This study aims to look at main problems of visiting the clinic, diagnoses and other related factors of outpatients in a private psychiatric clinic f3r children and adolescents located in Seoul. The analyses were based on the reports of 2,785 patients who were 18 years old and less, and visited the clinic during last 4 years. The results showed that the ratio of boys to girls was 2.7 to 1, and about 64% of the whole sample were 6 years old and less. Especially the percentage of patients aged 3 and less was the highest and that of schoolage and more was gradually reduced. The average number of siblings was 195 and the percentage of the first child in a family was the highest. Particularly, there were more boys in rase of one child families and more girls in case of families with 3 children and more. The chief problems were mainly language-deficit, hyperactivity, autistic behaviour, tic, aggressive behavior and academic problem. The higher frequency of diagnoses was in the order of parent-child problem, mental retardation, developmental language disorder, reactive attachment disorder, other emotional disorder, and pervasive developmental disorder. The more frequently used method fir treatments was in the sequence of psychotherapy, play therapy, parental counseling, occupational therapy and speech therapy. The results from this study were compared with those from other studies and discussed.
The Named Entity Recognition system is a system that recognizes words or phrases with object names such as personal name (PS), place name (LC), and group name (OG) in the document as corresponding object names. Traditional approaches to named entity recognition include statistical-based models that learn models based on hand-crafted features. Recently, it has been proposed to construct the qualities expressing the sentence using models such as deep-learning based Recurrent Neural Networks (RNN) and long-short term memory (LSTM) to solve the problem of sequence labeling. In this research, to improve the performance of the Korean named entity recognition system, we used a hand-crafted feature, part-of-speech tagging information, and pre-built lexicon information to augment features for representing sentence. Experimental results show that the proposed method improves the performance of Korean named entity recognition system. The results of this study are presented through github for future collaborative research with researchers studying Korean Natural Language Processing (NLP) and named entity recognition system.
In general, a corpus contains lots of linguistic information and is widely used in the field of natural language processing and computational linguistics. The creation of such the corpus, however, is an expensive, labor-intensive and time-consuming work. To alleviate this problem, annotation tools to build corpora with much linguistic information is indispensable. In this paper, we design and implement an annotation tool for establishing a Korean dependency tree-tagged corpus. The most ideal way is to fully automatically create the corpus without annotators' interventions, but as a matter of fact, it is impossible. The proposed tool is semi-automatic like most other annotation tools and is designed to edit errors, which are generated by basic analyzers like part-of-speech tagger and (partial) parser. We also design it to avoid repetitive works while editing the errors and to use it easily and friendly. Using the proposed annotation tool, 10,000 Korean sentences containing over 20 words are annotated with dependency structures. For 2 months, eight annotators have worked every 4 hours a day. We are confident that we can have accurate and consistent annotations as well as reduced labor and time.
In this paper, we discuss why two different surface forms appear in loanwords for English and German /${\int}$/ In Korean, a vowel is inserted into loanwords if a consonant cannot be properly syllabified. Therefore, /${\int}$/ in some positions of loanwords trigger vowel insertion. Interestingly, /${\int}$/s in the onset cluster of English and German words were borrowed in Korean as Iful with the inserted vowel [u] whereas If Is in the coda position of English and German words were borrowed as Ifil with the inserted vowel [i]. For example, 'shrimp' is adopted as [${\int}urimphi$] whereas 'rush' is adopted as [$ra{\int}i$]. In this paper, we attempt to find out the phonetic reason for the distribution of the surface forms of /${\int}$/. We assume that since the formant frequency of [i] is higher than that of [u], the peak frequency of /${\int}$/ with the surface form of [${\int}$i] in loanwords may be higher than that of /${\int}$/ with the surface form of [${\int}u$]. We also assume that duration may be another factor for the distribution of [${\int}i$] and [${\int}u$]. Since /${\int}$/ and /u/ use lip rounding whereas /i/ doesn't, the duration for [${\int}i$] might be longer than that of [${\int}u$]. German supports our assumption. /${\int}$/ in the onset cluster is longer than /${\int}$/ in the coda position. It also has higher peak frequency than that of /${\int}$/ in the coda position. In loanwords, ${\int}$ in the onset cluster is borrowed as [${\int}u$] as in Spiegel whereas /${\int}$/ in the coda position is borrowed as [${\int}i$] as in Bosch. English, however, does not support our assumption. Peak frequency of [${\int}$] depends on the preceding vowel, not on its position in the syllable structure. If the preceding vowel is front, then the peak freuency of the following of the following /${\int}$/ is high but if the preceding vowel is back, than the peak frequency of the following /${\int}$/ is low. The peak frequency of /${\int}$/ in the onset cluster seems to be in between. As we assumed, however, the duration of /${\int}$/ in the coda position is longer than of /${\int}$/ in the onset cluster. With the mixed results, we question whether Koreans really hear two different xounds for /${\int}$/ in English words. For the future experiment, we would like to perform the perception tet for /${\int}$/ in English words.
