This survey on professionalism and job satisfaction was aimed to analyze the veterinarians' attitude toward their profession and educational needs in Korea. Two hundred and ninety nine completed questionnaires were analyzed for this study. The participants considered nontechnical competences, such as communication skills and ethical decision making skills, important as medical knowledge and skills for veterinarians. There were significant differences in veterinarians' job satisfaction among the subgroups of gender, region, specialty, employment status, and work hours. The factor analysis of adjusted Hall's professionalism scale showed 4 dimensions of Veterinarians' professionalism; belief in self-regulation, belief in public service, using the professional organization as a major referent, and autonomy. Veterinarians' professionalism was significantly related to the job satisfaction. The survey results suggest that the educational program of professionalism should be needed for the professional development of veterinary students and veterinarians.

A simple algorithm that can be used to estimate a healthy person's blood pressure using pulse transit time is proposed in this paper. Fifty healthy students participated in the experiment that was conducted in line with the study. The subjects were asked to exercise on several exercise levels using a bicycle ergometer. Their blood pressures during the succeeding rest period were measured. A simple method was proposed to illustrate the relationship between blood pressure and pulse transit time. The systolic blood pressures as well as the heights and weights of the subjects were regarded as the proper parameters, and a second-order regression curve was produced to estimate the subjects' blood pressures. The mean error of estimation was less than 10 mmHg, which was the mean error of manual measurement. Although our estimation model is so simple, it can be used to estimate continuous blood pressure measurement for bicycle ergometer exercise. The electrocardiograms, photoplethysmograms, and blood pressures, however, could not be measured simultaneously As such, their estimation may be slightly different from the results taken from simultaneous measurements.
The purpose of this study was to design and implementation of database for school health activity. This database system was designed stand-alone application for college school health center without a hospital affiliation and the database system was made of relational database management system, Microsoft access 2000 to be made GUI (Graphic user interface) type design and made up 7 tables: patients. symptoms. departments, income and outgo. medical cures. and medicine. Purpose: The Purpose of this study was to identify and compare professional socialization in student nurses and nurses. Method: The participants were 70 student nurses in the first semester of their senior year, 27 new nurses, and 28 experienced nurses. Professional socialization was measured using the instrument developed by Du Toit(1995). Results: There was a significant difference in scores for total professional socialization among the 3 groups (F=3.650, p=.029) and the score for senior students was higher than that of new nurses. Of the 52 items, there were 10 items which had high scores (over 4) including 'Nurses should act in a professional manner'. 3 items which had low scores (under 3) including 'Nurses are innovative'. Nine items including 'Medical profession recognizes nursing as an autonomous profession' showed significant differences among the 3 groups. Conclusion: The findings suggest that socialization in the professional view of the job and professional role is needed in not only schools but also the clinical fields.
Background : The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of the kinesio taping on the forward head posture and to reduce secondary pain and attitude transformation by applying kinesio taping. Methods : The subjects were the C university students(n = 30) in Chung-buk district without medical history. They were divided into two groups:experimental group(N = 15) and control group(N = 15). Control group was heard verbal instructions to keep right attitude and Experimental group was applied to kinesio taping. Change of an attitude, such as an angle, distance, CROM, CVA, CRA prices, before and after experiment was measured respectively. Result : The results of this study showed that in comparison of pre and post changes, experimental group noticeable changes in angle, CROMSI and CVA(p<.05). Angle, CROMSI and CVA were significant differed between groups(p<.05). Conclusion : Kinesio taping application was seemed to be effective on the improvement of forward head position. Therefore, it is suggested that Kinesio taping application should be one the potential methods to facillitate the forward head position. Comprehensive research is required about a point of time and duration for intervention in clinical approach for subjects.
Purpose: This study examined the effects of trunk side shift exercise on the Cobb's angle. Methods: Fifty-eight subjects (control group=30, scoliosis group=28) were enrolled in this study. The idiopathic scoliosis groups were divided randomly into two groups, a side shift exercise (SSE) group, and a trunk stabilization exercise (TSE) group. The SSE group performed side shift exercise on the developed chair training for eight weeks. The TSE group performed trunk stabilization exercise. A oneway ANOVA test was carried out to compare the results within the idiopathic scoliosis patient group before and after the exercises based on the different exercise methods. Results: The Cobb's angles were compared among control group and SSE group and TSE group. As a result, there was a significant difference from SSE group and TSE group(p=0.000), but there were no significant differences between the SSE and TSE groups (p=0.085). Conclusion: Side shift exercises are effective in improving the Cobb's angle. Therefore, the use of the side shift exercise chair designed in this study can replace general exercise either at work or during studies. Therefore, this method is easily accessible for busy modern students who are exposed to scoliosis or spinal disorders due to a pattern of inactivity.
