Intelligent Immigration Control System by Using Passport Recognition and Face Verification

  • This paper proposes the intelligent immigration control system that authorizes the traveler through immigration and detects forged passports by using automatic recognition of passport codes, the passport photo and face verification. The proposed system extracts and deskewes the areas of passport codes from the passport image. This paper proposes the novel ART algorithm creating the adaptive clusters to the variations of input patterns and it is applied to the extracted code areas for the code recognition. After compensating heuristically the recognition result, the detection of forged passports is achieved by using the picture and face verification between the passport photo extracted from the passport image and the picture retrieved from the database based on the recognized codes. Due to the proposed ART algorithm and the heuristic refinement, the proposed system relatively shows better performance.

  • This paper presents a new approach which uses $A^*$ search and genetic algorithms for solving large scale multi-objective shortest path problem. The focus of this paper is motivated by the problem of finding Pareto optimal paths for an advanced traveler information system(ATIS) in the context of intelligent transportation system(ITS) application. The individual description, the decoding rule, the selection strategy and the operations of crossover and mutation are proposed for this problem. The keynote points of the algorithm are how to represent individuals and how to calculate the fitness of each individual. The high performance of the proposed algorithm is demonstrated by computer simulations.

  • The rapid urbanization and modernization observed in countries like Myanmar have led to significant concerns regarding traffic congestion, especially in urban areas. This study focuses on the analysis and revitalization of urban transport in selected areas of Myanmar. The core of urban transportation planning lies in travel forecasting, which employs models to predict future traffic patterns and guide decisions related to road capacity, transit services, and land use policies. Travel demand modeling involves a series of mathematical models that simulate traveler behavior and decision-making within a transportation system, including highways, transit options, and policies. The paper offers an overview of the traditional four-step transportation modeling system, utilizing a simplified transport network in the context of Mandalay City, Myanmar.

A Study on Serologic Diagnosis for Dengue Virus Infection

  • Dengue fever (DF) is an acute febrile illness caused by dengue viruses in the family Flaviviridae, genus Flavivirus. DF has so far posed any problem in Korea, however it has been recently believed to be associated with oversea's traveler infected with dengue virus. Antibody titers of sera from DF patients against dengue virus were measured by indirect immunofluorescence assay (IFA) and plaque reduction neutralization test (PRNT), including the haematologic test. Three of patients with DF showed highly fluorescent and neutralizing antibody titers by IFA and PRNT assay. Two of them showed higher, remarkably. Meanwhile, one of them was tested and resulted in severe tirombocytopenia, elevated serum levels of aspartate aminotransferase (AST), alanine aminotransferase (ALT) activities as well as mild leucopenia, increased monocytes and basophils and depressed lymphocytes in haematological differential count.

  • For human including newborn baby, the intestinal microbiota can play an important role in the development of the intestinal mucosa and in maintaining the balance of the immune cells. Important functions of the intestinal microbiota include the inhibition of the colonization of the intestine by potentially pathogenic microorganisms. Thus, the research of probiotics have been focused on the prevention and treatment of disorders associated with the gastrointestinal tract (GIT), including pathogen infection, traveler's diarrhea, antibiotic-associated diarrhea, and constipation. Probiotics have also been suggested as therapeutic agents against irritable bowel syndrome and inflammatory bowel diseases. An increasing amount of evidence from clinical studies suggests that they are effective in the prevention of atopic allergies and may have potential anti-carcinogenic effects. Until recent years many scientific research for this use has been based on empirical observations. Therefore, probiotics in the form of fermented milk products have been long part of attempts to maintain good health in world wide.

  • ITS틀 내의 한 분야인 도로교통정보체계 (ATIS: Advanced Traveler Information system)는 실시간 교통정보를 운전자에게 직접 제공하는 것으로서, 이를 위해 매 순간마다 가로망에 배정되는 교통량 및 통행시간을 예측할 수 있는 범용의 동적 통행배정모형(dynamic route choice model)의 개발이 필히 수반되어야 한다. 본 연구에서는 ITS사업에서 필수적으로 수반되어야 할 최적 제어이론에 의한 동적 통행 배정모형을 ATIS의 핵심 소프트웨어로 응용하기 위해 기존 연구성과를 발판으로, 순간 동적 통행 배정모형(Ran, Boyce &LeBlanc, 1993)의 통행제약조건인 링크통행함수, 특히, 과부하 시 엘켈릭의 일반식의 파라메터를 조정, 적용하여, 서울시 강남지역의 실제 가로망의 사례연구를 통해 지체식의 각각의 파라메터에 따른 결과를 O/D에 따른 통행시간, 링크통행시간, 혼잡도를 중심으로 비교 평가하여, ATIS의 핵심 소프트웨어로서 순간 동적 통행배정을 통해 보다 현실여건을 잘 반영할 수 있는 링크 통행 성능 함수를 도출하였다.

