The attractions of Lycoriella ingenua to different LED light sources were investigated in the mushroom cultivations which were located in Yongin of Gyeonggi-do province and Buyeo of Chungcheongnam-do Province. The LED light sources which were used in the investigations were white, green, red, blue and orange. Numbers of Lycoriella ingenua to LED lights in Yongin and Buyeo were 132.9 and 3,272.5 to white LED source, 120.3 and 3,109.5 to green LED source, 105.5 and 1,910.1 to red LED source, 88.3 and 2,708.3 to blue LED source and 46.7 and 2,465.5 to orange LED source, respectively. The numbers of Lycoriella ingenua to LED light sources were 2.7~3.5 times higher than the ones of untreated.
We developed the high-power LED beacon and investigated the applicability of composite materials for the light-weight design of LED beacon. By means of the application of composite materials, the vertical deformation could be reduced by 17% and the total weight of LED beacon 8.9 kg comparable to 20% light-weighting against aluminum beacon. In thermal radiation test, the maximum temperature of LED package was measured to $63.5^{\circ}C$ under ambient temperature ($20^{\circ}C$), which is acceptable considering both performance and lifespan of LED packages. In this study, the applicability of composite materials was demonstrated for light-weight design of high-power LED beacon.
The objective of this study was to characterize the bactericidal effect of 461nm visible-light LED on three common foodborne bacteria: Escherichia coli O157:H7, Staphylococcus aureus and Vibrio parahaemolyticus. Tests were conducted against pathogen strains that were treated with 461nm LED for 10 h at $15^{\circ}C$. The E. coli (ATCC 43894, ATCC 8739 and ATCC 35150) and the S. aureus (ATCC 27664, ATCC 19095 and ATCC 43300) had average reductions of 2.5, 6.6, 1.5, 2.5 and 2.0 log CFU/mL, respectively, after they were exposed for 10 h to 461nm LED light (p<0.05). In contrast, V. parahaemolyticus (ATCC 43969) had 6 log CFU/mL reductions after it was exposed for 4 h to 461nm LED light. The results showed that both the Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria were inactivated with 461nm LED light exposure. Also, the Gram-negative bacteria were more sensitive to the LED treatment than the Gram-positive bacteria. These results show the potential use of 461nm LED as a food preservation and application technology.

There are several severe problems for LED device, the next generation's economy green lighting: as the temperature increases, the lamp efficiency decreases; if the temperature is over $80^{\circ}C$, the lifetime of lighting decreases; Red Shift phenomenon that wavelength of spectrum line moves toward long wavelength occurs; and optical power decreases as $T_j$ increases. Thus, Heat sink design that can minimize the heat of LED device is currently in progress. While the thermal resistance of COB Type LED was reduced by direct coupling of LED chip to the board, residential 13.5W requires Heat sink in order resolve heat issue. This study designed Heat Sink suitable for residential 13.5W COB LED down-light and selected the optimum Fin thickness through flow simulation that packaged the designed Heat Sink and 13.5W COB. And finally it analyzed and evaluated the thermal modes using contacting thermometer.

The high power COB(Chip on Board) LED, densely arranged chips on a board, are increasing to resolve heat problems in LED that has luminous semiconductor chips as main materials. In case of high-power COB LED, protection against heat is necessary due to the power consumption is high. Also if the temperature of device increases, the optical emission becomes less efficient and the life rapidly reduces due to thermal stress. This study packaged 13.5W COB LED and heat sink with difference form and produced 13.5W COB LED down-light heat sink by analyzing the thermal modes with Solidworks Flow Simulation. And finally it analyzed and evaluated the thermal modes using contacting and non-contacting thermometers.
We compared the clinical efficacy of LED therapy using 880 nm and 630 nm LED to test collagen accumulations in subcutaneous tissue of mouse after LED irradiation by measuring the quantity of collagen. 880 nm and 630 nm LED was irradiated on the back of ICR mouse given at $10.8J/cm^2$ followed for 30 minutes everyday for 5 weeks. Histological observation was performed by Hematoxylin & Eosin staining and Masson's Trichrome collagen staining. We also used Sircol soluble collagen assay kit for measuring the amounts of collagen in the mouse skin tissue after 1, 3, and 5 weeks post LED irradiation, respectively. Collagen generation was found at subcutaneous tissue, and the quantity of collagen in 880 nm LED group had grown more than that of 630 nm LED group at 5 weeks follow-up later. About 75% more efficacies for collagen generation were found in the group of 5th week of 880nm LED irradiation. The efficacy of 880nm LED could be more useful than 630 nm LED for synthesizing collagens in mouse subcutaneous tissue as time followed.
This study was conducted to evaluate the disinfection effects of Staphylococcus aureus, and Escherichia coli treated with 461-nm LED and pH 5 at $15^{\circ}C$ for 10 h. S. aureus strains were decreased by about 4 log CFU/mL after 461-nm LED irradiation treatment alone for 10 h. E. coli strains were inactivated by irradiation. However, when microorganisms were subjected to a combined treatment of 461-nm LED and pH 5, both strains were inactivated by irradiation for 7 h. The highest D-value was 5.05 h for S. aureus ATCC 27664 and the lowest D-value was 1.39 h for E.coli O157: H7 ATCC 35150 (p<0.05) with 461-nm LED irradiation. For the combined treatment (461-nm LED and pH 5), the highest D-value was 1.58 h for S. aureus ATCC 19095, whereas the lowest D-value was 0.83 h for S. aureus ATCC 27664 (p<0.05). These data showed that bactericidal effects of a combination of pH 5 with 461-nm LED irradiation were enhanced compared to 461-nm LED irradiation alone.

The bactericidal effects of 642, 521, and 461 nm LED were investigated on Escherichia coli O157:H7 and Staphylococcus aureus strains in TSB with pH 7.2, 4.0, and 3.5 for 10 h at $15^{\circ}C$. The bactericidal effect of 461 nm blue LED was the most pronounced compared to 642 nm and 521 nm LEDs at pH 3.5. When E. coli was exposed to pH 3.5 with 461 nm LED, populations of E. coli O157:H7 ATCC 43894 and 35150 decreased by 4 and 5 log CFU/mL for 2 h, respectively. Populations of E. coli ATCC 8739 decreased by 5 log CFU/mL for 2 h. Further, S. aureus ATCC 27664, 43300, and 19095 were inactivated by 4, 5 and 5 log CFU/mL for 2 h, respectively, at pH 3.5 with 461 nm LED. In conclusion, combined treatment with 461 nm LED and acidic conditions at low-temperature ($15^{\circ}C$) showed the greatest antimicrobial effects. This study suggests that LEDs may be potentially used as a method to maintain the safety of the food preservation technology.
Various light sources including LEDs (Light emitting diodes) affecting on shoot growth was examined using in vitro shoots of E. pellita. Generally, it appeared that ventilation treatment was the most important factor affecting on normal shoot growth, irrespective of irradiation sources. Ventilation resulted in better performance of the cultures under 100% blue LED radiation. These include better shoot growth, more number of leaves, more number of internodes, more number of axillary buds, and heavier dry matters. The highest total chlorophyll content was obtained under both cool-white fluorescent lamps and R5B5 (50% red LED + 50% blue LED). The value was $24.5{\mu}g/g$ and $20.1{\mu}g/g$, respectively. In addition, ventilation resulted in higher carotenoid content in all irradiation sources except 100% red LED radiation. In conclusion, shoot growth of E. pellita could be reached maximum by ventilation under R5B5 (50% red LED + 50% blue LED).