Recently, there has been active reformation of higher education. This trend has resulted in competency-based education (CBE) in many universities around the world, and dentistry education is no exception. However, it is necessary to keep in mind that CBE is both attractive and has its limitations. In particular, higher education is facing the obstacle of preparing students to survive in a supercomplex world in which nothing can be taken for granted. In addition, the frame of understanding and action lacks stability. In these circumstances, competency-based dentistry curriculum (CBDC) needs to be reestablished to deal with the changes and challenges of a supercomplex world. The purpose of this study is to explore alternatives to current CBDC practices, specifically based on an 'ontological approach.' To achieve this purpose, the importance of the ontological approach in the development of higher education curriculum in the future was examined. Then, the actual status and characteristics of CBDC in the present situation were investigated. Lastly, the development of CBCD based on an ontological approach in dentistry education was suggested.
Scombroid fish poisoning (SFP) is a form of histamine food poisoning caused by the ingestion of improperly stored fish. The term "scombroid" derives from the family name of the fish family first implicated, such as tuna and mackerel. On the other hand, non-scombroid fish species, such as sardine and herring, can also cause histamine poisoning. The histamine is converted from histidine by a bacterial enzyme in the causative fish. Because the symptoms of SFP can easily be confused with food allergies, it is believed to have been significantly under-reported. In 2016, an outbreak of SFP occurred among primary school students who had eaten yellowtail steak in Korea. The most common findings consisted of a rapid onset of flushing of the face and trunk, erythematous and urticarial rash, diarrhea, and headache occurring soon after consuming the spoiled fish. Usually, the course is self-limiting and antihistamines can be used successfully to relieve symptoms, but several life-threatening SFP cases have been reported. Clinical toxicologists should be familiar with SFP and have competency to make a differential diagnosis between fish allergy and histamine poisoning. SFP is a histamine-induced reaction caused by the ingestion of histamine-contaminated fish, whereas a fish allergy is an IgE-mediated reaction. This review discusses the epidemiology, pathophysiology, diagnosis, treatment, and preventive measures of SFP.
Purpose: We investigated the satisfaction of physical therapy course according to teaching ways after COVID-19. Methods: 336 students in major of physical therapy were recruited in this study. Based on the classification of subjects in the national examination, the questionnaire was divided into 6 subjects in the basic field of physical therapy, 2 subjects in the field of physical therapy diagnostic evaluation, 8 subjects in the field of physical therapy intervention, and 3 subjects in other fields. Results: In the basic field of physical therapy, all subjects were shown the high score of the satisfactory in face-to-face classes except for the public health and medical law compared to the non-face-to-face classes and mixed classes. Regarding the field of physical therapy diagnostic evaluation, the principle of diagnostic evaluation was shown the high score of the satisfactory in face-to-face classes compared to the non-face-to-face classes and mixed classes. In the field of physical therapy intervention, all subjects were shown the high score of the satisfactory in face-to-face classes compared to the non-face-to-face classes and mixed classes. Conclusion: We found that the face-to-face classes in most of subjects was shown the high score of satisfactory. We believed that our results can be used as basic data for physical therapy major learning methods.
Lots of educational and medical facilities were actively built along with foreign missionary activities under Korean Empire era. Paiwha Girls' High School is one of the educational facilities and at that time dormitory house was essential for recruiting girl students. Especially Paiwha's dormitory was traditional hanok style, but now an auditorium has built in its place. This study carried on to restore its hanok dormitory house based on the plan sketch which drawn Paiwha Girls' High School magazine. Through the analysis and investigation, we found some results as follows. Paiwha's Hanok Dormitory had composed of 23 dormitories rooms, management space, sanitary space, dining space, etc. In living rooms division, there are three types of rooms, and it's room was 4~5 pyung(坪) in size and using area per person was 1pyung. Besides all rooms were connected by a corridor. The structure was 5-ryang(樑) type without high column or with one high column. Looking at structure and the shape of the roof on the historic photos, it seems to be a lower roof slope than other traditional house because of reducing its weight. But its span between two columns was wider relatively.