  • This paper presents an intersection of technologies of ITS (intelligent transport systems) and CBTC(communication based train control) in urban transit system. ITS is based on Information and communication technologies. And also these techniques are fundamental for railway system. ITS has some technologies useful in railways such as traveler information service, public transportation information service, and advanced vehicle control Systems. Therefore, both systems need to technological cooperation. In this paper, we proposed useful an cooperation method for both systems.

Train Scheduling and Rescheduling In Pakistan

  • This paper provides an overview of Pakistan Railways scheduling and rescheduling. First of all, Pakistan Railways is introduced with its brief history and importance in this country. Assets of this network with passengers and freight using this are given. Current hope less situation is leading to privatization of this system as well as promoting short distance traveler to use road and Government efforts to retain is also presented. Train scheduling in Pakistan is being done manually, based on manual time distance graph preparation and resolution of conflicts based on manager's experience and ability. In Real-time management of this traffic Lahore head office is connected with six control stations in the Pakistan, decision for resolution of any disturbance is coordinated among them. It is recommended that computer aided tools must be developed for this system to help traffic managers and it is needed to invest on the segments to increase their speed limits which might attract passengers to use this mode of transportation with high priority.

  • The ATIS(Advance Traveler Information System), as one part of ITS, is a system aiming to disperse traffic volume on transportation networks by providing traffic information to transportation users on pre-trip and en-route trips. One of tools in ATIS is usage of VMS(Variable Message Signs). It provides to the drivers with direct information about state of processing direction. which is considered as the most effective method in ATIS. The purposes of providing VMS information are classified two categories. One is to provide simple information to drivers for their convenience. The other is to manage traffic demand to improve transportation network performance. However, for more effective and reliable VMS information, several strategies should be taken into account. The main VMS management strategy is "Traffic Diversion Strategy for minimum delay" when traffic congestion or incident are occurred. For effective operation. firstly. reasonable diversion traffic volume is determined by network traffic condition Secondly, it is necessary to make providing information strategy which reflects driver response behavior for controling diversion traffic volume. This paper focuses on the providing real-time route guidance information by VMS when congestion is occurred by the incidents. This sturdy estimates time-dependent system optimal diversion rate that inflects travel time and queue lengths using traffic flow simulation model on base Cellular Automata. In addition, route choice behavior models are developed using binary logit model for traffic information variable by traffic system controller. Finally, this study provides time-dependent VMS massage contents and degree of providing information in order to optimize the traffic flow.

Model Specification and Estimation Method for Traveler's Mode Choice Behavior in Pusan Metropolitan Area (부산광역권 교통수단선택모형의 정립과 모수추정에 관한 연구)

  • Mode choice Analysis is essential analysis stage in transportation demand forecasting process. Therefore, methods for calibration and forecasting of mode choice model in aspect of practical view need to be discussed in depth. Since 1980s, choice models, especially Logit model, are spread widely and rapidly over academic area, research institutes and consulting firms in Korea like other developed countries in the world. However, the process of calibration and parameter estimation for practical application was not clearly explained in previous papers and reports. This study tried to explain clearly the calibration process of mode choice step by step and suggested a forecasting mode choice model that can be applicable in real policy analysis by using household survey data of Pusan metropolitan are. The study also suggested a way of estimating attributes which was not observed during the household survey commonly such as travel time and cost of unchosen alternative modes. The study summarized the statistical results of model specification for four different Logit models as a process to upgrade model capability of explanation for real traveler's choice behaviors. By using the analysis results, it also calculated the value of travel time and compared them with the values of other previous studies to test reliability of the estimated model.
