  • Many of the modern animations have 3D technology, and as time goes by, their production technology becomes more diverse and sophisticated. When John Alan Lasseter insisted on studying CG animation technology, he might have taken our jobs to the computer in the near future, as many people were worried about. It may be premature to worry that an unstable future may become a reality at this point, but I do not think there will be any difference in the fact that many animations are being produced using 3D technology. Since the Toy Story was screened in 1995, the 3D animation production technology has started to develop rapidly and now it has been elaborately developed so that it can not distinguish the part where computer graphics technology is applied from the live film. On the other hand, Disney's 2D animation part falls into the decline path because the appearance of 3D animation was perceived as a new expression technique at that time, and the efficiency of the work process was superior to the 2D animation in addition to receiving the attention from the audience. Is it necessary to accept the retrogression of 2D animation technology, reflecting the environment of the animation industry that 3D animation production technology has become mainstream in the first 20 years since the first theatrical works appeared? Since 2D animation technology has a long history and is still attractive to the audience, it is not hard to find an attempt to combine 2D and 3D animation technology. In this paper, I want to study 2D hand - drawn character in 3D animation. Through this, it is hoped that animation convergence technology will be applied more actively in the future.

  • The animation industries of Korea and China shares the effort for transition from work-for-hire Industry Into creative industry. In spite of similar industry background and characteristics, and the aggressive government policy to support this industry transition at the same point of time, the current status of animation industries in Korea and China are showing very different statistics as of the end of 2007. The production amount of Chinese original animation has grown rapidly since 2004, which has made China the top class country in the world in original animation production amount, and more than 600 million audience of Chinese TV animation has firmly established the Chinese domestic animation market basis. On the other hand, despite the Korean government support, original animation production of Korea has been showing a slow and sluggish growth, and Korean animations are losing the domestic market basis with only 1% TV ratings due to unfavourable Korean TV stations' programming practices against Korean animations. This different status of animation Industries of two countries are the result of different government policies and the fallacy of Korean government. While the Chinese government has focused its industry policy on the facilitating the domestic market by establishing the stable broadcasting TV distribution and encouraging the animation production through organic cooperation between related government agencies, Korean government spent lots of effort into facilitating the development of original animation projects, without cooperative structure In the government, and without sincere consideration on the importance of establishment of domestic market consumer basis.

  • While visual industry of the 21st century is becoming higher value-added industry, animation which is a representative genre of visual industry is also developed to the industry focused by government. Korea and China also pursue the development of animation as government executed animation industry promotion policy after the 2000s. However, its results are still under the expectation. Korea hopes advance of Chinese market because of the limitation of market and China is also one of the markets we want to grow together due to the vitalization of Korean visual market. Therefore, if examining characteristics of Korean and Chinese animation industry which is still influenced by government policy and analyzing characteristics of government policies of two countries so as to seek measures to exchange each other with mutual confidence, Korea showed manufacture supporting policies focusing on creation and design, but China focuses on support policies grasping markets of animation and establishing the space for production. Now, it has been about 10 years and Korean market of animation is unstable and it's difficult to release new manpower because of the insufficient space of creation. But, China secured animation market and established creation space in every region of the whole country, but there are not desirable outcomes because of the limitation of materials and characters and insufficient factors of designing and creation. If trying collaboration or joint production and sharing the market by utilizing characteristics of Korean and Chinese animation, both of two countries will obtain better outcomes.

Secondly, 6 types of space adapted from space syntax, possibly explored the embedded meaning of the structure of space and environment, will be reviewed by focusing on integration, separation and interaction. Thirdly, based on the characteristics of animation production, the element of animation job competency, 6 types of space, analytical tools about animation project education will be deducted, and the case study regarding animation studio, Walt Disney studio, will be processed by focusing on its production environment and spatial composition by focusing on Pre-production, Main-production, Post-production. Fifthly, the effective spatial composition for animation project education will be explored based on the interpretation of literature reviews and case study. In regard to this, the research addresses the spatial composition reflected the characteristics of practical learning and job competency in animation education, which differs from the previous form of standardized education spaces.

  • The term 'animation' derived from the Latin 'anima' meaning spirit, life, or vitality. Although its original meaning was somewhat related to creation of life or incorporation of vitality into an inanimate or nonexisting entity by providing mobility through artificial manipulation, it is now used in a rather narrow sense to define collectively the cartoon-based films or tape-recordings and specialists who are involved in animation production or related areas are called animators. The current worldwide market for animation production is progressing and expanding enormously. Although the domestic animation market is ranked as third in the world in terms of overall quantity, the reality is that there are few high quality products that can compete with foreign animation products in the global markets. This issue is further discussed in this paper along with the current status of the domestic animation technology and production. This investigation concerns the comparative analysis of literature data on foreign and domestic animation, which can be a basis for the production of internationally competitive animation work.

  • Life drawing is one of the most important curriculum not only in 2D animation but also in 3D animation. It was secret weapon of Disney how they made great success of Snow White and Seven Dwarfs and all the fame of Disney animation. Life Drawing which has its back ground history is major curriculum of famous animation school such as CAL Arts which Disney made and Sheridan College in Canada. But in Korea, a lot of the universities and colleges which have animation department do not really seem to understand the importance of the life drawing and it's effectiveness, thus do not emphasize it as a short cut to get close to the real work field. Now that the academical society as well as industry are very well of the fact that the animation education is directly related to the animation industry, the schools should have to teach step by step and closer to the basic fundamentals. The intentions of this study is to emphasize the importance of the Life Drawing, one of the essential fundamental course, which not only help the universities and colleges that have animation course to organize their curriculum. but also to help the students who graduate the program easily find their position in the animation industry.
