This thesis presents the 'Information and the Library' curriculum and the roles of teacher-librarians. Related to 'The School Library Promotion Law', this thesis presents the effects teacher-librarians instruct 'Information and the Library' curriculum to the school libraries, and the challenges related to this curriculum. This thesis contains the role and work of three kinds of staff in the school library. implementation of primary and secondary 'Information and the Library' curriculum for information literacy instruction in the school libraries, the effects by 'Information and the Library' curriculum. and challenges of 'Information and the Library' curriculum. Conclusively, teacher-librarians should accomplish their own instructional activities with 'Information and the Library' curriculum in the school curricula as differentiated work from librarians.

The knowledge-based society needs creative and active knowledge workers. To meet the need of this modern society, Korea education begins to focus on reading ability of students and project-based school education. The 7th School Education Program requires performance evaluation, optional activites, and extracurricular activites and the school library is a necessary facility for these educational activities. Ministry of Education of Korea made a master plan to rebuild the school library for The 7th School Education Program. The master plan includes the assistance for the school library facility, school library materials, budget, the library staff. And also the master plan includes promotion for school education in the library to develop the school library as the center of school education.

The purpose of this study is to examine the current status of university library operation through the five laws of library science and suggest ways to improve it. To this end, the operation status of four national and public university libraries was analyzed with the scope of the study as the Busan area. Furthermore, for an in-depth investigation, the P University library in Busan was examined as a case. The operation status of national and public university libraries in the Busan region was analyzed by dividing them into the categories of university library collection materials, facilities, staff, material purchase costs, and users from 2018 to 2022. In particular, there was a decrease in users and a shortage of librarians due to COVID-19. In the case study, the operation status of P University library was investigated focusing on the first and fifth laws of Ranganathan's five laws of library science. In the first law, the study was conducted on the aspects of access to and use of the collection, library location, usage time and book lending, and staff. In the fifth law, the investigation was divided into service improvement aspects according to changes in digital technology of P University library and library environment improvement aspects according to changes in user characteristics. As a result of the study, 'establishment of library space composition strategy', 'establishment of blue ocean strategy', and 'expansion of recruitment and deployment of librarians' were suggested as improvement plans.

This study surveyed and analyzed school library festival that is being carried out in elementary schools of Seoul region. In doing so, it carried out questionnaire and interview survey targeting people in charge of library and students who are participating in the school library festival. The findings can be summarized with such components as follows. Major characteristics of the programs of the school library festival, the impact of Decimal Classification on the festival, change of participants' interest in book, the satisfaction of library staff and students are included. Based on the findings, major suggestions were made on activation of the school library festival.

The purpose of this study is to identify the current status of staff in school libraries and to provide suggestions for the development of these facilities through the job satisfaction of itinerant librarians, who act as support for schools which lack permanent staff. For employees in the South Korean provinces of South Jeolla, North Gyeongsan and South Gyeonsan, regions which currently operate using systems of itinerant librarians, the general status, work characteristics and systems were identified, and job satisfaction was surveyed. As a result of the survey, librarians may be in charge of anywhere from ten to two hundred schools, with approximately 30% of them being affiliated with public libraries in various municipalities. The overall job satisfaction averaged out to a score of 3.45 out of 5, with the categories of duties (4.15), a feeling of accomplishment (3.89) and communication (3.70) showing above average results, while opportunities for promotion (2.08) and job training (1.96) were on the lower end of the scale. For better job satisfaction, this study suggests an increase in the number of itinerant librarians, more job training, and having these professionals be affiliated with school boards rather than public libraries.

Efficient use of scientific and technical information is indispensable for research and development. This study is aimed at new system design of Agricultural Information for RDA Library operation by an expeditious system for appropriate support of research activities through information service. Current Library management factors such as organization, budget, collections, staff. space, and information service was surveyed and user's requirements was also evaluated. In order of optimize the information system performance the new designed system was suggested as follows : 1) Existing dispersed library functions have to be unified as a whole 2) Library could be reorganize as a independent unit 3) Construction of inter-library network between libraries engaged in the same field highly recommand for the exchange of information.

This study examines the changing process of standard and development of school library in advanced countries including Britain, United States, Japan and Korea. Also, this study compares and analyzes recent school library standards in the each countries. The examination is based on the common elements including staff, material, environments, management, cooperation system, and learning skill showed in the each of advanced countries. Finally, the study suggests the model of reasonable standard for the activation of school library in Korea.

The purpose of this article is to identify the problems that Korean library and information policies (LIP) are facing with and to suggest its future direction for advancement. To the end, discussions include both progress and problems related to legal provision, government organization, administrative staff, professionals, finance, and master plans. Based on a thorough literature survey, this article begins from an analysis on the conceptual definitions of 'library and information policies,' explains the problems and limitations of Korean LIPs before 2006(the year when new 'library act' was established), and introduces major changes in Korean LIPs after 2006. Finally suggested are both strategies and methods to resolve the problems and limitations that Korean LIPs are facing with.

The development of new technology and the change of educational environment are much influencing the primary and middle school education. The school library which is very important part of school education in order to perform its functions effectively and efficiently must be provided with professional staff, necessary resources and adequate facilities. It is necessary to redesign and renovate existing facilities to meet the growing needs of newly developed school library programs and to effectively manage and allocate physical space appropriately. The objective of this research is to study the theoretical background of the subject and to find out present conditions and future needs of school library facilities and environmental change in Korea through a predesigned questionnaire for a redesign proposal.

The National Library of Korea installs and operates various signs for the purpose of efficient use of visitor and information transmission. In this study, the present status of the existing signatures of the National Library of Korea was surveyed and the satisfaction survey was conducted for the patron and staff. Based on this, we suggested the improvement of visual continuity (connectivity), changing the installation location, reduction of excess sign, limitations of temporary attachment signatures, and easy to understand contents as user's guide to efficient library use and improvement of National Central Library sign system.
