e-Paper 기술 동향 및 전망

  • 최근 e-book이나 e-newspaper가 새로운 기록 매체로서 많은 주목을 받고 있으며 기존의 책이나 신문을 대체할 가능성도 게시되고 있다. 이러한 e-book 등은 새로운 휴대 정보통신기기로서도 새로운 시장을 창출할 것으로 기대되고 있다. e-book이나 e-newspaper에 사용되는 디스플레이는 기존의 TFT-LCD, AMOLED와는 다소 다르게 오랜 시간동안 내용을 읽더라도 눈의 피로도를 현저히 줄어야하기 때문에 e-paper라는 새로운 디스플레이가 제시되고 있다. 본 tutorial에서는 e-paper의 개념과 종류, 동작 원리, 응용 분야 등을 살펴보고 새롭게 개발되고 있는 e-paper 기술과 응용 제품들을 소개할 것이다. 또한 e-paper와 기존의 TFT-LCD, AMOLED와 비교 분석하여 e-paper의 한계와 가능성에 대해서도 토의할 것이다.

전통한지의 제조 기술 및 우수성에 관한 논고(論考) (A study on manufacturing technologies and excellence of Korean traditional paper)

  • 한지는 우리의 옛 선조들의 뛰어난 기술과 장인정신으로 오늘날에도 그 가치와 기술을 높게 평가받고 있는 귀중한 문화유산으로 이는 그 시대의 장인정신과 축적된 기술, 한지제조에 적합한 천혜의 자연조건인 닥섬유와 물과 햇빛과 더불어 환경친화적이고 보존성이 우수한 천연자숙제 및 점질물 등이 잘 어우러진 산물이라고 할 수 있다. 한지는 닥나무 껍질(저피(楮皮))을 가공하여 손으로 만든 종이를 일컫는 것으로 조선 말엽 일본을 통하여 서양식 기계로 제조한 종이가 생산되면서 그간의 종이는 한지라 하고 서양의 종이를 양지라 구분하여 부른다. 한지는 재료 및 초지방법에 따라 다양하게 불리고 사용되어져 왔으며, 그 기능 또한 다양하게 활용되어져 왔다. 또한 한지는 과거 삼국시대부터 조선 시대에 이르기까지 동양 3국(한국, 중국, 일본) 중에서 독특하고 우수한 품질로 각광을 받아왔고, 오늘날 한지 특유의 우수한 보존성으로 수많은 국가지정 지류문화재들이 지금까지 잘 전승되고 있다. 아울러 세계적으로 그 가치를 인정한 UNESCO 세계기록유산에 한국은 모두 11건이 등재되었는데 그 중 전통한지로 구성되어 있는 기록물은 8건으로 "훈민정음, 조선왕조실록, 직지심체요절, 승정원일기, 조선왕조의궤, 동의보감, 일성록, 난중일기" 등이 이에 해당된다. 이러한 한지의 우수한 보존과학적 특징을 규명하기 위하여 다양한 연구 사업들이 진행되어져 왔다. 한지에 대한 분석기술과 제조기술개발, 복원기술연구 등을 통하여 우리 전통한지에 대한 우수성을 과학적으로 재입증하고 우리나라를 대표하는 전통문화유산의 하나로써 그 명맥을 유지해 나가야할 것이다.

환경을 고려한 선진국의 지.판지 포장재 적용 추세 (Application of Paper and Paperboard Packaging for the Environmental Issues in U.S.A and E.U)

  • The portion of the recycled paper and paper board packaging material has been the highest in recycled municipal solid waste since 1960 but still the portion of the discarded paper and paper board packaging material is the highest (32.3%) in whole discarded municipal solid waste in USA. In order to reduce more the discarded paper and paper board, the common municipal solid waste treatments were compared and recycling treatment was still recommended for the the discarded paper and paper board rather than of the waste treatments, landfill, incineration, and source reduction. In this paper, the obstacled of recycling treatment of the paper and paper board in municipal solid waste and new application of recycled paper and paper board packaging material are discussed.

인쇄 기술을 이용한 친환경 종이 혈당 센서 스트립 개발 (Development of Eco-friendly Paper Glucose Sensor Using Printing Technology)

  • In this paper, we developed an electrochemical glucose sensor strip using a paper substrate. The paper glucose sensor strip is eco-friendly because it uses paper as a substrate, and it has the advantage that it can be manufactured only with four printing, drying and cutting processes. The paper glucose sensor is significantly simplified by the production process than the conventional glucose sensors because the production of only four printing on the paper substrate. In this paper, eco-friendly tracing paper was used to develop a paper glucose sensor strip, and screen-printing technology was used to form a carbon/silver electrode, insulating layer and glucose oxidase(GOD) layer. The developed paper glucose sensor strip has a flat structure with a size of 30 × 4.6 ㎟, and blood injection is a type of direct contact with the exposed enzyme layer above the strip. In this paper, the performance of paper glucose sensor strips was evaluated by analyzing the cyclic voltammetry(CV) and chronoamperometry(CA) characteristics.

