더덕과 일부 한약재 열수추출물의 혼합 비율에 따른 생리활성 (Physiological Functionalities of Hot Water Extract of Codonopsis lanceolata and Some Medicinal Materials, and Their Mixtures)

  • The aim of this study was to investigate the physiological functionalities of Codonopsis lanceolata, Glycyrrhiza uralensis, Chaenomeles sinensis, Crataegus pinnafida, and their mixtures. We also determined their antioxidative, fibrinolytic, and ${\alpha}-glucosidase$ inhibitory activities. The antioxidative activities of Codonopsis lanceolata, Glycyrrhiza uralensis, Chaenomeles sinensis, and Crataegus pinnafida were 79%, 88.3%, 89.9%, and 89.3% respectively. Their fibrinolytic activities were 0.80plasmin unit/mi, 0.57 plasmin unit/mi, 0.52 plasmin unit/mi, and 0.53 plasmin unit/mi respectively. The ${\alpha}-glucosidase$ inhibitory activity of Codonopsis lanceolata was 25%. The 10-fold diluents of Glycyrrhiza uralensis, Chaenomeles sinensis, and Crataegus pinnafida showed ${\alpha}-glucosidase$ inhibitory activities of 93.6%, 65.3%, and 61.3% respectively. In antioxidative activity tests of the medicinal plants mixtures at various ratios, the mixtures of Glycyrrhiza uralensis, Chaenomeles sinensis, and Crataegus pinnafida with Codonopsis lanceolata showed antioxidative activities of approximately 90%. In fibrinolytic activity tests mixtures(1:1) of Codonopsis lanceolata with Chaenomeles sinensis and Crataegus pinnafida exhibited increases of 23% and 24% in activity respectively. In ${\alpha}-glucosidase$ inhibitory activity tests, a mixture (4:1) of Codonopsis lanceolata and 10-fold diluted Glycyrrhiza uralensis showed an inhibitory activity of 98%, a mixture (3:1) of Codonopsis lanceolata and 10-fold diluted Chaenomeles sinensis showed an inhibitory activity of 69.6%, and a mixture (1:1) of Codonopsis lanceolata and 10-fold diluted Crataegus pinnafida showed an inhibitory activity of 50.2%. In conclusion, the mixtures of Glycyrrhiza uralensis, Chaenomeles sinensis, and Crataegus pinnafida with Codonopsis lanceolata will be used as a material for the development of biofunctional foods.

Effect of Growth Regulators on Organogenesis in Diploid and Tetraploid Codonopsis Ianceolata In Vitro Culture

  • This study aimed to investigate the effect of growth regulators on the formation of the organ in the in vitro propagation of diploid and tetraploid Codonopsis lanceolata, and gain the basic data for in vitro propagation of superior C. lanceolata. In the case of diploid C. lanceolata, the highestshoot formation (3.0) was observed at 0.5 mg·L-1 addition medium with low IBA concentration. The shoot formation of tetraploid C. lanceolata was suppressed by addition of IBA. In the addition of lAA, the shoot formation of diploid C. lanceolata was slightly higher at 1.0 mg·-L-1 addition medium than that of control group, whereas tetraploid C. lanceolata showed the highest number (5.4) from control group. In the case of NAA, the shoot formation of diploid and tetra C. lanceolata tended to decrease at higher concentration. In terms of BA addition, the shoot formation of diploid C. lanceolata was increased by the addition of BA, whereaswhile the growth of shoot was decreased by the addition of BA. In the case of tetraploid C. lanceolata, shoot was found to be formed by the addition of low concentration of BA, and the growth of shoot was inhibited with the higher addition concentration of BA. With the addition of kinetin, the shoot formation of diploid C. lanceolata was slightly higher than that of control group, and the formation of adventitious root was highest (5.3) in the control group. In the case of tetraploid C. lanceolata, the shoot formation was similar in all treatment groups, but the formation and growth of adventitious root were significantly lower than that of diploid C. lanceolata. In the case of TDZ addition, the shoot formation of diploid C. lanceolata showed the pronounced results at 5.0 mg·L-1 addition medium, and the growth of shoot was inhibited by the addition of TDZ. The formation of adventitious root was 5.3 and 4.9 in the control group and 0.1 mg·L-1 addition medium respectively. The formation of the shoot of tetraploid C. lanceolata showed better results with the higher concentration of TDZ, and the growth was better with the lower concentration of TDZ. The formation and growth of adventitious root were significantly slower than that of diploid C. lanceolata.

