  • This article intends to explore the formation of furniture terms with the name of furniture, furniture materials, tools, and machinery from eight furniture companies manufacturing their own different furniture items. As a result of this study, the terms can be abstracted as four things as follows. First of all, the terminology that the furniture firms is are unified over 80 percent and has no problem on the communication among the companies. Especially office furniture all is using common words because the terms are almost fixed by an administration agreement relating to the Supply Administration. Second, the furniture terms being used at the fields are mixed with Korean, English, and Japanese, and this current state shows more at small businesses than at large businesses Third, the terms of foreign words, almost English, present 48 percent as 156 words among the total 325 terms. Japanese shows 6 percent as 21 terms but it tends to be handed down from mouth to mouth with inaccurate conditions. Finally, the formation of the terms are from the original words or English, from the combination of Korean and foreign words for convenience at the fields, and from being created as Korean newly in considering Korea's special situation.

  • The mass mortalities have been occurring of Korean scallop Patinopecten yessoensis from 1997's to now in Korea east sea. Cages behavior and interference effect (common name; curtain effect) between scallop cages were investigated in culture grounds on the eastern coastal waters of Korea for understand to mechanism of rising about mass mortalities of Korean scallop quickly. The first experiment was carried out in circulating water channel to assess inclination angel from relationship between velocity and cages interval, velocity with culture cages position. An angle of inclination of scallop culture cages were 94.6 to 92.3 degree under a several velocity which were from 0.1 m/s and 131.9 to 118.1 degree under 0.5 m/s with cages interval were 1 m, 94.3 to 91.0 degree under velocity is 0.1 m/s and 133.2 to 122.4 degree under 0.5 m/s with cages interval were 1.5 m and 94.6 to 96.4 degree under velocity is 0.1 m/s and 131.7 to 131.8 under 0.5 m/s with cages interval were 2 m. The second experiment was designed to prove the tank test. Velocities were measured inside and outside of the scallop culture ground at eastern sea of Korea. The velocity of inside of the culture was the slowest as 0.1m/s. In this result, interference between former cage and after cage was occurred.

  • Objectives : Qianjinyifang Shanghan is an important versions of Shanghanlun, but it was never introduced widely, and studies on its were not done a lot. Thus, the author seeks to study this book in order to find its special features, its relationship with other versions of Shanghanlun, and its status in the process of the transmission of Shanghanlun. Methods : Dissertations on Qianjinyifang Shanghan and dissertations that compare Yuhanben and Songben were studied. Sentences were numbered based on Qianjinyifang Shanghan, Tangbenshanghanlunjiaozhu to compare with other versions of Shanghanlun. Results : Sunsimiao brought the changes of "以法方類證, 方證同條 比類相附" in Shanghanlun. It organized Taiyangbing chapters according to their decoction pattern, and made Taiyangbing chapter name as "太陽病用${\cdots}$湯法". Chì shi ye was placed in front of Taiyangbìngyongguizhitangfa. Jueyinbing and Liouhuibing were combined to one that were seperated in Yuhanben. Shanghanyiji titlel was put in front of Yijipian to distinguish clearly from Sanyinsanyangpian. Sanyinsanyangpian and Yijipian contains many sentences that are missing in Songben. Conclusions : Qianjinyifang Shanghan is one of the major Shanghanluns that were saved by Jiaozhengyishuju I Northern Song Period, and it was put together as an independent book after the Ming and Qing dynasties. It plays an important role in the process of the transmission of Shanghanlun in 800 years, through 3C, 7C, and 11C. Moreover, when we compare the three books of Qianjinyifang Shanghan, Yuhanben, and Songben's Sanyinsanyangpian and Yijipian's sentences, we could know that they began from a common original text, but they became branched, and Qianjinyifang Shanghan has a closer relationship with Yuhanben. Sanyinsanyangpian and Yijipian sentences can serve to supplement what is missing in today's Songben.

  • Polygoni multiflori Radix has been used as a tonic medicine. In Korea, Cynanchi wilfordii Radix have been used too. Their names are resembled, but their plant origines are different. Polygoni multiflori Radix is called 何首烏 or 赤何首烏, and Cynanchi wilfordii Radix is 白何首烏 or 白首烏. They are suggested that they had been confused using at the early days in drug history. Polygoni multiflori Radix is enclosed in the pharmacopoeias of Korea, North Korea, Chinese and Japan. The nomina of pharmacopoeias are 赤何首烏 at North Korea and 何首烏 at other countries; Korea, Chinese and Japan. Cynanchi wilfordii Radix is just enclosed in Korea and North Korea. It means that Cynanchi wilfordii Radix has been commonly prescribed in Korea and North Korea than other countries. The nomina of pharmacopoeias are 白首烏 in Korea and 白何首烏 in North Korea. The characteristics of 何首烏 in ancient herbal records are confused of Polygoni multiflori Radix and Cynanchi wilfordii Radix. But Polygoni multiflori Radix is fixed at 何首烏 later. In Korea (south and north) Cynanchi wilfordii Radix has been recorded to using in 東醫寶鑑 that was Korea traditional Medicinal book and wrote at 1613. The 白首烏 is named in chinese about 20 century, but 白何首烏 is in korea about 19 century. In these consequences, prescription of Cynanchi wilfordii Radix in Korea is earlier than Chinese and Japan, and more common consumption too. So the nomen of 白何首烏 is better properly than 白首烏 in Korean Herbal pharmacopoeia.

