크리트 보의 부착강도 영향에 대한 자료는 거의 없는 실정이다. 따라서, 이 연구의 목적은 용융아연도금철근이 콘크리트 보의 부착강도에 미치는 영향을 파악하는데 있다. 용융아연도금철근을 사용한 부재와 일반철근을 사용한 부재의 구조실험을 통하여 겹침이음 거동과 부착강도 특성을 비교하였다. 실험변수로써 철근의 용융아연코팅 유무, 철근 직경과 겹침이음 길이를 고려하였다. 용융아연도금 철근콘크리트 보의 균열 및 파괴 특성을 파악하였다. 용융아연도금철근 콘크리트 보의 겹침이음부 휨 거동특성은 일반철근 콘크리트 보의 겹침이음부 휨거동과 유사한 것으로 나타난다. 또한, 용융아연도금철근의 사용은 일반철근을 사용할 때에 비해 콘크리트 보의 부착강도에 불리한 영향을 미치지는 않는 것으로 나타났다.

복합재-알루미늄 양면겹치기 조인트를 이용한 접착제의 극저온 물성 평가 (Evaluation of Cryogenic Performance of Adhesives Using Composite-Aluminum Double Lap Joints)

  • 극저온 추진제 탱크를 개발하는 과정에서 복합재와 알루미늄 라이너를 접합하기 위한 접착제의 선택은 탱크의 안전성과도 직결된 매우 중요한 문제이다. 따라서 적합한 극저온용 접착제를 선택하기 위해 3종류의 접착필름이 선정되었으며 극저온용으로 개발된 탄소섬유/에폭시와 라이너 재료로 사용되는 알루미늄으로 구성된 양면 겹치기 조인트 시편을 제작하였다. 제작된 시편을 극저온 환경챔버를 사용하여 상온과 $-150^{\circ}C$에서 인장실험을 수행하여 각 접착제의 접착강도를 비교하였으며 파손 특성을 분석하였다. 또한 양면 겹치기 조인트 시편의 각 구성재료의 온도에 따른 기계적 물성변화를 측정하였으며 이를 이용하여 ABAQUS를 통한 유한요소해석을 수행하여 양면 겹치기 조인트 시편의 인장시험결과를 분석하였다.

비내진 상세 기존 RC 교각의 비선형 거동특성 및 내진성능 (Nonlinear Behavior Characteristics and Seismic Performance of the Existing RC Piers without Seismic Detailing)

  • The seismic performance evaluation of the existing non-seismic detailed RC piers has risen as urgent task for rational and cost-effective seismic retrofitting works as well as development of new seismic design concept. The scale model test has been conducted to investigate nonlinear behavior characteristics and the seismic performance of existing piers with lap-spliced longitudinal reinforcements in the plastic hinge zone which are of the solid circular and the hollow rectangular section. The lap splice in this zone is found to cause premature bond failure. The experimental results show very poor seismic performance of circular section pier but relatively large ductility of the rectangular one.

  • Recently, the self-healing technique is being investigated to repair the damaged polymeric composites by the use of microcapsules with the healing agent. This technique can obtains both the damage detection and the damage repair simultaneously over the converntional repairing techniques. In this study, the effects of the catalyst ratio to the healing agent and thermal characteristics to the mixtures of healing agent are investigated through single lap shear tests and DSC. The Healing agents such as DCPD, ENB, and their mixtures are considered and Grubb's catalyst is used as a catalst.