Characterization of Physiological Functionalities of Codonopsis lanceolata, Cornus officinalis S. et Z, and Their Mixtures

  • These studies were carried out to characterize the physiological functionalities of Codonopsis lanceolata, Cornus officinalis, and their mixtures. We investigated the antioxidative, fibrinolytic, and ${\alpha}$-glucosidase inhibitory activities of them. The antioxidative activities of Codonopsis lanceoiata and Cornus officinalis were 87% and 90%, respectively. Addition of salt to Codonopsis lanceolata and Cornus officinalis did not affect its antioxidative activities. In spite of fourfold addition of Codonopsis lanceolata to Cornus officinalis, the antioxidative activity was conserved at 90%. The fibrinolytic activities of Codonopsis lanceolata and Cornus officinalis were 0.78 plasmin unit/ml and 1.74 plasmin unit/ml, respectively. Addition of salt decreased the fibrinolytic activities of both Codonopsis lanceolata and Cornus officinalis. A mixture (3:1) of Codonopsis lanceolata and Cornus officinalis exhibited a 21% increase in activity. The ${\alpha}$-glucosidase inhibitory activities of Codonopsis ianceoiata and 100-fold diluted Cornus officinalis were 25% and 73%, respectively. The addition of salt to Codonopsis lanceolata and Cornus officinalis slightly decreased their ${\alpha}$-glucosidase inhibitory activities. According to the addition of Cornus officinalis to Codonopsis lanceoiata, the ${\alpha}$-glucosidase inhibitory activities of the resulting mixture were highly increased. We anticipate that these results will be used as basic data for the development of new bifunctional foods.

주부의 더덕 소비실태 및 기호도 조사 (A Study on the Consumption and Preference of Codonopsis Lanceolata by Housewives)

  • In this study, a survey was conducted to analyze the preference and conditions of consumption. A survey of 299 housewives from Seoul and the metropolitan area analyzedthe preference and the conditions of consumption, the general backgrounds and the actual state of diet and health management. According to the survey on the preference of Codonopsis lanceolata, 52.8% answered a traditional market place as the place they most commonly purchased Codonopsis lanceolata. When purchasing Codonopsis lanceolata, 49.2% purchased unwashed. For the frequency of intake, 38.5% of the housewives surveyed answered 1-2 times per year and 38.5% perceived Codonopsis lanceolata a very healthy food. Among the subjects, 46.2% answered their spouse as the person who most likes Codonopsis lanceolata in the family. Regarding the question of why they preferred Codonopsis lanceolata, 39% answered because it was healthy., compared to 36.0% who answered high cost as the reason why they did not prefer Codonopsis lanceolata. Codonopsis lanceolata preference showed a notable difference according to age, average income, interest in health, and intake frequency (p<0.01).

더덕 음식 인식 및 더덕 음식 개발 필요성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Perception of Codonopsis Lanceolata Dishes and the Development of Codonopsis Lanceolata Dishes)

  • A survey was conducted to analyze the conditions of Codonopsis Lanceolata and Codonopsis Lanceolata dishes. The subject, 299 housewives from Seoul and the metropolitan area were surveyed on their general background and actual state of diet and health management. They were also asked 10 questions on the perception of Codonopsis Lanceolata, 8 on the foods using Codonopsis Lanceolata, and also the need for development of processed foods using Codonopsis Lanceolata, and their intention. This is the abstract so it is obvious that the following are yow result. The need for development of processed foods using Codonopsis Lanceolata showed $3.32{\pm}0.61$ and the subjects answered side dish ($3.60{\pm}0.65$) beverage ($3.26{\pm}1.09$), one dish foods ($3.19{\pm}0.71$), health foods ($3.14{\pm}0.9$) and dessert ($2.99{\pm}0.81$) as the order for the foods they wished to be developed. It can be concluded that cooking and processing methods reflecting the preference of housewives need to be developed.

더덕을 첨가한 양갱의 품질 특성에 관한 연구 (A Study of the Quality Characteristics of Yanggaeng Supplemented with Codonopsis lanceolata Traut (Benth et Hook))

  • This study investigated the anti-oxidation activities of fresh Codonopsis lanceolata Traut (Benth et Hook) and red beans, and also the quality properties of fresh Codonopsis lanceolata Yanggaeng to which raw Codonopsis lanceolata Traut (Benth et Hook) was added. The DPPH free radical scavenging activities of fresh Codonopsis lanceolata Traut (Benth et Hook) and red beans were 31.42% and 37.98%, respectively. Thus, that of red beans was rather the total polyphenol contents of fresh Codonopsis lanceolata Traut (Benth et Hook) and red beans were 5.74 mg/g and 4.14 mg/g respectively, and the total flavonoid contents of fresh Codonopsis lanceolata Traut (Benth et Hook) and red beans were 5.07 mg/g and 1.29 mg/g respectively. As higher amounts of Codonopsis lanceolata Traut (Benth et Hook) were added to Yanggaeng, the water content in the Yanggaeng continued to increase. Preferences were in the following order: 21%>12%>28%>7%>0%, and it was found that the optimal level for addition of fresh Codonopsis lanceolata Traut (Benth et Hook) was between 12% and 21%. It was also shown that adjusting the amount of ingredients or agar would improve the product quality.

