The sea noise of moving trawl net was recorded by an underwater tape recorder which was set wireless, and was analyzed by a sound level meter and an octave-band analyzer. The frequency distribution of sea noise of the moving otter trawl net ranged from DC to 5000 Hz, and the dominant frequency zone ranged from 500 Hz to 700 Hz, and the maximum sound pressure is about 22 dB at the otter trawl net. The main sound source of the sea noise from the moving trawl net was found to be sea noise due to the resistance of the ground rope against the sea bottom.
The extensive construction works of container terminals progressed since 2006 was converted to small scaled construction works or reclaiming works since 2012 in Busan New Port area. To investigate changes in activity of otters with the change of construction work scales, the linear densities of spraints at 15 localities of 5 areas (I-V) near the Busan New Port construction areas were surveyed during the period from 2012 to 2016. As the results, the average linear density of spraints has a tendency to increase since 2014. That is, the linear densities of spraints have increased at the area II and IV where the reclaiming works have been progressed, although have decreased or unchanged in the areas I, III and V where small scaled construction works have been progressed. Based on the fact that there were habitats at the Honamdo in the area II and the Yeondo in the area IV, otters seemed to restore their activities around the habitats as the center regardless of the reclaiming works.
The bleaching phenomenon of otter spraints is indicates that the age of spraints (fresh or old spraints). As previous studies on the old otter faeces (spraint) have focused only on the external changes of spraints, it has been difficult to explain the difference of the decomposition rates among old spraints. We hypothesized that the micrometeorology difference caused by various characteristics of sprainting sites such as porosity and consistency of soil could affect the extent of the decomposition rate, the solar bleaching phenomenon of spraints used as a measure of the patterns of old spraints. Sprainting sites were classified into four types (Clay, Sand, Rock and Concrete spot) and each type was divided into two groups according to the sunlight condition (Sunny site and Shady site) to measure the effect of solar radiation. Micrometeorology of the sites were evaluated by measuring temperatures and humidities of the sites during the whole season. The variations in micrometeorology of the sunny sites according to the sprainting site types were examined with correlation analyses between the factors of micrometeorology. The analyses on the bleaching phenomenon of the spraints by micrometeorology showed that the highest rate of bleaching was found at the 'Rock spot' and 'Concrete spot' of the sunny site and especially in summer, the highest rate of bleaching ($63.4{\pm}7.6%$) was found at the 'Clay spot' of the sunny sites. The lowest rate of bleaching was found at the 'Sand spot' of the sunny sites. The above findings show that the difference in bleaching rates among sprainting sites was due to the seasonal or sunny condition. In addition, we found that the differences in thermal conductivity among sprainting site characteristics have resulted in different sprainting site temperature which have affected the rate of bleaching of spraints. In conclusion, this study suggests that studies of otters on their population size and home ranges using spraints as an indirect sign, should consider the effects of sprainting site characteristics and weather conditions.
Gobiid fish were collected monthly in Cheonsu Bay by a beach seine from the shallow water and by an otter trawl from the deep water from September, 1984 to August, 1986. Seasonal variation in species composition and biology of the major species were examined with the data of length and age composition. Fourteen speices of gobies were identified. Gobiid fish were more abundant in the shallow water than in the deep water. In the shallow water, they constituted 66% and 39% of the fish collected in the mud flat and the sand beach, respectively. The suction discs of the gobies explains that they inhabit successfully in the surf zone where the wave action is strong. Of the major species, Chaenogobius mororanus predominated in the shallow mud flat. A large number of adults of this species were obtained in Spring and their juveniles were collected from Summer through Autumn. Favonigobius gymnauchen was abundant in the shallow water, especially in the sand beach. This fish seemed to spawn from May through June, about two months later than Chaenogobius mororanus. Acanthogobius hasta juveniles lived in the shallow water and moved into the deep water as the fish grew. Chaturichthys stigmatias was collected mainly in the deep zone.

The authors carried out an experiment to measure the hydrodynamic resistance of the gear and the efficiency of otter board of the midwater trawl, which is the same used in the former experiment in this series of studies. The whole resistance of the gear was measured by a 10 ton scale recording tension meter, and they were analyzed into the shearing force and the drag with relevant factors determined in the former experiments. The results obtained can be summarized as follows: 1. The whole drag of gear T(kg) and the drag of net R sub(N) (kg) can be expressed as T=2.15 v super(1.12). R sub(N)=1.96 v super(1.01) (v: towing speed in m/sec) 2. The formula of estimating the drag of net deduced by Koyama's method can be expressed as R sub(N)=4.3$\times$d/l$\times$abv 3. The shearing force and the drag of otter board is about 19 to 22% and 5 to 7% of the drag of net, respectively. Whereas, the shearing coefficient and the drag coefficient calculated by the resistance and the opening of gear are 1.5 and 0.42, respectively.
Spatial and seasonal variations of community structure of demersal fishes in Asan Bay were studied using seasonal samples collected by an otter trawl from autumn 1991 to summer 1992. For each sampling station, three trawl hauls were completed to obtain a reliable sample. Of 34 species identified, Cynoglossus joyneri, Johnius belengeri, Zoraces gillii and Thrissa koreana accounted for $93\%$ of the individuals collected. The former three dominant species were more abundant on the finer sediment of the inner bay than on the sandy bottom of the outer bay. Spatial variation of community structure of demersal fishes was analysed by principal component analysis using rank correlation. The community structure did not show a spatial difference, but a clear seasonal trend. This distribution pattern seems to be related significantly to the seasonal temperature fluctuation and to the active mixing of the water by strong tidal current of the bay.

Thousands of pelagic and demersal fishes inhabit the waters around Korea and many of them are overexploited. One of the reasons is technological development, which increases the efficiency of the vessels continuously. The analysis was conducted to identify the change of fishing power index to develop the vessel and gear technology that may have improved the fishing efficiency of the otter trawl fishery from 1960s to 2010s. Gross tonnage was decreased stably, but horse power was increased annually. The perimeter of net mouth was somewhat longer, but little changed. Color fish finder was utilized from the mid-1960s. Hydraulic net drum were introduced in the early 1990s, and supply rate was gradually increased. Surveys on the supply and upgrading of fishing equipment utilized visiting research. Therefore, the relative fishing power index in the trawl fishery increased about two to three times in the 2010s compared to the 1980s. The results are expected to contribute to reasonable fisheries stock management.
