The chloroform extract of the seeds of Carica papaya has been screened for the hormonal properties using ovariectomized female rats for estrogenicity, estrogen primed immature rats for progestogenicity and castrated adult male rats for androgenicity. The results revealed that the extract lacks progestogenicity and androgenicity as evident from the failure of the extract treated animals to mimic progestogen and androgen related changes in the target tissues. The increased weight of vagina and uterus, open status of vagina, cornified and epithelial cells in the vaginal smears and hypertrophy in the uterine epithelium, endometrium and stroma with increased glycogen and sialic acid content in the uterus of the chloroform extract treated animals, which are comparable to those of the ovariectomized estrogen treated animals, suggest that the chloroform extract possesses mild estrogenic activity.

The present study is to develop the rearing method of Gryllotalpa orientalis. In total 429 of G. orientalis were collected from the field rearing cage ($25m^2$) in 2012. Its sex ratio was 1: 1.15(Female : Male). Survival rate of the mole crickets was 94.4~86.1% with the artificial diets formulated for the present study. Successful oviposition rate was 20, 20 and 80% for one, two and three pairs of adult crickets, respectively, from the indoor rearing. The mean number of hatchlings was $11.8{\pm}21.7$, $15.7{\pm}26.4$ and $25.8{\pm}38.8$, and the mean number of dead hatchlings 1.2, 1.7 and 1.2. The mortality of nymphs on horticultural soil and clay sand mixed with ocher was 18.3 and 10.0%, respectively. The mortality of nymphs in circular and rectangular cages was, respectively, 60 and 40%.

Many mediastinal masses seen radiologically are clinically asymptomatic. Only 55 to 65 percent of such lesions are asymptomatic, and of these many have only nonspecific symptoms by rupture, infection and pressure of surrounding organs. This report presents one case of a mediastinal teratoma which complicated an empyema. The patient was 7-year-old female and chief complaints were fever, left chest pain and general ache. In her past history, lung decortication and drainage procedure under the diagnosis of an empyema were carried out, 5 years ago, but she had not been improved, And so, explothoracotomy was done. At the time of operation, a mass of adult fist size was placed in the left anterior mediastinum and covered with the mediastinal pleura. Extirpation of the tumor and decortication were carried out and the left lung was remained.

Studies on the insecticides susceptibility of adults females Culex pipiens pallens were carried out in 2003. The pupae were emerged originated wild-caught larvae in Ansan city, Korea. The test methods employed, using 7 organophosphorous insecticides, four synthetic pyrethroides, and fipronil penyrazole were evaluated. The following results were obtained 1. Fipronil has showed the most strong value in $LD_{50}\;0.00075{\mu}g/female$, out of 12 kind of insecticides, and followed by deltamethrin 0.0071, $\delta-cyhalothrin\;0.008$, profenofos 0.0082 and $\beta-cyfluthrin$ 0.0088, respectively 2. The killing effect of lambdacyhalothrin and profenophos against adult females Culex pipiens pallens was examined using thermal fogging. The mortality rate were lambdacyhalothrin $41.1\%$ and profenophos $50.7\%$, respectively. The killing effect of thermal fogging was highly effectiveness to distance 6m from nozzle

Mediastinal tumor are frequently encountered in clinical practice. Hanten, in 1955, reported-2 adult patients with spontaneous rupture of mediastinal dermoid cysts into the pleural cavity and also, Thompson, in 1963, reported 2 child patients with spontaneous rupture of mediastinal teratoma into the pleural cavity. Mediastinal teratomas have also been reported rupture into other contiguous structures, such as the bronchus, aorta, pericardium, SVC and esophagus. This report presents an instance of spontaneous rupture of an anterior mediastinal teratoma into the right pleural cavity of a 43 year old female. Despite variable diagnostic procedures, the true nature of the lesion was not determined until a thoracotomy and window formation was performed for adequate drainage of empyema thoracis. Removal of the teratoma and mediastinal window formation resulted in complete cure.

The traumatic neuroma is uncommon in the mouth. Clinically, the majority of traumatic neuromas are painless, but may give rise to neuralgic pain. The traumatic neuroma is most often diagnosed in the adult of life. They are found as small nodules in the tissues and surgical excision is curative. Four cases of traumatic neuroma was found from the files of the Department of Oral Pathology at Chosun University School of Dentistry by a 20-year retrospective study. 3 cases were male and one was female. The chief complaint of the four patients was facial asymmetry, numbness, sharp pain, and masticatory difficulty, respectively. Of the our patients, 3 cases were 55, 56, and 65 years old, respectively and one was 7 years old. Our patients were treated by surgical excision. No recurrences have been found.

Between 1983 and 1993, 250 patients over 16 years of age who had undergone a surgical correction of a congenital cardiovascular disease were reviewed. 222 patients were divided into acyanotic group and 28 patients were cyanotic group. The most common defects were atrial septal defect [96 patients and ventricular septal defect [95 patients . There were 128 patients in the third decade, 71 patients under 20 years of age, 40 patients in the fourth decade and 11 patients over 40 years of age. The male to female ratio was 1.05:1. Operative mortality was 6.8% [4.1% in the acyanotic group and 26.8% in the cyanotic group and the most common cause of death was low cardiac output syndrome.

Antisynthetase syndrome has been recognized as an important cause of autoimmune inflammatory myopathy in a subset of patients with polymyositis and dermatomyositis. It is associated with serum antibody to aminoacyl-transfer RNA synthetases and is characterized by a constellation of manifestations, including fever, myositis, interstitial lung disease, mechanic's hand-like cutaneous involvement, Raynaud phenomenon, and polyarthritis. Lung disease is the presenting feature in 50% of the cases. We report a case of a 60-year-old female with acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), which later proved to be an unexpected and initial manifestation of anti-Jo-1 antibody-positive antisynthetase syndrome. The present case showed resolution of ARDS after treatment with high-dose corticosteroids. Given that steroids are not greatly beneficial in the treatment of ARDS, it is likely that the improvement of the respiratory symptoms in this patient also resulted from the prompt suppression of the inflammatory systemic response by corticosteroids.

Five black-tailed prairie dogs showed weakness. emaciation and anemia during the lairage period in May 2005. Among them, one adult male and one female prairie dogs were found dead. The stamp smear for revealed a tremendous number of Giardia trophozoites. Histopathological examinations of the intestine showed slightly inflammatory changes and cystic enlargement of the crypts in the duodenal and jejunal mucous membranes. From these findings, this disease was diagnosed as giardiasis in black-tailed prairie dog.
