KPetro: An Information System for Korean Petroglyph Ruins Supporting the Dedicated Camera Application (KPetro: 전용 카메라 앱을 지원하는 한국 암각화 유적 정보 시스템)

  • Korean petroglyphs have been found over a lot of ruins through nation-wide regions including Daegok-ri Bangudae and Cheonjeon-ri in Ulsan. In this paper, we present an information system for Korean petroglyph ruins named KPetro which supports the dedicated camera application and the timeline service. The system provides the services for searching and updating information in various ways over the primary database constructed with the data on petroglyph ruins, which are collected by the Bangudae Petroglyph Institute. In addition, through the camera application developed for the system, users can easily add photos to the appropriate petroglyph ruin according to the GPS information of the location where those photos are taken. Also, the system provides the timeline service showing the photos for a specific petroglyph ruins in order of shooting time. To support both mobile and desktop environments, KPetro provides its functions in a web browser using the HTML5 standard technology and the JavaScript language, enabling the system to be adaptable to various user devices and extendable for its functionalities.

  • The objective of this paper is to provide a review on the latest development on the main initiative and approaches for the sustainability criteria for biofuels. A large number of national and international initiative lately experienced rapid development in the review of the biofuels targets announced in the European Union (EU), United States (US) and other countries worldwide. The global biofuel targets are likely to have a strong impact on land use and agricultural markets. Although biofuels production provides new options for using agricultural crops, there are environmental, social and economic concerns associated with biofuel production. The diversity of feedstock, large number of biofuels pathway an their complexity lead to a high uncertainty over the greenhouse gas (GHG) performances of biofuels, in terms of GHG emission reductions compared to the fossil fuels, expecially if land use change is involved. This paper describes an overview of current status of ongoing certification initiative in Europe and worldwide for biofuels sustainability. It also provides mandatory requirements as part of an sustainability scheme in EU, United Kingdom, US and international approaches and should be reviewed to introduce based on global trends in Korea.

Introduction to Quality Management System of Rocket Fuel at NARO Space Center (나로우주센터의 발사체 연료유 품질관리 과정 소개)

  • The Korean launch vehicle (KSLV-II) has used commercial aviation jet fuel, Jet A-1. Fuel specifications were introduced from Jet A-1 specifications. However, specifications and inspection methods of moisture and particulate matters were changed digitally for convenience and accuracy. To control fuel quality, a fuel management system was established to determine suitability by inspecting it at each stage of warehousing, storage, and application. An analysis room was then established at the Naro Space Center. The possibility of fuel mixing was blocked by warehousing inspection. Long-term component changes were then observed by storage inspection. Finally, suitability of the engine test or the launch vehicle test was determined through application inspection. Long-term analysis verified that the space center's fuel oil storage method was appropriate and that the quality management system was able to handle hundreds of engine tests and several flight tests.
