Purpose: The main aim of this study is to analyze and suggest new online music distribution models targeted to facilitate the development of the Korean Wave (Hallyu) music market in all locations of the world. This study is conducted through a close analysis of the prevailing distribution models, the unique challenges of the K-pop market, and the trends in new technologies. Research design, data and methodology: To address the issue of how the online music distribution market could be domesticated for the Korean music industry, a systematic review of the previous studies was conducted. The use of the PRISMA approach was followed so that an accurate and transparent method for choosing the studies is ensured. Results: According to the investigation of literature analysis, the online distribution strategy may consist of four key plannings as follows, 1. Leveraging Social Media and User-Generated Content Platforms, 2. Embracing Immersive and Interactive Experiences, 3. Fostering Direct-to-Fan Connections and Monetization, 4. Harnessing Artificial Intelligence and Big Data Analytics. Conclusions: Finally, collaboration and strategic partnerships will be vital. The Korean music companies should seek to cooperate with the technology companies, social media platforms, and the global music streaming services so that they can grow their market, acquire new technologies, and to better their online distribution strategies.

The purpose of this study is to develop an idealistic scheme for the classification of Korean music. The ideal classification of Korean music should cover as much knowledge and materials of Korean music as possible. In this study, therefore, Korean music, Korean musicology and music materials were examined first as the backgrounds. Then classification schedules for Korean music including 679 Korean music of KDC were selected, and their expansion aspects and the problems were analyzed. The conditions and the possibility of developing an ideal classification schedule of Korean music were sought through reanalyzing the problems found in these existing classification schedules. As the result of this study a new classification schedule of Korean music was proposed.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of music therapy on state anxiety and pain among patients undergoing burn dressing changes. Method: A convenience sample of 32 adult burn patients who were eligible and provided consent were included in the study which was a quasi-experimental study of a nonequivalent control group pretest-posttest design. Fifteen patients in the control group received the routine burn dressing changes but 17 patients in the experimental group listened to self-selected music through headphones connected to a CD player during burn dressing changes for three days. All subjects of the music group chose the type of music that would relax them. Before and after burn dressing changes, subjects completed the State Anxiety Inventory and self-report of pain scores. Result: There was a significant reduction in state anxiety before and after burn dressing changes in those who received music therapy in contrast to those who did not receive music therapy. The music group reported lower pain scores before and after burn dressing changes than did the non-music group. Conclusion: These findings indicate that music therapy composed of self-selected music is a valuable intervention for the treatment of pain and anxiety in patients undergoing burn dressing changes.

Background and Objectives: The aim of this study is to evaluate the effect of music training on the characteristics of auditory perception of speech and music. The perception of speech and music stimuli was assessed across their respective stimulus continuum and the resultant plots were compared between musicians and non-musicians. Subjects and Methods: Thirty musicians with formal music training and twenty-seven non-musicians participated in the study (age: 20 to 30 years). They were assessed for identification of consonant-vowel syllables (/da/ to /ga/), vowels (/u/ to /a/), vocal music note (/ri/ to /ga/), and instrumental music note (/ri/ to /ga/) across their respective stimulus continuum. The continua contained 15 tokens with equal step size between any adjacent tokens. The resultant identification scores were plotted against each token and were analyzed for presence of categorical boundary. If the categorical boundary was found, the plots were analyzed by six parameters of categorical perception; for the point of 50% crossover, lower edge of categorical boundary, upper edge of categorical boundary, phoneme boundary width, slope, and intercepts. Results: Overall, the results showed that both speech and music are perceived differently in musicians and non-musicians. In musicians, both speech and music are categorically perceived, while in non-musicians, only speech is perceived categorically. Conclusions: The findings of the present study indicate that music is perceived categorically by musicians, even if the stimulus is devoid of vocal tract features. The findings support that the categorical perception is strongly influenced by training and results are discussed in light of notions of motor theory of speech perception.

Recently, recognizing user resource for personalized service has been needed in digital content service fields. Especially, to analyze user taste, recommend music and service music related information need recognition of user music file in case of online music service. Music related information service is offered through recognizing user music based on tag information. Recognition error has grown by weak points like changing and removing of tag information. Techniques of content based user music recognition with music signal itself are researched for solving upper problems. In this paper, we propose user music recognition on the internet by extracted feature from music signal. Features are extracted after suitable preprocessing for structure of content based user music recognition. Recognizing on music server consist of feature form are progressed with extracted feature. Through this, user music can be recognized independently of tag data. 600 music was collected and converted to each 5 music qualities for proving of proposed recognition. Converted 3000 experiment music on this method is used for recognition experiment on music server including 300,000 music. Average of recognition ratio was 85%. Weak points of tag based music recognition were overcome through proposed content based music recognition. Recognition performance of proposed method show a possibility that can be adapt to online music service in practice.

