Based on a literature survey and assessment of the important features of lichen genus Buellia (spore shape and size, anatomy of the exciple as well as analysis of the lichen substances), the present paper describes four new records of B. maritima, B. polyspora, B. spuria and B. stellulata from South Korea. Among them, B. maritima and B. polyspora are firstly reported in East Asia including in China, the Korean Peninsula and Japan. Brief description of all the new records along with earlier described species placed under genus Amandinea and Hafellia are provided with their distribution and chemistry. A key to all the Buellia species reported so far from South Korea is also provided.

This study illustrates the status of thelotremoid Graphidaceae in South Korea. The taxonomy and systematics of thelotremoid lichens in the country have recently advanced greatly. Following the earlier known taxa from the group, four new records of the genus Thelotrema are reported and described briefly. An artificial key for all known species under thelotremoid group of Graphidaceae from South Korea is also provided.

Background : With the CQI concepts, which emphasize doing the right things right the first time, we tried to enhance the timely completion of medical records by changing the review process from retrospective method to concurrent one. Methods : Against the current retrospective QA activity, Medical record administrator did the concurrent QA of the inpatient medical records with the deficiency sheets. One general surgery ward was chosen as a trial one. The deficiency rate of the medical records of the discharged patients was compared before and after the enforcement of the system. Job analysis of the medical record departments was done about four tertiary care hospitals located in Seoul to estimate the cost and the time consumed by current system. Results : There was a little improvement in the completion rate of the medical records after the trial. The new system was effective. And job analysis showed that much money and time were wasted by current retrospective feedback system. Conclusion : Though the result was not so satisfactory, it should be considered that this test was a voluntary one and the interns and residents were not forced to complete the medical records during this trial period. If there be any strong motivation to complete the medical record in time, this system is sure to be succeed. As the DRG system requires the concurrent review of the medical records to confirm severity of the patient's illness and to assure the timely discharge, it is desirable to enforce this method with the DRG system together. DRG coding and reducing deficiency rate of the medical records can be accomplished simultaneously.

This study explored the possibilities of a new approach to developing the provenance concept to electronic records in the data-driven digital environments by reviewing and adopting data provenance concepts and models. It then conducted basic literature review to develop a ground for a model representing the provenance of data-driven electronic records. In particular, it proposed to embrace to the concepts of retrospective and prospective provenance, and to develop a different model for representing provenance from records management metadata. If the model can be developed that can represent provenance independently while maintaining a dynamic relationship with records, it can be ensure the fluidity of records and even support to secure the record's attributes and play the roles of provenance. Eventually, it proposed the direction to develop the provenance model which can support the fixity of records, the reproducibility of activities, and the trustworthiness of representations. It is expected to be a fit provenance model in the data-driven digital environment.

The issue of how to manage the existing records at an archives is very important from the aspects of principle and practicality in record management since it is deeply related with the system of managing new records. Although there are a few studies on filing and criteria on organizing records, they do not often help in the actual site of record and archives management. Therefore, we need to raise the issues that could develop in actual sites and find the ways or resolving these issues, other than the general criteria proposed. Refiling is a very important task for recovering the original order and needs to be a task that should be done according to the overall system and process of record management at an archives. Furthermore, it is very important to objectify and regulate the contents and methods of the task of refiling through the refiling criteria with the content of criteria being specific. From the arguments presented until now, we could tell that refiling falls in the area of record management at an archive directly related with the department of reproducing records at public organizations. Moreover, the role of archivists relates with the task of refiling is critical. Especially, distinguishing job according to chief object is a critical issue in the status and role of archivists at record and archives institutions. This process is important not only at the level of simple job makeup but also in record management. Archivists should be responsible for preparing refiling criteria, reviewing of problems developed in job process, classifying records for refiling, reviewing and refiling of catalogs and key words, selecting equipment and tools, and establishing various forms.

'Memory discourse' takes an important role in the paradigm shift of archival science. Memory points to the limitation of 'records as evidence' that had been assumed to be representable and redefines the record as an infinite interpretable medium by captured memory. Now, recordkeeping are given a new question as 'what world to remember' beyond 'how to remember the world' between 'visible' records and 'invisible' memories. And, the power of memory's personal, present, and everyday aspect is linked to the argument that the keeping of memory and records itself can take a social justice role. In this article, we examine the western archival science's memory discourse landscape comprehensively and reconstruct it to examine the possibility of memories' social justice or archival justice.

In the 1990s, the Korean government enacted the Act on the Management of Records in Public Institutions to produce and register records. Since then, through the revision of the act in 2006, it was wholly amended into the "Public Records Management Act," which presented significant changes with regard to the functions and roles from the former act. According to the new act, there are 17 metropolitan governments subject to the legal obligation of a local archive installation, but most of them are not planning for the establishment of local archives except Seoul and Gyeongsangnam-do in 2018. Therefore, this study surveyed 12 among the 14 record centers, which are the institutes that Daegu local archive will have managed, The current status of records management was analyzed, and records more than 30 years in the institutes were investigated.

This paper provides a description of Opegrapha herbarum, Opegrapha viridis and Phaeographis subdividens, all newly identified in the Republic of Korea. The characteristic features of O. herbarum include Varia-type asci, Subelevata-type ascospores, a lack of secondary metabolites and a saxicolous habitat. O. viridis possesses Calcarea-type asci, Vulgata-type ascospores and no chemicals in the thallus. P. subdividens is recognizable by its curved to sinuous lirellae, divergent labia, a brown and uniformly thick proper exciple which is open at its base, 3~4-septate ascospores, and lack of secondary metabolites. All three taxa are now reported to exist on Bogil Island in the Republic of Korea.

The paper describes nine new records of macro- and micro-lichens from Korea. A brief taxonomic description and comments are presented for all the studied taxa (Catapyrenium squamellum, Chrysothrix candelaris, Endocarpon pallidulum, Endocarpon petrolepideum, Lecanora oreinoides, Leprocaulon albicans, Parmotrema saccatilobum, Verrucaria glaucina and Xanthoria parietina). The lichen genera Catapyrenium, Chrysothrix and Verrucaria are reported for the first time in this country.

Fifteen species of water mites belonging to the genus Atums are reported from the eastern area of Korea, with the following five of them described as new species: Aturus glaberus, A. parauarus, A. quodrotus, A. sankveriensis, and A. trifurcatus, n. sap. A. complexus Sokolow and A. tewaconfusensis Habeeb, both new records for Korean fauna, are re-described.
