  • This paper presents the general system theory and its applications to the safety analysis method that is a recent trend over the traditional event-driven model. This new model is known as STAMP(Systems Theory Accident Modeling and Process) proposed by Nancy G. Leveson in MIT. The new model has benefits o f systemic approaches concerning the system safety as a whole including the context it is in, its stimulants and outcomes, and its parts as well as the relationships among them in a holistic manner. The method consists of a hierarchical control structure, a process model, and the safety constraints governing the control. This paper demonstrates an example that contrasts the differences between the approaches of STAMP and the traditional safety models.

  • The purpose of this paper is to find the preconditions of BIM based new design process. As BIM technology improves, investigating new design process will become a greater priority. Our traditional, linear and fragmented design process is not freed from a long-pending questions of poorly coordinated drawings and low production efficiencies. Rather the traditional process is one of the major causes of such issues of low productivity. AIA and NIST proposed new design process to fulfill clients' need for fast and precise delivery recently. The common goal of these two should be better, faster and more precise project delivery created by integration. And we need to create collaborative concurrent design process to optimize the design efforts, But our local AE industry's circumstances are quite different with foreign countries. Therefore, integrated project system cannot be adopted as it stands in foreign countries. This paper will investigate preconditions to expedite the progress of BIM based design process in Korea.

  • This paper deals with the fault detection problem in uncertain linear/non-linear systems having both undermodelling and noise. A robust fault detection method is presented which accounts for the effects of noise, model mismatch and nonlinearities. The basic idea is to embed the unmodelled dynamics in a stochastic process and to use the nominal model with a predetermined fixed denominator. This allows the input /output relationship to be represented as a linear function of the system parameters and also facilitate the quatification of the effect of noise, model mismatch and linearization errors on parameter estimation by the Bayesian method. Comparisons are made via simulations with traditional fault detection methods which do not account for model mismatch or linearization errors. The new method suggested in this paper is shown to have a marked improvement over traditional methods on a number of simulations, which is a consequence of the fact that the new method explicitly for the effects of undermodelling and linearization errors.

  • This paper analyses connecting space of the 'ㅁ' shaped houses from Chosun Dynasty, Korea. Houses are reflected by various factors such as shapes, locations and territoriality by the social class system. Because of their spatial arrangements, 'ㅁ' shaped houses might have various planning approaches. This paper looks at Sarang-chae and An-chae, which are the common elements of the houses, and analyses their architectural characteristics in spatial arrangements and territoriality. The territoriality was formed by the combination of Chae and Madang. The spatial arrangement was formed by the social norms of its time. Hengrang-chae and Dam-jang, which were located in-between Chae and Madang, limit territoriality by providing privacy and interrupting the circulation.

  • The Yoon Jeung residence is a well-known and prototypical aristocratic house example showing typical and interesting characteristics of the traditional houses in the middle region of Korea. When it comes to understanding the architectonic characteristics of a Korean traditional house, it was not easy to actually capture the compositional and/or constructional knowledge of the building even though it is a wooden building with many wooden members showing their compositional relations. Now with the help of the BIM tool, the Building Information Modeling tool, we could actually be able to compare and analyze each member and their compositional relations. In this paper we examine the unique traditional composition method used in extending the building's structural sections utilizing the bended-joint characteristics of traditional buildings with exemplar case of the Yoon Jeung residence. Thereby we examine those relationships among three major compositional parts namely the plan based spatial compositions, the upper wooden compositions and the roof forms so as to specify the building's typical characteristics with reasonably acceptable causes. The inner and outer block of the residence are handled with their bended-joints with more detailed knowledge of categorization by way of joint relationships among members.

  • This study is for the development of fashion cultural products that simultaneously evolved with the contemporary use of traditional temple culture in addition, it analyzed the cultural products available in the Korean market. Methodology, this study conducted a literature review and empirical research. We targeted the cultural products carried at twelve web-based shopping malls for Buddhist cultural products and six souvenir shops in Korean Buddhist temples to collect data on those products in order to analyze the items, design motives, materials, and price ranges. The study results showed that interior items represented the largest portion of the targeted goods, followed by accessories/sundries, clothing/fashion items, stationery, and tableware. The most commonly used design motive was lotuses, followed by the images of Buddha or Buddhist Goddesses and Dharma. The most common materials include fibers, jewelry (such as gold and silver), wood, metals, ceramics, paper, and plastic. The most active price range was between KRW10,000 and KRW50,000, followed by less than KRW10,000 and KRW100,000 to less than KRW500,000. This study discovered the potential for traditional temple culture to advance it further in a contemporary manner and indicated the need to develop a wide variety of cultural products and emphasize its global acceptance.
