  • The purpose of this study is to analyze types of roles and fashion of the Chinese first ladies and provide basic data for fashion image-making of first ladies. As for the research methods, the concepts, role types, and fashion of the first ladies were considered by referring to the precedent studies and relevant literature. Then, the fashion images according to role types were analyzed by collecting the photos of Chinese first ladies from the period of the Republic of China until today. The results were as follows: First, when the roles of Chinese first ladies were categorized based on ceremonial, political, and policy roles, Zhuo Lin and Wang Yeping played a ceremonial role; Wang Guangmei, Liu Yongqing, and Peng Liyuan played a political role; and Soong Qingling, Soong Mayling, and Jiang Qing played a policy role while they were first ladies. While the first ladies of the Republic of China often wore classic Chinese styles like traditional qipao as well as western clothes which contained a western influence, the first ladies of the People's Republic of China wore more colorful clothes and more accessories in the later period, and also often wore clothes that combined traditional and western elements. Second, first ladies who played a ceremonial role showed mannish and classic images; those who played a political role showed elegant, classic, and diverse images according to T.P.O; and those who played a policy role showed feminine, modern, and mannish images. Fashion images of the first ladies varied according to the level of political involvement, the sociocultural background of China at that time, and their personality and preference.

  • This study aims to investigate the context of materials in literature textbooks and the awareness about the educational value of classical literature, as part of an interest in literature education phenomena. This study accepts the premise that textbooks affect the practice of classical literature education and, in particular, materials in textbooks are chosen according to the intentions, demands, and perspectives of education in specific social conditions. I divided the educational value of classical literature into two categories, classical and literary value, and investigated the actual conditions and context of materials of literature textbooks based on the 2009 revised curriculum and the 2011 revised curriculum. Classical literature is generally alienated and excluded; contemporary literature materials are mostly included and organized in the domains of 'the role of literature', 'reception and production of literature' and 'literature and life.' In addition, the tendency to heighten classical value and diminish literary value is deepening. In order to solve the problem that classical literature is only included as the product of the past, changes must be made not just to the curriculum, which are external changes, but to the awareness of the essence of classical literature, which are internal changes. Above all, generality as 'literature' and the sense of distance about space and time as 'classic' should be connected to various relationships which respond to problematic situations and the demands of learners. Based on the relationships, we can expect a rich diversity of contexts and aspects of included classical literature. In addition, an extension of the width and scope of included classical literature is anticipated. The reduction of workload, the advent of the concept of capability and the dissolution of traditional literature concepts are the changes of external environment, which is continuously requiring renewed investigation into classical literature beyond simple appropriateness.

  • This article set out to develop an old Chinese - modern Korean collated terminology by analyzing and paralleling Chinese-Korean translational terms relevant to Korean medicine at a minimum meaning unit from "Eonhaegugeupbang", "Eonhaetaesanjipyo" and "Eonhaetaesanjipyo". Those are composed of original Chinese texts and their subsequent corresponding Korean translations. It tries to make a list of translational standards of Korean medicine terms by classifying the cases of translational ambiguity in terms of disease, body position, thumbnail-pressing acupuncture method, and disease-curing method. The above-mentioned ancient books are medical classics written by Huh Jun, the representative medical physician, and published by the Joseon government. Thus, they are appropriate enough as historically legitimate medical documents, from which are drawn out words and terms to form an old Chinese - modern Korean collation dictionary. This collation glossary will contribute to the increased relevance of data ming, or information retrieval. in a database system and information search engine of massive Korean medical records, by means of providing a novel way to obtaining synchronized results between the original writings of old Chinese and the secondary translated ones of modern Korean. The glossary will promote the collective but consistent translation of numerous old archives of Korean medicine and in other related fields as well.

We have conducted a study of developing an algorithm that support clinical diagnosis with composing both users knowledge and data obtained from literature. In order to define necessary information and required steps in diagnosis procedure, we have established a clinical diagnostic procedure including a step of collecting patients symptoms, a step of determining candidates, a step of diagnostic decisions, a step of deciding of treatment and a step of adjusting medicinal treatment. Methods : Our study have been based on the following premises. 1. Using data obtained from literature contributes to accurate diagnosis 2. Displaying the data before users request contributes to accurate conclusion. Displaying before users request enable users to recognize their overlooking a fact on purpose or not. 3. Checking symptoms that are commonly accompanied with a group of diseases that accompany symptoms appealed by a patient contributes to accurate conclusion. These symptoms are worthy of checking. 4. Comparing more than two candidates contributes to accurate conclusion. Users can compare their accompanied symptoms with patients symptoms and this helps users to make a decision. Results : Based on the above premises, we have developed an literature based algorithm to provide various functions, such as recommending symptoms to check, comparing groups of symptoms, differential diagnosis, recommending medicinal materials to prescribe, and more. Conclusions : By the results of simulation with virtual diagnostic scenario, we concluded this algorithm is useful helping clinician in diagnosis procedure.

