  • Transducer for ultrasonic linear motor with the symmetric and anti-symmetric modes was studied. The ultrasonic linear motor consists of two Langevin type piezoelectric vibrators that cross at right angles with each other in tip. In order to excite symmetric and anti-symmetric modes, the transducer must have a phase shift of 90 degree in space and time. Therefore, the tip of transducer moves on an elliptical motion. In this paper, the finite element analysis was used to optimize dimension and displacement of the transducer The ultrasonic motor was fabricated using the simulated result and the driving characteristics were measured. No-load velocity was 0.28[m/s] and the maximum efficiency was 30[%] in resonance frequency.

  • In this paper bolt-tightened Langevin type vibrator was designed using longitudinal-torsional vibration. These two vibrations make rotary displacement at the end of the vibrator. ANSYS was used to determine shape and dimension of the vibrator in addition to resonant frequency, displacement and stress distribution. This kind of vibrator can be applied for a brakeless and gearless rotary motor which has high torque at low speed.

  • AE sensor using lead-free ceramics should be developed for prohibiting environment protection. In this study, Langevin type AE sensor was manufactured as air backing structure. Here, the piezoelectic element was used as PZT(EC-65) and NKN, respectively. The resonant frequency of AE sensor using PZT was 143 kHz and the resonant frequency of AE sensor using NKN was 178 kHz. The waveform of AE sensor using NKN was responded more sensitively than that of AE sensor using PZT.

  • In this paper, we develope a dispersion model based on the Generalized Langevin Model. Thomson's well-mixed condition is the well known criterion to determine particle dispersion. But, it has 'non-uniqueness problem'. To resolve this, we adopt a turbulent model which is a new approach in this field of study. Our model was greatly simplified under the self-similarity condition, leaving model only two model constants $C_{0}$ and ${\gamma}$$_{5}$ that control the dispersion and spin which measures rotational property of the Lagrangian particle trajectory. We investigated the sign of spin as well as magnitude by using the Direct Numerical Simulation. Model calculations were performed on the neutrally stable boundary layer flow. We found that spin has weak effect on the particle dispersion but it shows the significant effect on the horizontal flux compared to the zero-spin model.

  • Piezoelectric ceramics can provide electro-mechanical transduction with high stresses but low displacement. To obtain larger displacements, several mechanical amplifying structures have been used. High alternating displacements can be obtained using resonant structure. In this paper, we designed three kinds of the bolt-tightened Langevin type ultrasonic vibrators whose resonant frequencies are 30[kHz], 40[kHz]. FEM(Finite Element Methode) was employed to calculated the resonant frequencies and maximum displacements of designed vibrators. The designed resonant frequencies and computer calculated frequencies were coincided. When input voltages were increased, maximum displacements were also raised. ANSYS was used to find resonant frequencies and calculate displacements of vibrators.

  • Piezoelectric torsional transducers have been fabricated to generate torsional waves in a rod. The principle of generating torsional wane is based on the use of the circumferential shear motion derived by axial voltage exerted on the piezoelectric disk poled in the circumferential direction. The natural frequency or the piezoelctric torsional dish has been reduced by fabricating Langevin-type torsional transducers. The natural frequecies of the fabricated transducers have been measured and have shown good agreement with the characteristics predicted by analysis.

  • An ultrasonic motor is a motor which uses vibration -a type of elastic vibration- to obtain a driving force, which then drives the motor using friction. In this paper, mode conversion type - single resonance mode ultrasonic rotary motor that use langevin type ultrasonic vibrator was studied. This model was proposed for the first time by Japanese Kumada in 1985. In this study, finite element analysis (FEA) of a stator and bidirectional driving characteristic of a rotor was newly obtained. The amplitude and phase of displacement and elliptical trajectory of beam was confirmed by FEA The fabricated motor was operated to clockwise and counterclockwise in 40.8 [kHz] and 44.2 [kHz] respectively. But bidirectional driving characteristics did not coincide each other.

  • We report an investigation of the statistical fluctuations of the two-mode laser output as the asymmetry parameter is varied. The above results relate to computer solutions of the coupled Langevin equations both with and without pumping fluctuations. We find that as the asymmetry parameter is changed positively, the mean intensity of one mode is increased because the normalized intensity auto-correlation is decreased so that the natural dwell time is lengthen. The laser output does respond to a sinusoidally injected asymmetry parameter for small pump parameter.
