  • Recent interest in the worldwide energy to increase, and energy savings of the energy for effective operation of the IT technology there is a demand. By using a low-power LED energy efficient energy use worldwide for a variety of studies have been conducted. In Korea, 20-30% of the domestic electricity consumption corresponding to the illumination in order to conserve energy used by various sensors associated with illumination control studies are underway. That is the next generation of energy began to pay attention to the LED light source, LED and Arduino In this paper, an ultrasonic sensor to control and want to maximize the energy efficiency of the management. Paper, the user is directly operating the separate controller that controls the LED light, instead of being recognized through human body detection LED light on / off to control the experiment and study verified. In this paper, we develop an interface that also allows them to maximize the efficiency of energy management and efficiency, accompanied by expansion of commercialization can be achieved.

  • In this paper, we propose a energy-saving LED module using K-band microwave motion detecting sensor. To oscillate K-band microwave signal, An oscillator using a hairpin-type microstrip resonator was designed to increase stability and make fabrication easier. To radiate the microwave signal, a two-channel(TX/RX) patch antenna arrays was developed. Wilkinson power divider and ring hybrid mixer were developed and applied to obtain Doppler shift from the received signal. Shield cans were installed to protect the stability of the signals and unwanted external noise. The proposed motion detection sensor was mounted on a demonstration LED module and the energy saving performance through pre-test was verified.

  • In this paper, we studied line coding technology tendency for high speed data communication at LED-ID (Identification) communication system in indoor environment. A LED-ID technology is a communication using visible ray (RGB) that come out in LED device. It is energy curtailment effect and possible in ubiquitous network service applications. The LED-ID system has the above advantages about that the communication throughout the whole room is enabled by high power lighting and lighting equipment with white colored LED which are easy to install and have good outward appearance. Therefore, the transmission by light waves is more suitable for wireless networks than by radio waves. We compared with the NRZ, AMI, 4B5B, HDB3, 8B10B line coding for efficient in error detection and serves data transmission of high speed.

  • Fast operation of a CNN based object detection is important in many application areas. It is an efficient approach to reduce the size of an input image. However, it is difficult to find an area that includes a target object with minimal computation. This paper proposes a ROI detection method that is fast and robust to noise. The proposed method is not affected by a flicker line noise that is a kind of aliasing between camera and LED light. Fast operation is achieved by using down-sampling efficiently. The accuracy of the proposed ROI detection method is 92.5% and the operation time for a frame with a resolution of 640 × 360 is 0.388msec.

  • TOP245P driver IC modeling technique are proposed for the LED Driver design. Analog behavioral model of TOP245P IC including the shunt regulator, under-voltage(UV) detection, over-voltage(OV) shut-down and SR flip-flop is developed by using PSPICE. The averaged-model and switching-model is applied to the LED driver simulation. The simulation results by the proposed TOP245P IC modeling technique are in good agreement with that in the data sheet and an experiment data.

  • An effective way to ensure that LEDs produce wanted light output is to use a current driving topology, because the brightness of LEDs is directly related to their current. However, this topology may lead to the lifetime shortening of a illumination system because over-currents may flow through non-damaged LEDs in case some LEDs are damaged. This paper presents an adaptive current control circuits for LEDs, which protect LEDs in a good state by limiting the driving currents according to the number of damaged ones. The proposed control circuits consist of a simple constant-current driver and a micro-controller which monitors the voltage of LED array without any auxiliary current sensors for fault diagnosis. And the driving current is automatically controlled into 6-levels according to the number of failures.

  • In this paper, we designed HW / SW interfaces for processing the signals of capacitive sensors like Electric Potential Sensor (EPS) to detect the surrounding electric field disturbance as feature signals in motion recognition systems. We implemented a smart light control system with those interfaces. In the system, the on/off switch and brightness adjustment are controlled by hand gestures using the designed and fabricated interface circuits. PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) signals of the controller with a driver IC are used to drive the LED and to control the brightness and on/off operation. Using the hand-gesture signals obtained through EPS sensors and the interface HW/SW, we can not only construct a gesture instructing system but also accomplish the faster recognition speed by developing dedicated interface hardware including control circuitry. Finally, using the proposed hand-gesture recognition and signal processing methods, the light control module was also designed and implemented. The experimental result shows that the smart light control system can control the LED module properly by accurate motion detection and gesture classification.

  • The aim of this research is to map the intellectual structure of the field of LED and optics during the period of 2000-2009. We utilize the scientometric tool of co-word analysis to reveal patterns and trends in the LED and optics field by measuring the association strengths of keywords (or IPCs). Data were collected from Science Citation Index Expanded (SCIE) and United Stated Patent and Trademark Office (USTPO) for the period of 2000-2009. Keywords were extracted from abstracts and further standardized using thesaurus. In order to trace the dynamic changes of the LED and optics field, the whole 10-year period was separated into two consecutive periods: 2000-2004 and 2005-2009. The results show that the LED and optics field has some established research themes and it also changes to embrace new themes.

  • In this paper, we studied the coding technique for flicker mitigation and BER performance improvement in visible light communication system. In order to increase the transmission speed of visible light communication, a multi-transmission multi-LED transmission system using a plurality of LEDs is being actively studied. However, when data is transmitted through N LEDs in a multi-LED visible light communication system using N LEDs, there is a continuous zero section in which 0 is transmitted simultaneously according to the data sequence, and since the transmission section of 1 is different, flickering Or, a phenomenon in which the dimming level changes occurs. The visible light communication system is a communication system that simultaneously performs communication and lighting functions. Therefore, transmission efficiency of communication and brightness of lighting must be considered at the same time. To solve this problem, we proposed a flicker reduction mapping that can alleviate flicker and dimming level problems, improve error detection and BER performance through coding mapping of each LED data sequence.

  • In order that a mobile robot can perform tasks in unknown environment localization of a mobile robot is essential task. In this paper, a new localization method for a mobile robot using an active landmark is proposed, which is very simple to implement. The landmark has a LED which can be controlled by a mobile robot via wireless communication. CCD camera gets two images of the landmark, one of which is with LED off and the other is with LED on. Because the landmark can be detected by using the difference image of the two images, detection time can be minimized. By using the characteristic points of the landmark, localization can be performed simply. A series of experiments are performed to evaluate the proposed method and the experimental results show that the proposed method can be applicable to the localization of a mobile robot.
