  • PURPOSE: Text-mining has been shown to be useful for understanding the clinical characteristics and patients' concerns regarding a specific disease. Low back pain (LBP) is the most common disease in modern society and has a wide variety of causes and symptoms. On the other hand, it is difficult to understand the clinical characteristics and the needs as well as demands of patients with LBP because of the various clinical characteristics. This study examined online texts on LBP to determine of text-mining can help better understand general characteristics of LBP and its specific elements. METHODS: Online data from www.spine-health.com were used for text-mining. Keyword frequency analysis was performed first on the complete text of postings (full-text analysis). Only the sentences containing the highest frequency word, pain, were selected. Next, texts including the sentences were used to re-analyze the keyword frequency (pain-text analysis). RESULTS: Keyword frequency analysis showed that pain is of utmost concern. Full-text analysis was dominated by structural, pathological, and therapeutic words, whereas pain-text analysis was related mainly to the location and quality of the pain. CONCLUSION: The present study indicated that text-mining for a specific element (keyword) of a particular disease could enhance the understanding of the specific aspect of the disease. This suggests that a consideration of the text source is required when interpreting the results. Clinically, the present results suggest that clinicians pay more attention to the pain a patient is experiencing, and provide information based on medical knowledge.

  • Text-mining technique in the past had difficulty in realizing the analysis algorithm due to text complexity and degree of freedom that variables in the text have. Although the algorithm demanded lots of effort to get meaningful result, mechanical text analysis took more time than human text analysis. However, along with the development of hardware and analysis algorithm, big data technology has appeared. Thanks to big data technology, all the previously mentioned problems have been solved while analysis through text-mining is recognized to be valuable as well. However, applying text-mining to Korean text is still at the initial stage due to the linguistic domain characteristics that the Korean language has. If not only the data searching but also the analysis through text-mining is possible, saving the cost of human and material resources required for text analysis will lead efficient resource utilization in numerous public work fields. Thus, in this paper, we compare and evaluate the public document classification by handwork to public document classification where word frequency(TF-IDF) in a text-mining-based text and Cosine similarity between each document have been utilized in big data environment.

  • A separation of text and non-text elements plays an important role in document layout analysis. A number of approaches have been proposed but the quality of separation result is still limited due to the complex of the document layout. In this paper, we present an efficient method for the classification of text and non-text components in document image. It is the combination of whitespace analysis with multi-layer homogeneous regions which called recursive filter. Firstly, the input binary document is analyzed by connected components analysis and whitespace extraction. Secondly, a heuristic filter is applied to identify non-text components. After that, using statistical method, we implement the recursive filter on multi-layer homogeneous regions to identify all text and non-text elements of the binary image. Finally, all regions will be reshaped and remove noise to get the text document and non-text document. Experimental results on the ICDAR2009 page segmentation competition dataset and other datasets prove the effectiveness and superiority of proposed method.

  • The goal of this paper is to investigate changes in North Korea's domestic and foreign policies through automated text analysis over North Korean new year addresses, one of most important and authoritative document publicly announced by North Korean government. Based on that data, we then analyze the status of text mining research, using a text mining technique to find the topics, methods, and trends of text mining research. We also investigate the characteristics and method of analysis of the text mining techniques, confirmed by analysis of the data. We propose a procedure to find meaningful tendencies based on a combination of text mining, cluster analysis, and co-occurrence networks. To demonstrate applicability and effectiveness of the proposed procedure, we analyzed the inaugural addresses of Kim Jung Un of the North Korea from 2017 to 2019. The main results of this study show that trends in the North Korean national policy agenda can be discovered based on clustering and visualization algorithms. We found that uncovered semantic structures of North Korean new year addresses closely follow major changes in North Korean government's positions toward their own people as well as outside audience such as USA and South Korea.

  • The superimposed text in video brings important semantic clues into content analysis. In this paper, we present the new and fast superimposed text localization method in video segments. We detect the superimposed text by using temporal information contained in the video. To detect the superimposed text fast, we have minimized the candidate region of localizing superimposed texts by using the difference between consecutive frames. Experimental results are presented to demonstrate the good performance of the new superimposed text localization algorithm.

  • According to rapid development of technology, web text is growing explosively and attracting many fields as substitution for survey. The user of Facebook is reaching up to 113 million people per month, Twitter is used in various institution or company as a behavioral analysis tool. However, many research has focused on meaning of the text itself. And there is a lack of study for text's creation subject. Therefore, this research consists of sex/age text classification with by using 20,187 Facebook users' posts that reveal the sex and age of the writer. This research utilized Convolution Neural Networks, a type of deep learning algorithms which came into the spotlight as a recent image classifier in web text analyzing. The following result assured with 92% of accuracy for possibility as a text classifier. Also, this research was minimizing the Korean morpheme analysis and it was conducted using a Korean web text to Authorship Attribution. Based on these feature, this study can develop users' multiple capacity such as web text management information resource for worker, non-grammatical analyzing system for researchers. Thus, this study proposes a new method for web text analysis.

  • With the development of data analysis methods and data processing capabilities, semantic analysis of floorplans has been actively studied. Therefore, studies for extracting text information from drawings have been conducted for semantic analysis. However, existing research that separates rasterized text from floorplan has the problem of loss of text information, because when graphic and text components overlap, text information cannot be extracted. To solve this problem, this study defines the morphological characteristics of the text in the floorplan, and classifies the class of the corresponding region by applying the class of the SIFT key points through the SVM models. The algorithm developed in this study separated text components with a recall of 94.3% in five sample drawings.

  • As review text contains the experience and opinions of the customers, analyzing review text helps to understand the subject. Existing studies either only used sentiment analysis on online restaurant reviews to identify the customers' assessment on different features of the restaurant or network analysis to figure out the customers' preference. In this study, we conducted both sentiment analysis and network analysis on the review text of the restaurants with high star ratings and those with low star ratings. We compared the review text of the two groups to distinguish the difference of the two and identify what makes great restaurants great.

  • In this paper, a novel text binarization is presented that can deal with some complex conditions, such as shadows, non-uniform illumination due to highlight or object projection, and messy backgrounds. To locate the target text region, a focus line is assumed to pass through a text region. Next, connected component analysis and stroke width estimation based on location information of the focus line is used to locate the bounding box of the text region, and each box of connected components. A series of classifications are applied to identify whether each CC(Connected component) is text or non-text. Also, a modified K-means clustering method based on an HCL color space is applied to reduce the color dimension. A text binarization procedure based on location of text component and seed color pixel is then used to generate the final result.

  • In this study, a total of 2,584 domestic research papers with the keywords "Aviation Safety" and "Aviation Accidents" were subjected to Text Mining analysis. Various text mining techniques, including keyword frequency analysis, word correlation analysis, network analysis, and topic modeling, were applied to examine the research trends in the field of aviation safety. The results revealed a significant increase in research using the keyword "Aviation Safety" since 2015, with over 300 papers published annually. Through keyword frequency analysis, it was observed that "Aircraft" was the most frequently mentioned term, followed by "Drones" and "Unmanned Aircraft." Phi coefficients were calculated for words closely related to "Aircraft," "Aviation," "Drones," and "Safety." Furthermore, topic modeling was employed to identify 12 distinct topics in the field of aviation safety and aviation accidents, allowing for an in-depth exploration of research trends.
