  • The purposes of this study was to identify the typology of clothing purchase situation considered by female students and to find out the relationship between clothing purchase situation and clothing evaluative criteria. Data were obtained from 223 female undergraduate students living in Busan, and analyzed by factor analysis, Cronbach's alpha, Pearson's correlation, cannonical correlation and regres-sion analysis. The results were as follows; 1. There were three types of clothing purchase situation considered by female students; antecedent states were momentary moods and conditions such as depression, unpleasantness, and sufficient time, point-of·purchase situations were physical surrounding and social surround-ing such as store atmosphere and salesperson, and communication situations were consisted of catalog, advertising and usability of credit cards or installment tickets. 2. There were high the relationships between clothing purchase situations and clothing evaluative criteria. It was the communication situation that reflected the most of the clothing evaluative criteria, and extrinsic criteria that explained the most the clothing purchase situ-tions.

  • 3D printing has been considered a key technology, leading the fourth industrial revolution. However, 3D printed textile still has a lot of limitations to overcome before it can be adopted as a clothing material in terms of design, flexibility and dyeability. This study aims to provide modeling design for imparting the flexibility and post-dyeing process for 3D printed textiles. The modeling types were designed to test the flexibility of 3D printed textiles. The post-dyeing process was evaluated through dye absorption depending on the resin and modeling types, respectively. The results were as follows: two types of modeling (Modeling A and B) were designed with a ring structure to test the flexibility of the 3D printed textiles. The 3D printed textiles with ring-based structure Modeling A had flexibility regardless of the hardness of resin types. In the dyeability test, softening resin (S-Resin) and hardening resin (H-Resin) were found to have good dyeability with acid dye and direct dye, respectively. The condition of S-Resin with acid dye and H-Resin with direct dye was controlled by dye absorption rate.

  • The purpose of this research is to examine the effect of the 1997 economic crisis on Korean households' clothing expenditures at different incom levels. The raw data sets from the Family Income and Expenditure Survey of 1994, 1996, 198, and 2000 produced by the National Statistical Office were used. Based on their income data, subjects were divided into three groups: upper-income (upper 30%), low-income(lower 30%), and middle-income (the 40% in between). The main results are as follows : 1) the income, consumption expenditures (ConE) and clothing expenditures (CloE) of Korean households increased in 1996, decreased in 1998 and recovered in 2000. Although the proportion of ConE to income increased after the economic crisis, CloE/ConE decreased. Clothing expenditures displayed an asymmetric pattern over the economic crisis : the clothing expenditures decreased severely and quickly during the groups. 2) Compared to other household expenditures, clothing expenditure patterns were unique and of clothing categories, the propottion of expenditures for outwear decreased considerably compared to other categories after the economic crisis.

  • In order to investigate the mechanism of the formation of clothing microclimate with different blouse designs and materials, physiological and subjective sensational changes were measured. Experimental clothing were four types of blouse made of $100\%$ cotton, $100\%$ regular polyester, and $100\%$ hygroscopic polyester. Four types of box style blouse were with stand collar and long sleeve, with stand collar and sleeveless, with long sleeve and collarless, and sleeveless and collarless. Five healthy female were chosen as subjects. Experiments were carried out in the environmental chamber controlled at $28{\pm}1^{\circ}C$ , $70{\pm}5\%$ RH. and still-air condition for SO min. The skin temperature (9 spots), oral temperature, humidity inside chest, and subjective sensations were measured. Obtained results are: I) Material which is capable of absorbing sweat effectively and transfering moisture rapidly made a comfortable feeling, because clothing humidity is increasing slowly at this material. 2) During exercise period, covered arms have more influenced on thermal comfort than a covered neck.

  • In this study, clothing consumption behaviors of Russian and Korean female college students were compared. Data were collected by conducting surveys in Russia and Korea. In results, Russian female college students spent considerably more money on clothing than did Korean students, compared to the income level. Korean consumers bought clothing mostly in the department stores, whereas Russian consumers preferred large shopping centers, discount stores and traditional markets to shop clothing. As important factors affecting clothing purchase decision, Russian consumers considered country of origin while Korean consumers considered style. Korean consumers were satisfied more on domestic brands than did Russian consumers while Russians were more satisfied with foreign brands than did Koreans. Russian consumers considered diverse factors in forming attitude and buying intention toward domestic and foreign brands. In contrast, Korean consumers' attitude and purchase intention were influenced much by style. Based on study results, marketing implications were provided.
