The contents of the CPGs were the clinical questions and statements, surgical therapy, adjuvant therapy, radiation therapy, chemotherapy, palliative medicine, risk assessment, palliation and supportive care, follow-up and recurrence, Tumor-Node-Metastasis (TNM) staging. In the Guidelines of Diagnosis and Therapy in Oncology with Traditional Chinese Medicine, the etiology, mechanisms, herbal drugs, Chinese medicine assessment, complication, syndrome differentiation (SD), Chinese medicine treatment were described. Conclusions: In order to develop the proper Korean medicine CPG for pancreatic cancer and to adapt the correct integrative treatment program on the pancreatic cancer, institutional arrangements for cooperation with Korean medical communities and standardization of SD should be performed.

  • Objectives To explore the traffic injury patients' experience on health care utilization of Korean Medicine (KM) practice and perception of health care system for developing a Korean medicine clinical practice guideline (CPG) of traffic injuries by survey method. Methods Two hundred ten patients in suffering from traffic injuries were surveyed from September 1st, 2019 to January 31th, 2020 at 2 University Hospitals (Pusan National Korean Medicine Hospital and Kyung Hee Korean Medicine Hospital at Gangdong) and 1 Spine Specialty Hospital (Jaseng Hospital of Korean Medicine). A structured questionnaire of experience on health care utilization of KM practice and perception of health care system of was distributed to responders by visits and all data were statistically analysed. Results Survey results showed high satisfaction of patients with the experience of KM treatments in order of daoyin exercise (7.8±2.3), chuna manual therapy (7.7±4.0), pharmacoacupuncture (7.4±3.0) etc. Safety concerns were reported in 9.1% subjects and 205 (97.6%) patients answered that collaboration with KM and western medicine is necessary for patients with traffic injuries. For the patients' requirement for extending insurance coverage, the most required therapy was chuna manual therapy (57.5%) and pharmacoacupuncture (42.0%). Conclusions This study presented the realistic patient-centered perception of KM practice and health care system in Korea. These results will provide basic data to be reflected in the process of adaptation for the revision of Korean Medicine CPG for traffic injuries.

On October 18, 2016, we sent questionnaires to 583 people, and on October 31, 2016, we sent questionnaires to 581 people again. A survey ended on November 15, 2016. A total of 56 responded. Results: 1. 91.07% of respondents knew the concepts and contents of CPG, and all respondents agreed about the necessity of CPG. 2. Most common symptom of climacteric and postmenopausal syndrome that 65.75% of the respondents answered was the hot flush 3. To diagnosis a climacteric and postmenopausal syndrome, 69.64% of the respondents used pattern identification diagnosis mainly. 4. 36.84% of the respondents answered that herbal medicine and acupuncture are the most effective treatments for climacteric and postmenopausal syndrome. The most commonly used herb medicine was Kamisoyo-san. Conclusions: We figured out Korean Medicine doctors' recognition of Korean medicine clinical practice guideline, clinical diagnosis, treatment on climacteric and postmenopausal syndrome to make the contents of the CPG reflecting the clinical situation. Further research will be needed in the future.

  • Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) results in high morbidity and mortality among patients nationally and globally. The Korean clinical practice guideline for COPD was revised in 2018. The guideline was drafted by the members of the Korean Academy of Tuberculosis and Respiratory Diseases as well as the participating members of the Health Insurance Review and Assessment Service, Korean Physicians' Association, and Korea Respiration Trouble Association. The revised guideline encompasses a wide range of topics, including the epidemiology, diagnosis, assessment, monitoring, management, exacerbation, and comorbidities of COPD in Korea. We performed systematic reviews assisted by an expert in meta-analysis to draft a guideline on COPD management. We expect this guideline to facilitate the treatment of patients with respiratory conditions by physicians as well other health care professionals and government personnel in South Korea.

  • Objectives: This study was conducted to reflect the public's perspective when developing Korean Medicine (KM) Clinical Practice Guideline (CPG) for nausea and vomiting of pregnancy (NVP). Methods: 317 respondents who had experienced nausea and vomiting during current or past pregnancy completed the questionnaire online, and we analyzed their answers. Results: 1. 24% of all respondents had received KM treatment. The most common reason for choosing KM treatment was "it would be relatively safe for pregnant women and fetuses", and the reason for not choosing KM treatment was "they did not know much about it". 2. Respondents who had experienced KM treatment for NVP had felt the effects of KM treatment (79%), and chose herbal medicine as the most effective and preferred treatment. 3. 64.1% of respondents who had not experienced KM treatment for NVP preferred cooperative treatment with Western medicine. They answered that herbal medicine would be the most effective treatment, but preferred acupuncture. 4. The most important factor when treating NVP was "the safety of treatments". 59% of all respondents perceived KM treatment is safe for NVP. The treatments perceived as safest were herbal medicine and acupuncture, while the treatments with the least safety information were pharmacopuncture and electro-acupuncture. 5. Treatments that medical consumers were comprehensively interested in were acupuncture, KM treatment & Fluid, herbal medicine, moxibustion, and acupressure, in order. Conclusions: This study revealed the public's experience of using medical care, preference and perception of KM treatment for NVP. Therefore we would reflect the patients' clinical needs in the CPG.

The survey period was from December 29, 2023 to January 19, 2024. Results There were 2,762 Korean medicine doctors who responded to an online survey over a three-week period. Awareness of the standard clinical practice guidelines of Korean medicine was 74.5%, and utilization was 35.8%. The most frequently used diagnostic tool was a numerical evaluation tool, the treatment tool was acupuncture, and the prognosis management guidance was lifestyle guidance. Conclusions If standard Korean medicine clinical practice guidelines for myofascial pain syndrome are developed based on the results of this survey, guidelines that are highly usable in clinical settings will be developed.

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study is to present clinical practice guidelines for nasopharyngeal cancer (NPC).Methods: Data related to western and oriental medical treatment of NPC were collected using various search engines such as Google Scholar, KIOM OASIS, PUBMED, and the library of Woosuk University. Results: In recent studies, applying combined oriental and western medicine has been shown to improve survival, quality of life, and immune function and to decrease side effects with respect to NPC. However, there still is no objective and systematic clinical guideline for NPC, so we have proposed one. This study will be meaningful in establishing clinical practice guidelines of Korean medicine for NPC.Conclusion: Further studies related to Korean medicine are needed to develop more advanced clinical practice NPC guidelines.