Assuming that not all background music in advertising function as effective retrieval cues for the advertised messages, this study proposes that we should be able to distinguish the retrieval cue effect of music from the simple ad exposure effect. This study tries to identify which specific characteristics of music are related to the retrieval cue effect. Our experiment focuses on congruency and familiarity of music as key characteristics of music which affect the effectiveness of the music's role as a retrieval cue for the advertised messages. We used four groups of subjects to test the retrieval cue effect of the background music. Each group was exposed to one of the four different types of background music and was again sub-divided into an experimental and a control group (i.e., a total of eight independent sub-groups were included in the experiment.) The first two sub-groups were exposed to the experimental advertisement with the background music of high congruency and high familiarity. After the ad exposure, the background music was provided as a retrieval cue to only one of the two sub-groups. Comparison of the memory performance between the two sub-groups will reveal the net retrieval cue effect of the music of high congruency and high familiarity. Similarly, another two sub-groups watched the same ad but with the background music of high congruency and low familiarity. Also the same ad but with the music of low congruency/ high familiarity was shown to another two sub-groups and that of low congruency and low familiarity music was to another two. Among the two sub-groups with the same music, only one group had the music cue at the memory tasks. One hundred and seventy four undergraduate students at the college of one of authors in Asia participated in the study. Their ages ranged from 18 to 24 with a median of 20. The sample was composed of 51.7 percent male subjects. They were randomly assigned to each of the eight sub-group. The results show that the music highly congruent with the advertised message facilitates the message retrieval, while the low congruency music cue does not. It was also found that the low familiarity music cue improves memory performance only when the music is perceived as congruent with the advertised message. From a theoretical and practical perspective, this study provides boundary conditions for effective retrieval and suggests that the congruent music specifically created for the ad is a more effective retrieval cue than other types of music cues.

With increasing interest in the emotional responses to music, research on the regulatory mechanisms of music has been ongoing. This study examines the fidelity of music emotion regulation (MER) studies by analyzing the quality of rationales provided for using music to induce emotional regulation. A total of 45 internationally published studies were collected for review, and analysis was conducted on criteria related to the use of music, including duration, number of pieces, selection rationale, and the selecting agent. Despite the research objectives aiming to investigate the emotional regulation effects of music, it was found that the majority of studies lacked specific information about the music used, and there was weak consistency among the studies. Additionally, reliable evidence for music activities, music selection, and music implementation time was not provided, and there was a lack of logical basis for the regulatory mechanisms of music. The results of this study imply the necessity for fidelity to the rationale of music emotion regulation to establish itself as a research area. Such rigorous fidelity will contribute to increasing the replicability and integrity of research on the therapeutic uniqueness of music.

This essay researches which affective responses can be made from musical elements of Korean traditional music through adjective description about mood responses. It results that traditional mode which are classified into Pyoungjo and Gyemounjo hardly have any the affective responses, while major and minor mode, tempo, tone color, vertical and horizontal texture have some effects on particular affects. Meanwhile, newly composed Korean traditional music have more effects for as inducing affective responses rather than works as old Korean traditional music. As well as Western music, Korean traditional music induces different affective responses to each musical element. As such, this aspects can be adopted to different realms like background music, commercial music, music therapy and so on.

African-American music heavily influences a variety of musical genres, including folk music, jazz, rhythm and blues, soul, and funk music. The music derived from traditional African music with its unique syncopated rhythm using a five-note pentatonic scale, and has developed through significant influences from gospel music. African-American music has also evolved through historical social movements, such as eliminating the racial discrimination, and has been influenced by the personalities of different cities in the United States. Modern music features fusion with elements of Western music. One of the most influential and respected artists of the 20th century was Stevie Wonder, who was known as "Father of African-American music." He was an accomplished artist, winning numerous awards despite being disabled. He has become one of the most famous and respected artists worldwide. This study of Stevie Wonder's life, music, and spiritual strength, aims to highlight his significant achievements and contributions to pop music. This is a study based on an analysis of the work of Stevie Wonder and describes how elements of African-American music influences current Korean pop music and musicians.

The purpose of this study aims to present the base for the rational management of printed music as an important primary source of music materials. In this study, therefore, the selection and acquisition, organization, user services for the management of printed music are investigated. Then the present situation for management of printed music of university libraries in Daejeon and Chungnam are surveyed. Finally, the special issues to be considered in the management of printed music are presented.
