Electroacupuncture therapy was performed in 2 dogs with thoracolumbar disc disease. Case was a 3-year-old female chihuahua with a calcified disc between the 13th thoracic and 1st lumbar vertebrae. Treatment was done by electroacupuncture at San sho yu, Shen yu, Huan tiao and Fu yang-San yin jiao with the current of 0.5~8 volts, 30 Hz for 30 min. She could pass feces and urine 2 days, and walk 9 days after the beginning of the therapy. Case 2 Was a 6-year-old male cocker spaniel with 4 calcified discs(T12-T13, T13-L1, L2-L3 and L6-L7) and spondylosis(lumbosacral junction). Treatment was done by electroacupuncture at Tian ping, Bai hui and Pung kung yu with the current of 2~4 volts, 30 Hz for 20 min. He could pass feces 6 days, urine 8 days, and stand 21 days, after the beginning of the therapy.

This research was performed to examined the applicability of a fixed-biofilm process for the wastewater treatment of military installations. Utilizing plastic net media, synthetic wastewater-average $BOD_5$ cocentration was $192mg/l$ treated in the three sets of reactors that have 8 hours, 6 hours, and 4 hours of hydraulic retention time. The results of this experiment showed that the biofilm was not detached easily, and the reactor was not closed by excess biomass. The average soluble $BOD_5$ concentrations of effluent were $6.0mg/l$ with 8 hours of retention time, $11.3mg/l$ with 6 hours of retention time, and $19.4mg/l$ with 4 hours of retention time. Especially it was reduced to $5.7mg/l$ in the second stage reactor with 4 hours of retention time. These resulted that the fixed-biofilm process could be adapted for the treatment of military installation wastewater.

This study investigated the intonation patterns of accentual phrase in Jeju dialect. 9 speakers (Experiment 1) and 6 speakers (Experiment 2) read a carrier sentence '__ youngah miwonghumnida' with a target accentual phrase varying its number of syllables from 1 to 8. The results showed that like Seoul dialect pattern could be the basic pattern of accentual phase in Jeju dialect even though several differences were observed in the realization of each tone: Flat staircase-like tones in L, M, and even in H were often observed, and a very small difference in F0 between intial L and +H was found in many speakers. For some of these differences, this paper tried to give an explanation still in the Intonational Phonology framework. However, introducing M tone as a lexical tone was also suggested as one possible solution. Finally, unlike Seoul dialect, most speakers showed pattern in an accentual phrase beginning with a strong consonant, i.e., aspirated and unaspirated obstruents including /h/ and /s/.

It is considered that herbal medicine may also have hepatotoxicity and Aconiti Radix Lateralis Preparata is thought to be the most poisonous. We investigated the changes of aspartate aminotransferase (AST), alanine aminotransferase (ALT) and ${\gamma}-glutamyltranspeptidase{\;}({\gamma}-GT$)$ in 6 cases administrated herbal medicine containing Aconiti Radix Lateralis Preparata and tried to evaluate its influence on liver enzymes. Before administration, the mean values of AST and ALT were $30.5{\pm}12.4${\;}U/L{\;}and{\;}30.7{\pm}22.5{\;}U/L$. After administration, those of AST, ALT and ${\gamma}-GT{\;}were{\;}25.7{\pm}8.7 {\;}U/L,{\;}28{\pm}14.8{\;}U/L{\;}and{\;}34.3{\pm}19.4{\;}U/L$ respectively. Therefore, it is indirectly assured that herbal medicine containing Aconiti Radix Lateralis Preparata didn't influence liver enzymes such as AST, ALT, ${\gamma}-GT$.

The changes in L ascorbic acid content by processing treatments; gamma irradiation, heating and microwave were investigated using high performance liquid chromatography. The content of L ascorbic acid in standard solutions and citrus fruits decreased from 27.4 to 44.9% and from 6.9 to 21.9%, re spectively, by gamma irradiation doses in the range of 1 to 10 kGy. By heating treatments, L ascorbic acids in standard solutions and citrus fruits were destroyed 22.5 to 36.8% and 4.5 to 18.1%, respectively. By microwave treatment, L ascorbic acid content also decreased from 23.1 to 47.4% and from 6.5 to 22.6%, respectively.

Design considerations of I2L are discussed with particular emphasis on the upward current gain of the npn transistor, 6J Several test structures have been fabricated to measure the DC and AC characteristics of the I2L basic cell and the base current components of the npn transistor. A T flip-flop has also been designed and fabricated using the I2L technology. The upward current gain of 10 the speed -power product of the 2.6pJ/gate and the minimum propagation delay time of 36 nsec have been obtained from the test structure. The maxmum toggle frequency of the T flip -flop has been measured to be 3.5 MHz.

Optimization of the fermentation medium for phenylethyl alcohol (PEA) production by Pichia anomala SKM-T was performed. The carbon source (glucose), nitrogen source (L-phenylalanine), and initial pH value were independent variables of the optimized medium. The central composite rotatable design was used for the experimental design and the analysis of the results. The optimum medium composition for the maximal production (621.27 mg/L) of PEA was found to be an initial pH of 5.03, and concentrations of L-phenylalanine at 6.53 and glucose at 6.11 g/L (w/v). This experimental finding is in close agreement with the model prediction (702.79 mg/L; desirability 0.884) with an 11.6% difference.

The cultural conditions of the osmophilic red color yeasts (Strain L$_{1}$, L$_{2}$, L$_{3}$ and L$_{4}$) isolated and identified in the previous report were examined and the results obtained were as follows ; 1. The optimum medium for growth of these osmophilic red color yeasts was soy sauce medium. 2. These strains were grown exceedingly well on the medium containing 3 percent of NaCl but somewhat restrained on the medium containing 6% or more. 3. The optimum temperautre for growth of these strains was 25.deg.C and their lethal temperature was 68.deg.C(treatment for 5 minutes). 4. The optimum pH for growth of these strains was 6.0.

L자형 루프를 이용하여 주파수대역이 6-18 GHz인 동축-이중릿지도파관 변환기를 상용 소프트웨어인 HFSS를 이용하여 설계한 후 제작하였다. L자형 루프는 동축-구형도파관 변환기에 이미 이용되고 있는 구조로써, 이를 동축-이중릿지도파관 변환기에 적용한 것이다. 제작 후 측정결과 대역폭이 6-18 GHz로 3:1 이상을 만족하며, 최대 삽입손실이 -1.52 dB 이었다.