In order to build a news archive system. the news video stream should be first segmented into several articles, ad their contents are abstracted effectively. This abstraction helps the users to understand the contents of the article without playing the whole video stream. This paper proposes a new article boundary detection scheme for the news video streams together with a new news article abstraction scheme using the shot types of the news video data. The shots in the news video are classified into anchor person shots, interview shots, speech shots, reporting shots, graphic shots, and others. Since the news article starts with an anchor shot whose duration is relatively longer than other shots with special screen structure, the article boundary in detected by the computing the length of the shot and checking the screen structure in the proposed scheme. For the effective abstraction of the article video, the graphic image located in the right-top of the anchor shot frames is primarily used in the proposed abstraction scheme since it is the abstraction of the article made by the producer of the news according to its contents so that it contains a lot of meaningful information. The key frames of the other shots except interview and report shots are also used to abstract the contents of the articles in the proposed scheme. Upon experimental results, the precision and recall values of the proposed article boundary detection scheme could be 92% and 96%, respectively. This paper also presents a design and implementation of a prototype news archive system on WWW that consists of an indexing tool, an authoring tool, a database for meta-data of the news, and a browsing tool.

The purpose of this study was to compare communication and mother-child interactions of reactive attachment disordered children with normal children. The subjects were 24 children and their mothers participated in this study'12 reactive attachment disordered children and mothers, 12 normal children and mothers. The mother and her child were brought into a p]lay room and the mother was instructed to play with her child as she normally would at home. The play situations were videotaped. Tapes were transcribed and transcribed data was analyzed with 13 mutually exclusive categories encompassing pragmatic functions represented in communication form the early stage of multiword speech in childhood. The tapes were analyzed with 10 behavioral mother-child interaction patterns. As the statistical method, t-test and correlation was calculated. The results of this study were as follows : 1) Reactive attachment disordered children used significantly fewer 'filler', 'information', 'requests', 'describes' and 'disscus self'. 2) Reactive attachment disordered children's mother used significantly fewer 'filler' and 'names'. 3) Reactive attachment disordered children used significantly more 'independent play', fewer 'intiates interaction', 'responsiveness' and 'answer' Reactive attachment disordered children's mother used more 'control play', 'observe' and fewer 'initiates interaction'. 4) Children's communication patterns were related lo mother·'s communication and mother-child interaction types. Children's 'filler', 'information requests', 'describes' and 'disscus self' were consistantly related to mother's 'filler' and 'names', (Children's 'filler', 'information requests', 'describes'. 'disscus self' and mother-child's intiates interaction 'responsivness' were significantly positively correlationed and 'independant play', 'control play', 'observation' were significantly negatively correlationed. The results of reveal that communication and mother-child interaction pattern of reactive attachment disordered group was different from normal group and children's communication pattern were influenced by mother's communication and interaction patterns.
