  • LAMS(learning activity management system)[1] is one of the useful tools for designing and managing effectively the learning activities such as web search, chat, forum, grouping, and board. Even if LAMS has been upgraded to support the methods for making e-Learning contents conveniently, it does not have a method to communicate with external educational contents (EEC) made by external tools like Flash, Java, Visual C++, and so on. LAMS, which has been operated on Web environment, should manage all EECs like video and dynamic educational contents as educational contents in LAMS database. However, the current LAMS does not support the functionalities which can provide information of EECs to LAMS database and can also access any information about EECs from the database yet. In this paper, we propose the communication mechanism between the LAMS and EECs for solving the problem. In special, the mechanism makes many statistical data by using the information, and provides them for reflecting in education, and can control various learning management that was impossible under the original LAMS. Based on the proposed mechanism, teachers using LAMS can make more various educational contents and can manage them in the system.

  • The development of communication technology and the spread of computers and internet have affected to the field of education. In this paper, we design a learning process with LAMS to make the new education environment which is required in an information age. We made the learning environment with LAMS which develops the learner's algorithmic thinking faculty on some sorting algorithm, especially such as selection sort, bubble sort and insertion sort algorithm. In addition, we analyse the effectiveness of the learning environment. The designed contents were applied to elementary school students' learning and a questionnaire survey was conducted after a learning course. The research of the questionnaire shows that the learning system using LAMS motivates a learner for learning and provides a convenient learning environment.

  • Even after Hwang Woo Suk's research ethics scandal in Korean research fields, there are still research ethic problems that are present in the Korean society. In order to spread research ethics education around Korea, there needs to be sufficient amount of research ethics contents prepared, which then can be used to educate and put into action. Through the usages of the scope of research ethics, comparing and contrasting several examples from domestic illegal research acts and American research ethics education, and the Learning Activity Management Systems (LAMS), we would be able to develop a way to manage the research ethics education. Also, in order to fully use and apply the necessary contents and material for the research ethics education program in several universities, we would not only need to use the LAMS system to establish the training system, but also to spread the awareness of research ethics.

  • A lumen-apposing metal stent (LAMS) is a saddle-shaped stent with large flanges at both ends, thereby preventing stent migration and helping with approximation of the adjacent structures. We report the case of a 25-year-old female with remnant choledochal cyst which was successfully treated with LAMS after initial treatment failure with a plastic stent. Although complete excision of the cyst is the definite treatment of choledochal cysts, endoscopic ultrasonography-guided cystoduodenostomy can be considered in cases wherein surgery is not feasible and dysplasia is not present. LAMS may be preferred to plastic stents for effective resolution of remnant choledochal cyst and prevention of ascending infection.

  • In this paper, we propose a new Two-factor Authentication and Key Exchange(TAKE) protocol that can be applied to low-power PDAs in Public Wireless LAMs using two factor authentication and precomputation. This protocol provides mutual authentication session key establishment, identity privacy, and practical half forward-secrecy. The only computational complexity that the client must perform is one symmetric key encryption and five hash functions during the runtime of the protocol.

  • The aim of this paper is to help learners develop algorithmic thinking skill to solve a problem using LAMS and to draw their interest in learning through various learning activities to solve it. LAMS has the advantages of easy teaching contents' design and implementation and of an offer of sequential learning under various learning environments. The designed contents were applied to elementary school students' learning and a questionnaire survey was conducted. They showed positive responses, on the one hand, they hoped that various kinds of learning would be provided including not only data sorting but also technical contents related to computer. For further study, it is necessary to revise and supplement conceptual principals or contents of computer education in elementary and junior high schools.

  • Background/Aims: We compared outcomes between use of 15 vs. 20 mm lumen-apposing metal stents (LAMSs) in endoscopic ultrasound-guided gastroenterostomy (EUS-GE) for gastric outlet obstruction. Methods: Databases were queried for studies that used LAMS for EUS-GE to relieve gastric outlet obstruction, and a proportional meta-analysis was performed. Results: Thirteen studies were included. The 15 mm and 20 mm LAMS had pooled technical success rates of 93.2% (95% confidence interval [CI], 90.5%-95.2%) and 92.1% (95% CI, 68.4%-98.4%), clinical success rates of 88.6% (95% CI, 85.4%-91.1%) and 89.6% (95% CI, 79.0%-95.1%), adverse event rates of 11.4% (95% CI, 8.1%-15.9%) and 14.7% (95% CI, 4.4%-39.1%), and reintervention rates of 10.3% (95% CI, 6.7%-15.4%) and 3.5% (95% CI, 1.6%-7.6%), respectively. Subgroup analysis revealed no significant differences in technical success, clinical success, or adverse event rates. An increased need for reintervention was noted in the 15 mm stent group (pooled odds ratio, 3.59; 95% CI, 1.40-9.18; p=0.008). Conclusions: No differences were observed in the technical, clinical, or adverse event rates between 15 and 20 mm LAMS use in EUS-GE. An increased need for reintervention is possible when using a 15 mm stent compared to when using a 20 mm stent.

  • Background/Aims: Endoscopic ultrasonography-guided gastrojejunostomy is a minimally invasive method for the management of gastric outlet obstruction. Conventionally, a lumen-apposing metal stent (LAMS) is used to create an anastomosis. However, LAMS is expensive and not widely available. In this report, we described a tubular fully covered self-expandable metallic stent (T-FCSEMS) for this purpose. Methods: Twenty-one patients (15 men [71.4%]; median age, 66 years; range, 40-87 years) were included in this study. A total of 19 malignant (12 pancreatic, 6 gastric, and 1 metastatic rectal cancer) and 2 benign cases were observed. The proximal jejunum was punctured with a 19 G needle. The stomach and jejunum walls were dilated with a 6 F cystotome, and a 20×80 mm polytetrafluoroethylene T-FCSEMS (Hilzo) was deployed. Oral feeding was initiated after 12 to 18 hours and solid foods after 48 hours. Results: The median procedure time was 33 minutes (range, 23-55 minutes). After two weeks, 19 patients tolerated oral feeding. In patients with malignancy, the median survival time was 118 days (range, 41-194 days). No serious complications or deaths occurred. All patients with malignancy tolerated oral food intake until they expired. Conclusions: T-FCSEMS is safe and effective. This stent should be considered as an alternative to LAMS for gastric outlet obstruction.