  • We report a newly naturalized species of the genus Bidens L. (Asteraceae) in Korea, specifically Bidens subalternans DC. var. subalternans. This naturalized plant was discovered Geumjung-gu in Busan; Gyeongsan-si, Jillyang-eup in Gyeongbuk-do; and in Buk-gu in Daegu. Bidens subalternans var. subalternans is distinguishable from other Bidens in Korea by the following combination of characteristics: an odd-pinnate leaf, deeply lobed, narrow lanceolate, four lobes in the corolla, an oblong achene shape. This taxon is termed 'Wang-do-kka-bi-ba-neul' as a common Korean name based on its large size (in particular, the size of leaf). The key for all taxa of the genus Bidens in Korea is also provided here.

  • $Lokap{\bar{a}}las$ are understood as the deities of four directions in Buddhism: $Dhrtar{\bar{a}}stra$ in the East, $Vir{\bar{u}}dhaka$ in the South, $Vir{\bar{u}}p{\bar{a}}ksa$ in the West and $Vai{\acute{s}}ravana$ in the North respectively. Their common name is, therefore, called as the "Four Guardian Kings", whose function is to prevent demonic forces from entering into its sacred world. Although the position of $Lokap{\bar{a}}las$ is to the lowest level in the hierarchy of the minor deities in Buddhism, the cult of $Lokap{\bar{a}}las$ was widely spread and prominent in the countries of Northern Buddhism. It played a significant role in terms of the state-protecting Buddhism, on behalf of it's esoteric and magic power. More than 20 Gateways of the $Lokap{\bar{a}}las$ and $Lokap{\bar{a}}la$ statues were still well preserved in Korea, and they were believed to be constructed after the Japanese attack in 1592. After war, monks had concentrated on restoring ruined temples and building many new Gateways of the Four Guardian Kings over the Korean peninsular. Under such circumstances, even though the $Lokap{\bar{a}}las$ played a significant role as the subject of cult in Korean Buddhism. they might have a small chance to be taught traditional Lama iconography exactly. The purpose of this essay is to examine the relation of orientation of the Gate way of $Lokap{\bar{a}}las$ and allocation of each Kings inside the gate.

  • Objectives : The purpose of this study was to assume the origin and daily dose of Allii Chinensis Bulbus in Treatise on Cold Damage Diseases and Prescriptions of the Gold Chamber. Methods : I assumed the origin with Book of Materica Medica such as Illustration and Classic of Materia Medica(本草圖經), Illustration and Consideration of Plant's Name and Reality(植物名實圖考), The Korean Herbal Pharmacopoeia Forth Edition, Annotation of Hangeul Treatise of Cold Damages Diseases, and daily dose based on general principle applied on dose of Treatise on Cold Damage Diseases. Results : In Treatise on Cold Damage Diseases and Prescriptions of the Gold Chamber, the original species of Allii Chinensis Bulbus was Allium chinense G. Don. It was to be measured with weight. It was too big to write on size due to it's 10~30mm length and 3~12mm in diameter. And due to irregular size, it can't be written on number, too. Daily dose of Allii Chinensis Bulbus in Whaeyeok-san(回逆散), Gwalluhaebaekbanha-tang(栝樓薤白半夏湯) was 3 Ryang(兩), which was the most common case in Treatise on Cold Damage Diseases. And that in Gwalluhaebaekgyeji-tang(栝樓薤白桂枝湯), Gwalluhaebaekbaekju-tang(栝樓薤白白酒湯) is 8 Ryang(兩), which was the largest dose as dried herb in Treatise on Cold Damage Diseases Conclusions : The original species of Allii Chinensis Bulbus was Allium chinense G. Don. The daily dose of Allii Chinensis Bulbus was 3 Ryang(兩)(19.5g) in Whaeyeok-san and Gwalluhaebaekbanha-tang, and was 8 Ryang(兩)(52g) in Gwalluhaebaekgyeji-tang and Gwalluhaebaekbaekju-tang.
