Identification of paint on victim's clothing and a vehicle are valuable for forensic examination when investigating hit-and-run accidents. Automotive paints on clothes are used to prove a victim caused by traffic accident and to identify a suspected vehicle. The comparison of transferred paints between victim's vehicle and suspected vehicle can be an important evidence in reconstructing the accident situation and in discovering the truth. The paints such as white, yellow, red, blue, or black are hard to examine particle shape under a stereomicroscope because of it is not included aluminum, pearl, and mica flakes in the pigments. The aim of this study under forensic aspect is to compare pigment among basecoat layers of solid paints by identifying inorganic elemental compositions and binder resins of pigments using by micro-FT-IR and micro-XRF spectrometer. The pigment samples were analyzed by using two methods of FT-IR: Reflectance and ATR method. Two methods of FT-IR were useful in discriminating binder resins of pigments by comparing characteristic peaks and patterns of spectra. Also, XRF spectrometer could identify the elemental compositions in inorganic pigments of trace paints which are difficult to compare the identification by FT-IR.

Due to globalization and the increasing number of international marriages, Korea has become a multicultural society. In 2012, the Korean Ministry of Education established guidelines for education on multicultural understanding for all K-12 students. The purpose of this study is to understand how education on multicultural understanding is conducted and to provide suggestions for improvements. Based on the six goals of multicultural curriculum in Bennett's conceptual model, this study explores how multicultural education specialists conduct their instructions and how they convey the value of multicultural understanding in public schools. Four multicultural education specialists were recruited, and various qualitative data were collected from pre- and post-interviews and classroom observations. The data were analyzed through thematic analysis. The study findings show that the participants educated elementary students by introducing their own (or spouse's) culture through their traditional clothes, food, and customs. This indicated that they focused mainly on developing multiple historical perspectives and strengthening intercultural competence. However, their current education on multicultural understanding may not help students to increase an awareness of the state of the planet and global dynamics, and to build social action skills. Finally, we suggest that multicultural education should be integrated and infused into national (regular) curricula so that all students can enhance their multicultural understanding.

Cases of green tobacco sickness were described. During the cutting of tobacco plants throughout harvest, four cases of green tobacco sickness occurred in August 2001, Korea. The range of age was 42-55 years. The most frequent symptoms included dizziness, weakness, nausea, vomiting, abdominal cramps, headache, and difficulty breathing. All affected individuals worked in fields of wet tobacco, where their clothes became wet from moisture on the plants or sweating. They were all healthy, except one with hypertension. They are all non-smokers. They recovered after fluid and antiemetic administrations within two days. Most of doctors misdiagnosed their symptoms as a pesticide poisoning or heat injury. Green tobacco sickness is a condition that has long been known as an occupational health risk among tobacco harvesters. Nicotine poisoning by dermal absorption is reported to be the cause of green tobacco sickness. In Korea, there are many tobacco harvesters, and most of them may be sticken with green tobacco sickness. But, no case of green tobacco sickness has been reported. We report cases of green tobacco sickness occurred to the tobacco harvesters with a review of articles.

The purposes of this study were to 1) examine the tendency of elementary school students' self-esteem and clothing behavior, 2) find out the difference in their clothing behavior in accordance with the demographic characteristics and the level of their self-esteem, and 3) analyze the relationship between self-esteem and clothing behavior. This process was to understand the clothing behavior of elementary school students and to provide basic data needed for a desirable clothing life education for them. The subjects of this study were 403male and female fifth and sixth graders from elementary schools located in Suwon, Gyeonggi-do. The results of this study were as follows : First, elementary school students' self-esteem and clothing behavior were found to be in the mid-level. The sub-factors of clothing behavior were indicated in the order of clothing independence, clothing comfort, clothing management, clothing interest and clothing conformity. Second, there were differences in clothing behavior in accordance with the demographic characteristics and the level of their self-esteem. Female students had higher level of clothing conformity, clothing interest and clothing management than male students, while males had higher clothing comfort than females. Fifth graders, compared to sixth graders, had higher clothing management and lower clothing independence. Students who received \20,000 or more allowance a month had higher clothing conformity and clothing interest, and lower clothing comfort. Higher clothing interest was found when students had jobless mothers. The higher the students' self-esteem was, the higher their clothing management level was. Finally, elementary school students' self-esteem was found to have a positive relationship with clothing management. In other words, elementary school students with higher self-esteem manage their clothes better.
The purpose of this research is to analyze how appropriately the sizing of domestically produced children's wear compares to children's sizes; it is based on an anthropometric survey conducted in 1998. By discovering and understanding discrepancies between the sizing system of children s wear and the real size of children, this study aims to suggest solutions that will lead to increased comfort and more suitable fitting in children's clothes. This research analyzes and compares 'the extent of growth between age groups' with 'the difference in sizing system in use by manufacturers'. The study focused on aged 4 to 12 children, who are usually divided in two groups; primary students and toddlers. In total, seven sizes were selected: bust, waist, and hip (which are girth sizes), and height, back neck to waist (top length), sleeve length, and waist to ankle (slacks length) as representing length. The results of this research are analyzed by basing on the actual increments between the sizes of children's wear in certain basic items rather than sizes themselves because each size quite differed according to companies, items and designs. Significantly, the increase in the sizing was not as great as the average biennial growth rate of children. The consequences are poorer fit and unsuitable representative value for each age group because the actual sizes of children increasingly differ from the sample size. Observing the increments in several sizes, we found that 81.8% of the companies used the certain and equal increases for grading sizes in sleeve length, waist, and bust. In addition, 72.7% of the companies adopted the same increments between sizes in height and hip girth, and 63.6% also chose equal increments in T-shirt length for making smaller or bigger sizes from the sample size. However, sleeve length and pant length were the components that displayed the most varied sizing. Interestingly, the few companies that used different increments between size groups, adopted the change only between one or two size groups, instead of all sizes. In conclusion, this research reveals the unsuitability of the current sizing system and the necessity to increase consumer confidence in the size tags on children's wear by modifying the system to reflect the actual growth of children. The results can also contribute to future study on the development of a new and more accurate sizing system for children's wear.