Swallowing disorders that can affect nutrient intakes and quality of life are commonly shown among the elderly as well as patients with neurogenic disorder. This study verifies the reliability and validity of the Swallowing Disturbance Questionnaire (SDQ), a subjective swallowing disability assessment tool, modified for Koreans' eating habit and cultural sentiment, against 105 stroke patients, in order to help identify early swallowing problems of the elderly. Reliability of internal consistency in the Korean version of SDQ is .601, test-retest reliability is .97, and concurrent validity is .956. Based on 8 points of cut-off score, 46.8% of sensitivity and 81.6% of specificity. Comparing the results of video fluoroscopic study (VFSS), an objective swallowing disorder test with those of Korean version of SDQ, negative predictive value (NPV) and positive predictive value (PPV) was shown as 81% and 53%. The Korean version of SDQ is expected to be a useful testing tool to discriminate swallowing disorders in stroke patients. It has great clinical significance in that swallowing difficulties shown by subjects can be sorted out to request a diagnostic assessment before clinical evaluation by a rehabilitation therapist or ruling out unnecessary exposure to additional tests by accurately identifying stroke patients without swallowing problems.

In this study, using data completed in the 11th year of the Panel Study on Korean Children, discourse management, situational adjustment and application ability, communication intention, and non-verbal communication were investigated by the child pragmatic language checklist tool in the field of cognitive and language development. It is to find a significant influence by analyzing the relationship between the factors of the observed variables on the latent variables of communication. The subject of this study is 4th grade elementary school students in 1,392 households, excluding 36 non-respondents to the language development question, out of 2150 households in the 11th year of the Panel Study on Korean Children(2018) data, 1428 households excluding 722 households who did not participate in the survey. As a result of the study, it was found that the total effect, direct effect, and indirect effect among the three latent variables except for communication intention were all significant in the effect analysis of the research model. Specifically, not only did nonverbal communication have a direct effect on discourse management ability, but also the indirect influence mediated by situational control and application ability was significant in the relationship between nonverbal communication and discourse management ability. As a result, it was found that the higher the non-verbal communication and situational adjustment and adaptation ability, the higher the discourse management ability.

Smith-Magenis syndrome (SMS) is a clinically recognizable multiple congenital anomaly and mental retardation syndrome caused by an interstitial deletion of chromosome 17 p11.2. Physical features include short stature, characteristic facial appearance: flattened mid-face, down-turned mouth, prominent and often rosy cheeks; prominent jaw in older children and adults, chronic ear infections, hearing impairment, eye problems, including: strabismus (an eye which turns in or out) and myopia (nearsightedness), hoarse voice, short fingers and toes, heart defects or murmurs, problems related to the urinary system, scoliosis (curvature of the spine), an unusual gait (walking pattern), and decreased sensitivity to pain. Behavioral and developmental characteristics include speech delay and articulation problems, developmental delay, learning disability, mental retardation, hyperactivity, self-injury, including: head banging; hand biting; picking at skin, sores and nails; pulling off finger- and toenails; inserting foreign objects into ears, nose, or other body orifices, explosive outbursts, prolonged tantrums, destructive and aggressive behavior, excitability, arm hugging or hand squeezing when excited. This report is the case of a Korean 3-year-3-month old male with Smith-Magenis syndrome referred from local clinic for the treatment of dental caries. The patient was treated by physical restraint after prophylatic administration of antibiotic(Amoxacillin 50mg/kg).
In covering the controversies surrounding the so-called cyber defamation laws, the Korean press offered competitive frames in terms of values (security vs. freedom of speech) and attributional patterns (episodic vs. thematic attribution). By attending to core values and attributional patterns as two essential components of news frames, this study explored the cognitive and affective processes of value and attributional framing and their effects on issue opinion. According to a 3-group online experiment, first, it was found that core values increased the perceived importance of relevant beliefs, which further affected individuals' attitudes toward the laws. The affective effects of core values were also found marginally significant. The value of security increased the intensity of anger toward deviant netizens (so-called defamatory repliers), and it further increased individuals' support for the laws. It was not substantiated, however, that individualistic attribution, than social attribution, would provoke stronger anger toward defamatory repliers. Instead, episodic frames appeared to be more effective in driving issue opinion as indicated by the value frame.