산더덕과 재배더덕에 존재하는 토양미생물 및 향기 유발에 영향을 미치는 미생물 탐색 (Detection of soil microorganisms of an upland or cultivated Codonopsis lanceolata and investigation of them affecting on flavor substances)

  • We investigated microbial populations of an upland and cultivated Codonopsis lanceolata. The microbial populations from both types of soils were also investigated. There were more than 10 microorganisms existed in upland than cultivated one. The total viable cell counts of C. lanceolata from upland and cultivated one, especially in the upper zone, were 9.7x10$\^$6/ CFU/g and 4.2${\times}$10$\^$6/ CFU/g, respectively. As a results, upper parts of C. lanceolata in upland were considered to harbour approximately more than 2.3 fold higher microorganisms than in cultivated one. However, the total viable cell counts between the two soil habitat, that is, 1.2${\times}$10$\^$7/ CFU/g from upland and 1.0x10$\^$7/ CFU/g from cultivated, were not significantly different. We also examined the unique flavor producing microorganisms in the soil extract broth including 25% C. lanceolata extract. One microorganism was detected in upper pars of C. lanceolata and upland soil. No. 6, microorganism causing the characteristic flavor of C. lanceolata was continued as Actinomyces by microscopy.

더덕 추출물이 마크로파지 활성과 발효 중 젖산균 성장에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Extracts of Codonopsis lanceolata on Macrophage Activity and on the Growth of Lactic Starter Culture during Fermentation)

  • 더덕의 마크로파지 활성 효과를 평가하고, 발효유에 첨가 할 경우 젖산균 성장에 미치는 영향에 대하여 실시하였다. NO 분비능과 $IL-1{\alpha}$는 더덕 열수 추출물을 $1,000\;{\mu}g/mL$ 첨가하였을 때 유의성 있게 증가하였다. $TNF-{\alpha}$는 더덕 열수추출물 및 알콜 추출물 공히 $1,000\;{\mu}g/mL$ 첨가하였을 때 유의성 있게 증가하였다. 마크로파지 활성은 더덕 알콜 추출물 보다 열수 추출물이 더 높았다. 더덕 열수 추출물이 젖산균에 미치는 영향을 조사한 결과, 더덕 첨가량이 증가할수록 젖산균 성장이 억제되었고, pH는 완만히 감소됨에 따라 발효유에 더덕 열수 추출물을 첨가할 경우 Set type보다는 Stirred type이나 Drink type으로 해야 발효유 제조에 적합할 것으로 보인다.

더덕 잎, 줄기, 뿌리 부위의 Triterpenoid 사포닌 함량 (Triterpenoid Saponin Contents of the Leaf, Stem and Root of Codonopsis lanceolata)

  • Codonopsis lanceolata (Campanulaceae) has been used in traditional medicines, as its roots contain several kinds of 3,28-bidesmosidic triterpenoid saponin with high medicinal values. In this study, we induced hairy root-derived transgenic plants of C. lanceolata and analyzed triterpenoid saponins from the leaf, stem and root. Transgenic plants were regenerated from the hairy roots via somatic embryogenesis. The saponins are lancemaside A, B and E, foetidissimoside A, and aster saponin Hb. Transgenic plants contained richer triterpenoids saponin than wild-type plants. Major saponin lancemaside A was the most abundant saponin in the stem from transgenic-plant, $4.76mg{\cdot}1^{-1}dry$ stem. These results suggest that transgenic plants of C. lanceolata could be used as medicinal materials for the production of triterpene saponins.

더덕(Codonopsis lanceolata) 재배지 기생선충의 발생상황 (Studies on Plant Parasitic Nematodes in the Fields of Codonopsis lanceolata)

  • 더덕 (Codonopsis lanceolata) 재배지에서 발생 빈도와 서식 밀도가 높은 식물기생선충을 파악하기 위하여 3개도 34개 지역 더덕 포장에서 조사한 결과 검출된 식물기생선충은 Meloidogyne(뿌리 혹선충), Pratylenchus(뿌리썩이선충)등 10개 속(genus)이었는데, 그 중 뿌리혹선충은 97%의 포장에서 검출되었고, 검출된 평균 선충수도 1,700마리/토양 300$m\ell$ 이상으로 대단히 높았다. 또 논 토양보다는 밭 토양에서 검출율이 높았고, 평균 밀도도 2,450마리로 10배정도 많았다.