The purpose of this study is to measure and analyze primary causes of indoor air pollution, including carbon dioxide, minute dust, and total volatile organic compounds, for each room before the beginning of a class through the time of discharge after the end of the class in general classrooms, computer rooms, and science rooms of three newly-established schools that opened in 2006, examine properties of indoor air environment in each room by educational activities at school, and determine effective management schemes; the results of this study can be summarized as follows: 1) As for implications for each item found in the mean for each place, since minute dust (PM10) was more likely to occur in time slots full of students' activities, such as a traveling class and a recess, than in the middle of a class and could be expected fully, it is necessary to make a scheme for cleaning in order to reduce minute dust within a room, for example, by usually using a vacuum cleaner indoors. 2) While carbon dioxide was expected to vary with the differences in the amount of breath between higher-graders and lower-graders in a general classroom but showed insignificant difference by grades, showing differences in pollution by four times at a maximum according to the opening of a window as expected, it is necessary to implement artificial or natural ventilation and take a positive measure, for example, by presenting a concrete ventilation scheme, in order to improve indoor air pollution at a room practice. 3) Total volatile organic compounds were found to exceed the standard by more than twice in general classrooms, science rooms, and computer rooms of the schools because of building materials, furnitures including desks and chairs, panels and boards for environment beautification, and items which could be detected even from students' clothes; while a field directly-reading tool was used, obtaining high reliability for the results, it is necessary to apply an analytical method based on process test separately for actual correct measurement if a significantly great amount of total volatile organic compounds appear as compared with other schools due to measuring expenses and consecutive measurements. 4) Since formaldehyde (HCHO) was generally found to exceed the standard in general classrooms, science rooms, and computer rooms, it is necessary to establish and operate a ventilator during a class in a computer room which requires airtightness and a science room in which an organic compound should be used for a class.

The purpose of this paper is to investigate the adequate clothing pressure of upper and lower body foundation garment and subjective assessment of those compressive foundation depending on various wearing conditions. Eighteen women in their 30s and 40s participated in the experiments for this study to evaluate the level of clothing pressure of girdle and waist nipper. Subjects were divided into two groups by the wearing habits of foundation, one is the group of wearing foundation garment 'tightly' and the other is 'loosely', It was found that the group wearing foundation garment 'loosely' was much more sensitive than the group of 'tightly' in everyday life. The adequate pressure of upper foundation, waist nipper was about $1.5{\pm}0.8$ kPa which is lower than that of the lower body foundation, girdle. And at the same time, the sensitivity of the pressure level was higher when subjects are wearing waist nipper compared with wearing girdle. Therefore, precise pattern making process is necessary to meet the adequate level of pressure of the upper body foundation such as waist nipper, specially for those who used to wear clothing loosely.
Packaged meal manufacturing establishments in Seoul city and Kyungkido province were assessed in terms of the sanitary conditions and practices, time and temperature, and microbiological quality. Sanitary check-lists were developed to evaluate the sanitary condition of sampled packaged meal manufacturing establishments. Microbiological tests on.food containers, equipments, and foods in various phases of product flow were done. The results of the study are summarized as follows; 1) Sanitary condition of kitchen.and sanitary practices of employees in.large and medium establishments were evaluated as the some improvement required in order to meet all standards. But sanitary practices of employees in small establishments were evaluated as the unsatisfactory state with negligence or ignorance of safe practice. 2) The microbiological quality of basic ingredients and food materials after pre-preparation were poor. 3) Time and temperature data indicated that phases of holding ingredients at room temperature after cooking, assembly and packaging before delivery were critical. 4) Microbiological test results for food containers, equipments indicated that sanitary conditions of stainless steel ware, knife, wiping clothes and cutting board should be improved promptly. 5) Critical control points identified were ingredients, pre-preparation, Holding, and assembly and packaging. 6) Guidelines were suggested for effective quality control of packaged meals production.

The goal of this research is to determine the variables which influence adolescents' environmental-friendly clothing consumption behaviors. A questionnaire was prepared to survey 768 students in 8 different middle and high schools throughout Seoul. The results of the studies are as follows; First, the experiences in environmental activities were higher than the average. Second, the level of environmental-friendly values was found to be higher than the average. Among the values, environmental-preservation scored the highest, whereas selfishness scored the lowest. Third, adolescents have the strongest desire to express their individuality by means of clothing, which includes comfortableness, price, fashion, and brand. Fourth, the environmental-friendly clothing consumption awareness was average. In this field's subcategory, disposal awareness was above the average. But when buying clothes, the awareness of environmental problems was lower than the common level. Fifth, adolescents were lower in environmental-friendly clothing consumption behavior than the common level. In the subcategory, using behavior and disposal behavior were on the average, but buying behavior was executed in an anti-eco-friendly manner. Sixth, adolescents' price pursuit and clothing disposal consciousness were important factors of environmental-friendly clothing consumption behavior.
