In this paper, the characteristics of portable fuel cell system are introduced and the dynamic response of output voltage of fuel cell stack with internal humidifier is analyzed. When the output of the fuel cell (FC) stack is short-circuited for humidification, the output voltage of the FC stack rapidly drops. In order to maintain the load voltage in the required range, dynamic compensation methods are proposed: 1) installing a capacitor behind the output of the FC stack; 2) utilizing the bi-directional converter. Especially, bi-directional converter is used when short of the FC output is detected or predicted by algorithm using data which is measured during previous three cycles. These methods are simulated by PSIM 9.0, then experimental results from the fuel cell system prototype verify the validity of the proposed methods.

In this paper a micro solar energy harvesting system with MPPT(Maximum Power Point Tracking) control using a miniature PV(photovoltaic) cell of which the output is less than 0.5V is proposed. The MPPT control is implemented using linear relationship between the open-circuit voltage of a PV cell and its MPP(Maximum Power Point) voltage such that a pilot PV cell can track the MPP of the main PV cell in real time. The proposed circuit is designed in 0.18um CMOS process. The designed chip area is $900um{\times}1370um$ including a load charge pump and pads. Measured results show that the designed system can track the MPP voltage changes with variations of light intensity. The designed circuit with MPPT control delivers MPP voltages to load even though the load is heavy such that it can supply more power when the MPPT control is applied. The proposed circuit does not require any precharged battery resulting in more suitability for miniaturized self-powered systems compared to the existing works.

The solar cells should be operated at the maximum power point because its output characteristics were greatly fluctuated on the variation of insolation, temperature and load. It is necessary to install an inverter among electric power converts by means of the output power of solar cell is DC. The inverter is operated supply a sinusoidal current and voltage to the load and the interactive utility line. In this paper, the proposes a photovoltaic system is designed with a step up chopper and single phase PWM voltage source inverter. Synchronous signal and control signal was processed by one-chip microprocessor for stable modulation. The step up chopper is operated in continuous mode by adjusting the duty ratio so that the photovoltaic system tracks the maximum power point of solar cell without any influence on the variation of insolation and temperature for solar cell has typical dropping character. The single phase PWM voltage source inverter is consists of complex type of electric power converter to compensate for the defect, that is, solar cell cannot be develop continuously by connecting with the source of electric power for ordinary using. It can be cause the efect of saving electric power, from 10 to 20%. The single phase PWM voltage source inverter operates in situation, that its output voltage is in same phase with the utility voltage. The inverter are supplies an ac power with high factor and low level of harmonics to the load and the utility power system.
This study attempted to make comparisons in the magnitude of the applied power depending on gender, gliding direction and gliding grade when gliding treatment grade II and III under the Kaltenborn-Evjenth Concept$^{(R)}$ are applied to the caudal, ventral and dorsal shoulder joint using the loading cell equipment. As a result of load difference depending on gender, men showed a significantly higher load than women for all of Caudal Grade II/III, Ventral Grade II/III and Dorsal Grade II/III (p<.05). As a result of comparisons for load difference depending on the treatment direction, the ventral and dorsal loads were significantly higher than the caudal load for all of Grade II and Grade III (p<.05). As a result of comparisons for load difference depending on treatment grade, the load was significantly higher in Grade III than Grade II for all of the caudal, ventral and dorsal side (p<.05). Given the aforesaid results, it could be confirmed that the magnitude of the applied force at the same grade could be different depending on the direction and gender, when gliding II/III are applied to the caudal, ventral and dorsal of glenohumeral joint.
The various errors existing in a weight measurement system in most automatic egg sorting system available in Korean poultry farms have caused a large amount of economic losses to the egg producers. The object of this study was an importance of egg measurement system by changing both the number and the arrangements of load cells to reduce measuring errors. The results obtained were summarized as follow : 1. Four arrangements of load cells were selected as follows : layout I : Conventional one load cell method layout II : One load cell located as egg moving direction layout III : Two load cells located facing each other layout IV : Two load cells located as parallel with egg moving direction 2. The results of egg weight measurement according to four arrangements (Layout I, II, III, IV) showed that the average errors were 1.1218g, 0.5953g, 0.7786g, 0.2793g respectively. This indicated that the Layout IV (measuring by 2 load cells located parallel with the egg moving direction) caused the lowest average error and the best in precision. 3. The average vibration of axis X, y, Z were resulted as $5.1937{\times}10^{-3}G$, $9.3604{\times}10^{-3}G$, and $16.8657{\times}10^{-3}G$ respectively when sorting large sized egg. This indicated that the vibration of axis-Z was relatively higher than those of axis-X, and axis-Y.

In recent days, the application of ultrasonics has been increased in the field of engineering and medicine. The ultrasonic hardness tester to apply the principle of contact compliance method is entirely different from hardness tester in the past and in the practical use, the more pre- cisive measurement is required because it has a slight change of hardness value due to the difference of resonance frequency. Therefore, in this study, as one type of applicative transducers which can detect the optimum pressure load, ring type load cell was used in the measurement of ultrasonic hardness. From experimental results, it was compared ultrasonic hardness testing method with the other hardness testing methods. Also, the measurement error of ultrasonic hardness tester could be measured within .+-. 0.5 HRC F.S. in the case of 3.0Kg pressure load.

The top and bottom nozzles of PWR fuel assembly are connected by guide thimbles and an instrumentation tube that are connected with spacer grids. The fuel rods are inserted into the each cell of spacer grids. The loads acting on the fuel assembly are transmitted to the guide thimbles through the flow plate of top nozzle The axial loads applied to the fuel assembly are not equally distributed among the guide thimble due to the geometry of the top nozzle flow plate and spacer grid. In this study, the load concentration factors for the $17\times17$ fuel assembly were calculated. The analytical model fur the calculation of the load concentration factor of top nozzle flow plate was developed using ANSYS 5.6. The finite element analyses were performed using the model composed of top nozzle, guide thimble, and spacer grid. And, the analysis results were compared with the test results.

An efficient location management for mobile stations plays an important role in mobile communication network. This paper studies a movement-based registration(MBR) method with a selective paging scheme. In the movement-based registration method, a mobile station performs a location registration when the number of cell boundary crossings since the last registration equals to the given movement threshold. In the selective paging scheme, the network first partitions the location area of the called mobile station into a number of subareas and then pages each subarea one after another until the MS is found. To reduce the paging and registration load, we propose a modified MBR(MMBR) method in the aspect of minimization of signaling traffic on radio channels. First, we propose a new establishment of the paging area to reduce the paging load on radio channels and then analyze its effects. Next, we propose the MMBR to reduce the registration load. Numerical results show that our proposed movement-based registration provides the better performance compared with the conventional method.

This paper presents an optimal operation of microgrid systems and considering a tie-lines capacities that concerned each grid. The microgrid system consists of a wind turbine, a diesel generator, and a fuel cell. An one day load profile and wind resource for wind turbine generator were used for the study. For the grid interconnection, tie-line capacities were applied as constraints. The capacity constraints of tie-lines in production cost analysis are very important issues in the operation and planning of microgrid. In optimization, the Harmony Search (HS) algorithm is used for solving the problem of microgrid system operation which a various generation resources are available to meet the customer load demand with minimum operating cost. The application of HS algorithm to optimal operation of microgrid proves its effectiveness to determine optimally the generating resources without any differences of load mismatch.