  • The history of vegetable preservation technology by salting and fermentation in Korea was reviewed from the Three Nations Era to the end of Chosun Kingdom, and the development of present day's Kimchi processing technology was traced back by using the classic books as well as recent review papers published in Korea. Although the written record on salting and fermentation of vegetables first appears in a 12th century literature (Dongkukisangkukjib, Gyu-Bo Lee $1168{\sim}1241$), the use of salted/fermented vegetables could be dated back to the Three Nations Era $(B.C.\;37{\sim}A.D.\;668)$ and even earlier period. The present type of Kimchi was gradually evolved after the introduction of red pepper into Korea in the 17th century. The descriptions on Kimchi fermention appeared in the literatures written in the period of $16th{\sim}19th$ centuries in Korea, Suunjapbang $(1500{\sim})$, Domundaijak (1611), Sasichanyocho (1656), Eumsikdimibang (1670), Chubangmun $(1600{\sim})$, Saekgyung (1676), Yorok $(1600{\sim})$, Sanlimkyungje (1715), Cheungbosanlimkyungje (1766), Kyuhapchongsoe $(1800{\sim})$, Imwonsipyukji (1827), Dongkuksesiki (1849) and Buinpylji $(1855{\sim})$ were reviewed.

  • Since the mid-twentieth century, geology has gradually evolved as an interdisciplinary context in South Korea. The journal of Economic and Environmental Geology (EEG) has a long history of over 52 years and published interdisciplinary articles based on geology. In this study, we performed a literature review using topic modeling based on Latent Dirichlet Allocation (LDA), an unsupervised machine learning model, to identify geological topics, historical trends (classic topics and emerging topics), and association by analyzing titles, keywords, and abstracts of 2,571 publications in EEG during 1968-2020. The results showed that 8 topics ('petrology and geochemistry', 'hydrology and hydrogeology', 'economic geology', 'volcanology', 'soil contaminant and remediation', 'general and structural geology', 'geophysics and geophysical exploration', and 'clay mineral') were identified in the EEG. Before 1994, classic topics ('economic geology', 'volcanology', and 'general and structure geology') were dominant research trends. After 1994, emerging topics ('hydrology and hydrogeology', 'soil contaminant and remediation', 'clay mineral') have arisen, and its portion has gradually increased. The result of association analysis showed that EEG tends to be more comprehensive based on 'economic geology'. Our results provide understanding of how geological research topics branch out and merge with other fields using a useful literature review tool for geological research in South Korea.

  • Background The plastic surgery literature is vast, consisting of a plethora of diverse articles written by a myriad of illustrious authors. Despite this considerable archive of published material, it remains nebulous as to which precise papers have had the greatest impact on our specialty. The aim of this study was to identify the most cited papers in the plastic surgery literature and perform a citation analysis paying particular attention to the evidence levels of the clinical studies. Methods We identified the 50 most cited papers published in the 20 highest impact plastic surgery journals through the Web of Science. The articles were ranked in order of number of citations acquired and level of evidence assessed. Results The top 50 cited papers were published in six different journals between the years 1957 and 2007. Forty-two of the papers in the top 50 were considered as level IV or V evidence. No level I or II evidence was present in the top 50 list. The average level of evidence of the top 50 papers was 4.28. Conclusions In the plastic surgery literature, no positive correlation exists between a high number of citations and a high level of evidence. Anatomical reconstructive challenges tend to be the main focus of plastic surgery rather than pathologic diseases and consequently, papers with lower levels of evidence are relatively more valuable in plastic surgery than many other specialties.

  • Purpose - Although literature has established the relevance of entrepreneurial orientation(EO) in the performance of conventional firms, the constraining nature of franchise arrangement makes one wonders if the same relationship holds for companies operating under the business model. Research design, data, and methodology - Using Nigeria - a country with high potential for franchise growth - as a context, this study aims to explore the relevant entrepreneurial orientation skills exhibited by franchisees and show the extent to which these skills influence their business performance and intention to remain. 26 franchisees purposively selected from six local franchise brands in Nigeria were interviewed. Result and Conclusions - The three classic entrepreneurial orientation factors of innovativeness, proactiveness and risk-taking were found to have varying influence on franchisees' business outcomes. This study answers the calls for more in-depth understanding of the relationship between EO and firm performance generally and, franchise firm performance in particular. The value of this effort lies in the fact that it strengthens theory and updates literature on the subject. Based on the findings, specific recommendations are offered to help improve the practice of franchising in Nigeria.
