A Contactless Power Supply for a DC Power Service

  • It is expected that, in the future, DC power service will be widely used for photovoltaic home power generation systems, since DC consuming devices are ever increasing. Instead of using multiple converters to convert DC to AC and then AC to DC, the power service could solely be based on DC. This would eliminate the need for converters, reducing the cost, complexity, and possibly increasing the efficiency. However, configuration of direct DC power service with mechanical contacts can cause spark voltage or an electric shock when the switch is turned on and off. To solve these problems, in this paper, a contactless power supply for a DC power service that can transfer electric power produced by photovoltaics to the home electric system using magnetic coupling instead of mechanical contacts has been proposed. The proposed system consists of a ZVS boost converter, a half-bridge LLC resonant converter, and a contactless transformer. This proposed contactless system eliminates the use of DC switches. To reduce the stress and loss of the boost converter switching devices, a lossless snubber with coupled inductor is applied. In this paper, a switching frequency control technique using the contactless voltage sensing circuit is also proposed and implemented for the output voltage control instead of using additional power regulators. Finally, a prototype consisted of 150W boost converter has been designed and built to demonstrate the feasibility of the proposed contactless photovoltaic DC power service. Experimental results show that 74~83% overall system efficiency is obtained for the 10W~80W load.

  • The power conversion converter for driving the wireless power transfer system is can be into the two part of the DC power conversion rectifier and the high frequency dc-ac power conversion inverter. In this paper, The operating characteristics of the Class-${\Phi}_2$ resonant inverter have been investigated through by simulation and by experiment. It can be switched at a high frequency without the switching losses and the harmonics are reduced effectively due to the input LC filter. Its switching frequency is 1MHz and the input voltage is 96V which is the output voltage of LLC resonant converter. And its output peak voltage is 170V. The resonant inverter module operated at the commercial power source of 220V was built. And also the electromagnetic coupled resonance coils were designed for wireless power transfer with a 1MHz operating frequency. As a experimental result, the wireless power transmission was confirmed and it is varified the validity of the experiment.

  • This paper introduces a newly improved Ultra-FRFET that has much better reverse recovery characteristic than that of the typical MOSFET and presents its effectiveness in the HV-BLU system of LCD TVs. The reverse recovery time, $T_{rr}$ of Ultra-FRFET is shorter than 40nsec and the peak value of reverse current, $i_{rr}$ is also much smaller compared to the typical MOSFET's, which are sufficient to prevent the MOSFET’s failures without additional FRDs and diodes in HV-BLU system with a half-bridge resonant inverter topology worked by PWM method. In order to verify the validity, the loss analysis and the implementation results in cases when both the conventional solution using typical MOSFETs with additional FRDs and a new solution using Ultra-FRFETs are applied to a HV-BLU of 40" LCD TV are presented. As a result, the effectiveness of Ultra-FRFET was verified and the results are presented in this paper.

  • Integrated bidirectional OBC/LDC was developed to reduce the volume for elements, avoid space restriction, and increase efficiency in EV vehicles. In this study, a DC-DC converter in integrated OBC/LDC circuits was composed of an SRC circuit with a stable output voltage relative to an LLC circuit using a theoretical method and simulation. The resonant network of the selected circuit was optimized to minimize the power loss and element volume under constraints for the buck converter and the battery charging range. Moreover, the validity of the optimal model was verified through an analysis using a theoretical method and a numerical analysis based on power loss at the optimized resonant frequency.

  • The charging methods of electric vehicles are divided into wired charging and wireless charging. Restrictions on the use of charging infrastructure for wireless charging vehicles currently exist because most charging infrastructure uses the wired charging method. Thus, wired and wireless integrated charging system has been studied. In this system, a wireless charging system especially requires a control method for high-efficiency operation in consideration of a change in a coupling coefficient. Therefore, this paper introduces two control methods for the high-efficiency operation of wireless charging that can be applied to wired and wireless integrated charging systems. In addition, loss analysis is performed through PSIM simulation to select a more advantageous method for high-efficiency operation among the two control methods. To verify the simulation-based loss analysis result, the two control methods are applied to the actual wireless charging system, and the efficiency is compared through the experiments Based on the experimental results, a control method suitable for high-efficiency operation of the wireless charging method is selected.

