Fifty cases of dermatomycoses were recorded from adult male and female at Qena Gvernorates. These included tinea capitis(62% of total cases), tinea corporis(20%), tinea versicolor(12%) and tinea unguium(6%). Males are more susceptible to all cases of tinea than females. Thirty-one species and 2 varieties belonging to 16 genera were recovered from several infection sites. These were identified as Aphanoascus fulvescens, A. terreus, Arthroderma fulva, A. obtusa, Trichophyton rubrum and T. soudanense. Several saprophytes were also found. These were : Aspergillus flavus, A. fumigatus, A. niger, A. terreus, Cochliobolus lunatus, Mycosphaerella tassiana, Penicillium chrysogenum and P. citrinum. Twenty-one isolates were able to hydrolyze gelatin with variable capabilities. T. rubrum was the most active protease producer. The maximum production of protease was obtained at 8 days of incubation at $30^{\circ}C$ in Sabouraud's basal medium with maltose as a carbon source and pepton as a nitrogen source. The optinal pH for the maximum production of protease was pH 6.
Larvae, nymphs, and adult stages of 3 species of ixodid ticks were collected by tick drag methods in Seoul during June-October 2013, and their infection status with severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome (SFTS) virus was examined using RT-PCR. During the period, 732 Haemaphysalis longicornis, 62 Haemaphysalis flava, and 2 Ixodes nipponensis specimens were collected. Among the specimens of H. longicornis, the number of female adults, male adults, nymphs, and larvae were 53, 11, 240, and 446, respectively. Ticks were grouped into 63 pools according to the collection site, species, and developmental stage, and assayed for SFTS virus. None of the pools of ticks were found to be positive for SFTS virus gene.

Here, we present a rare case of cardiac parasitic infection found in an adult female patient who had the symptoms of dyspnea upon exertion. She was diagnosed with a double-chambered right ventricle due to infundibular hypertrophy confirmed by transthoracic echocardiography and cardiac computed tomography. We performed surgery of infundibulectomy around the pulmonary valve. In the end, histopathological findings of the resected infundibular muscle demonstrated trichinellosis, a type of roundworm infection.
In order to estimate the tooth-age by degree of attrition, the author has studied 605 stone models from 1996 to 1997. All of the attrition were classified and analyzed by 8 degrees. The result were as follows : 1. The degree of attrition in male was higher than that in female for same age group and especially, canine and first premolar showed the most prominent difference in sex. 2. The most severe attrition in posterior teeth was first molar followed by second molar, first premolar and second premolar in decreasing order of sequence. 3. The coefficient of correlation and relation equations by the degree of attrition were obtained.

The effect of topical application with androstenedione on economic parameters was analyzed following treatment of last larval stadium. The treated larvae showed significantly increased larval weight along with other enhanced larval, cocoon and adult parameters. The larval period was significantly shortened in all the treated groups with increased cocooning percentages cocoon weight and its shell weight in female and filament length, weight and denier in all the treated groups. Hatching percentage increased significantly in dose dependent manner in all the treated groups when compared with the corresponding parameters of the carrier control group. This suggests that androstenedione can be used effectively for commercial silkworm rearing.
Biliary ascariasis is still the leading cause of surgical complication of ascariasis, though its incidence has been dramatically reduced. Herein, we report a case of biliary ascariasis for the purpose of enhancing awareness of parasitic infections as a possible cause. A 72-year-old male visited the emergency room of Dankook University Hospital on 12 July 2015, complaining of right-upper-quadrant pain. By endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP), a tubular filling defect in the right hepatic duct was detected. The defect was endoscopically removed and diagnosed as an adult female of Ascaris lumbricoides worm, of 30 cm length. Upon removal of the worm, the pain subsided, and the patient was discharged without any complication. When treating cases of biliary colic, physicians should not neglect biliary ascariasis as the possible cause.
The mortalities of the monkeys that have been raised in Everland Zoological Gardens within a designated period (1976-1999) were retrospectively analyzed based on the clinical charts and/or autopsy reports. During that period, a total of 161monkeys from 8 species were died. Noninfectious and traumatic factors, respiratory and digestive disorders account for the majority of cause of death. 62% of the death was concentrated in the winter season. The mortality of female and male was 53 and 47%, respectively. The mortality of adult monkey(62%) due to neoplasia and senile changes.
Congenital coronary arteriovenous fistula is uncommon disease, and was first described by Krause in 1865. About 20% of the cases, it associates additional congenital heart diseases. A 5-year-old female patient was diagnosed as coronary AV fistula with VSD, and was taken surgical correction under cardiopulmonary bypass. VSD was small and subarterial in type, and the fistula was dilated as adult thumb tip size at its distal portion. VSD was closed directly through the pulmonary arteriotomy and the aneurysmal dilation was opened vertically, then it was obliterated using 5-0, 6-0 prolene continuous suture fashioning into a long slender tube. Postoperative course was uneventful.
A surgical correction was successfully performed in a adult female who had pulmonary atresia with almost non-confluent pulmonary artery, PDA and ventricular septal defect. Initially as a first stage of corrective surgery isolation of patent ductus arteriosus, ligation of aortopulmonary collaterals and identification of the pathologic anatomy of left pulmonary artery through left posterolateral approach were performed. At the second stage, a week after the initial operation, total correction was done making both pulmonary arteries confluent with albumin coated woven-dacron graft, external valved conduit and closure of large VSD of subarterial and perimembranous type. The PDA was ligated with previously encircled heavy stitch soon after partial bypass was started. Although massive bleeding from anastomotic site of dilated left pulmonary artery to the graft occurred preoperatively, postoperative functional improvement was excellent in terms of disappearance of cyanosis and normal exercise tolerance.
Mesothelioma is a primary tumor of the pleura. There are two forms of mesotheliomas; diffuse form and localized form. The majority of localized mesotheliomas are benign, but the tumor with pedicle recur at 20% after removal of it. Malignant localized fibrous mesothelioma is differential diagnosed pathologically and clinically with diffuse mesothelioma. Symptoms of localized mesothelioma are generally related to the size of the tumor. We presented one case of malignant localized fibrous mesothelioma. The patient was 32 years old female and chief complaints were dyspnea and dry cough. Sputum cytology and needle lung biopsy were not able to diagnose definitely the tumor. Explothoracotomy was carried out for definite tissue biopsy. At the time of operation, huge adult head size mass was in the right thoracic cavity. The surface of the mass was nodular, multilobular and had hard consistency. Pedicle was formed above first rib and its diameter was 4.5cm. There was no adhesion except to RUL. Frozen biopsy suggested mesothelioma. Extirpation of the mass, right upper lobectomy. and partial pleurectomy were carried out.