국산 신문 용지에서 산화전분에 의한 표면 사이징 처리가 인쇄적성에 미치는 영향 (The Surface Sizing Effect of Oxidized Starch on the Printability of Newspaper)

  • This research was carried out to investigated the effect of base paper and latex binder on printability and obtical properties of coated paper. Especially, it examined the effect of th pH of vase paper surface and functional groups of latices on the interactions between coating color components and on the structure of coated layer. It was found that the behavior of coating color containing amphoeric latex depends on the pH in the boundary region between coating color and base paper. Thus, the coating color formulated with amphoteric latex formed bulky coating layer by inducing stronger interaction between paper surface and coating components than the coating color with anionic latex. The coated paper with amphoteric latex showed better optical properties (i.e.gloss and optical) and printability (i.e. ink receptivity, wet ink receptivity, and ink set off) than the conventional anionic latex in the acidic and alkaline paper. However, dry pick strength of the coated paper was less decreased. This result indicated that amphoteric latex could also be applied practically to the alkaline paper.

도공지 흡수성 조절에 따른 인쇄 모틀 개선에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Prevention of Print Mottle by Means of the Liquid Absorptivity Controlling in Coated Paper)

  • Development of the paper coating technologies to prevent print mottle is needed to obtain high quality printing. Printing mottle is recognized as the most common printing problems in using coated paper and which is one of the most difficult problems to solve in offset printing. Print mottle is one of the most important quality properties of printed products and manufacturers strive to improve the paper surface to gain higher and more even print mottle. The prevention of printed mottle requires of coating color formation, especially the minimum of binder migration. The results the uniformity of liquid absorption by paper at very short contact time between paper and testing printing liquids.

닥 섬유 수제지 의상 디자인에 관한 연구 -임베딩과 페이퍼 캐스팅 기법을 중심으로- (Mulberry Handmade Paper Fashion Design with Embedding and Paper Casting Technique)

  • Culture industry is appearing as an important sector of economy. Many kinds of culture industry like movie, music, drama, animation and game are creating enormous wealth all over the world. Fashion is a kind of culture industry too and even sometimes treated as art. Korean fashion is not treated as real culture but still as a part of textile industry. Internationally Korean fashion has not yet much to show, and despite of it's potential it does not attract much interest from other countries. In this paper properties and effects of mulberry handmade paper clothes were investigated with five clothes made of it. In making handmade mulberry paper clothes various techniques could be applied and these techniques could bring new effects. Because mulberry handmade paper does not have little flexibility than ordinary texture, much efforts should be put to the detail works. Handmade mulberry paper clothes have enormous potential as art, because various approach could be applied.

효소처리한 도공지의 물성 관한 연구 (The Study of the Properties Coated Paper by the Enzyme Treatment)

  • We studied on the effects of the enzyme treatment of pulp fiber on physical properties of coated paper were elucidated using four types of enzymes. The results of this study showed that the blank in which enzyme was not treated showed the highest $St{\ddot{o}}ckigt$ and Hurcules sizing degrees. And when the enzyme treated base paper was used for coating, the coated paper has average 5.7 % higher gloss and whiteness than when untreated base paper was used. Brightness showed 0.12 % higher results with the enzyme treated base papers than the blank while it is considered to show similar trends. Whiteness of coated paper was not influenced by the enzyme treatments but by the properties of coating color. Coated paper whose base paper was enzyme treated showed improved roughness while smoothness of those samples except the ${\beta}$-Glucosidase treated one was relatively low due to the high fines content. Also the coated paper whose base paper was not enzyme treated showed high porosity.

종이 기록물 보수용 안전 테이프 시제품 제조 기술 연구 (Manufacture Technology Development of Paper Mending Tape for Conservation of Archive Document)

  • For manufacturing the tape for repairing archival documents, we tested ten carrier candidates for selecting best material. The tensile strength, transmissivity, stability of deterioration, and processability were determined. Physical-chemical characteristics and stability of deterioration was best to the Hanji. Tensile strength and transmissivity was best in tracing paper, but was low in oil paper, white sketch paper, lyon coat paper. Synthetic carrier to tensile strength showed higher than paper carrier and to the transmissivity showed 2-8 times higher than paper carriers. The tracing paper to the transmissivity was 10 times higher than others. To determine characteristic of conservation to the selected carriers, stability of deterioration was examined at conditions of $90^{\circ}C$ for 15 days. Oil paper and white sketch paper turned strongly yellowish. Cellulopane, Felt, and Cpp film showed stable stability of deterioration, but deformation like wrinkles. PET film and Syntheletic film showed excellent conservation characteristics without any change of exterior. Test of adhesive uniform between carriers and adhesive processability was performed. PET film > Syntheletic film > Tracing Paper in order were determined. Ununiformal adhesive characteristics appeared to Hangi. Accordingly, we thought that Hanji as carrier material might be unsuitable because of low adhesive processability.

楮皮를 포함하는 絹紙의 特性 (Properties of the Handsheet Paper made from Silk Fibers and Paper Mulberry)

  • The silk/paper mulberry paper was prepared by recycling of the hard twisted silk waste and its mechanical properties was investigated. The silk waste was pretreated with sodium hydroxide(0.5%) and sodium carbonate(4%) to make it easy for beating and fibrillation. The silk/paper mulberry hand sheet paper has better mechanical properties of tearing strength and air permeability compared with the traditional and modified traditional paper. Treating with alkaline solution, the hard twisted silk waste could be used for an novel composite material.