  • 최근 철도차량용 보조전원장치는 시스템의 경량화를 위해 기존 60Hz 저주파 변압기를 제거하고 고주파 구동과 절연 특성을 갖는 '절연형 dc/dc 컨버터'를 적용하는 구조가 주목받고 있다. 본 논문에서는 '절연형 dc/dc 컨버터를 적용한 보조전원장치 구조'에 대해서 설명하고, 다양한 분석을 통해 보조전원장치의 고효율 및 경량화에 적합한 dc/dc 컨버터 및 구조를 제안하고자 한다. 대용량 IGBT 소자의 고주파 스위칭(경량화)을 위해 필수적인 '영전압-영전류-스위칭'특성을 갖는 '공진형 컨버터'를 활용하여 다양한 보조전원장치용 전력변환장치 구조(1-Stage와 2-Stage)를 제안하였고, 각각의 구조에 적합한 컨버터 회로를 선정한 후 설계 및 시뮬레이션을 통해 비교하였다. 1-Stage 구조의 경우 공진형 컨버터만을 사용하였고, 2-Stage 구조의 경우 공진형 컨버터와 공진형 컨버터의 입력전압 변동을 최소화하는 Pre-regulator를 적용하였다. Pre-regulator로서 감압 컨버터 또는 승압 컨버터를 각각 적용하여 서로 다른 2-Stage 구조를 구성하고 각 방식의 손실을 비교하였다. 회로에 사용되는 소자들의 전압 및 전류 스트레스를 고려하여 소자를 선정하고 시뮬레이션을 통해 동작을 검증하였으며, 손실 분석을 통해 고효율 및 경량화에 가장 적합한 구조 및 회로를 제안하였다.

  • The wireless power transfer system using electromagnetic resonance is consists of PFC circuit, LLC resonant converter, high frequency DC-AC inverter and ECR devices for wirelessly transmitting the power. The output voltage of the module with free input voltage is 1MHz, 230Vp-p. As a experimental result, the wireless power transmission is confirmed and it is varified the validity of the experiment.

  • The ac power conversion inverter provides the ac power to ECR device for wireless power transfer. In this paper, the operating efficiency of the class-${\Phi}_2$ resonant inverter has been studied through by experiment for optimal design. Its switching frequency is 1MH and the input voltage is 96V which is the output voltage of LLC resonant converter. And its output voltage is 230Vp-p. The efficiency is measured up to 84%.

  • 최근 신재생에너지 및 전기자동차, 통신 IT 서버 전원 및 가전기기 등의 발전에 따라 고 전력밀도(High Power Density), 고 응답(Fast Transient Response) 및 고정밀(Tight Regulation) 출력제어를 위한 다 출력 절연형 DC/DC 컨버터가 개발 및 연구되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 개별적인 정밀제어를 요구하는 다 출력 DC-DC 컨버터에 대한 내용으로 위상천이(Phase-shift) DC-DC 컨버터와 LLC 공진컨버터 제어개념을 하나의 주회로를 사용하여 위상천이제어(Phase-shifted Modulation, PM)와 가변주파수제어(Variable Frequency Modulation, FM)를 통해서 개별적으로 정밀 제어할 수 있는 하이브리드 다 출력 3레벨 DC-DC 컨버터에 관한 내용이다.

  • This paper presents the analysis and design of an active electromagnetic interference (EMI) filter (AEF) for the common-mode (CM) noise reduction of switching power converters. The features of the several types of AEFs are discussed and compared in terms of implementation. The feed-forward AEF with a voltage-sensing and voltage-cancellation (VSVC) structure is implemented for an LLC resonant converter to replace a multiple-stage passive EMI filter and thereby reduce CM noise. The characteristics and performance of the VSVC-type AEF are investigated through theoretical and experimental works.
