  • The shorting resistance (SR) of the PEMFC(Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cell) polymer membrane is an important indicator of the durability of the membrane. When SR decreases, shorting current (SC) increases, reducing durability and performance. When SR becomes less than about 0.1 kΩ·㎠, shorting occurs, the temperature rises rapidly, and MEA(Membrane Electrode Assembly) is burned to end stack operation. In order to prevent shorting, we need to control the SR, so the conditions affecting the SR were studied. There were differences in the SR measurement methods, and the SR measurement method, which improved the DOE(Department of Energy) and NEDO(New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization) method, was presented. It was confirmed that the SR decreases as the relative humidity, temperature and cell compression pressure increase. In the final stage of the accelerated durability evaluation process of the polymer membrane, SR rapidly decreased to less than 0.1 kΩ·㎠, and the hydrogen permeability became higher than 15 mA/㎠. After dismantling the MEA, SEM(Scanning Electron Microscope) analysis showed that a lot of platinum was distributed inside the membrane.

  • The present study aims to optimise the process parameters of fish glue and adhesion property through room temperature in terms of curing time and opened assembly time for attaining best adhesion strength to wood (Yellow birch, B. alleghaniensis). The uncured and cured fish glue have been characterised by TGA, DSC, FT-JR. It is observed that with increasing curing time up to 48 H, tensile lap shear strength of adhesive joint of fish glue to wood increases and decreases after 48 H. At 15 min. opened assembly time, lap shear strength increases up to 4833 kgf/cm2 and decreases after 15 min.

  • The unitized regenerative fuel cell (URFC) is a method that can reduce costs and increase system simplification by unitizing a fuel cell system and a water electrolysis system. The spray method is suitable as the membrane electrode assembly (MEA) manufacturing method for URFC because it is easy to control the amount of catalyst, the size of the system is small, and economical manufacturing is possible. In this study, a numerical analysis of the effect of solution concentration on the spray method was performed to use it as basic data for the spray method to be used in MEA manufacturing. As result, as the Nafion solution concentration decreases it was found that the spray speed and the mass flow rate and the discrete phase model concentration increases and the spray range widens.

  • The goal of this study was to examine ways to improve the quality of databases of the Korean National Assembly Digital Library(KNADL). In order to achieve the goal, we first designed an assessment tool that could measure the quality of the 'contents,' the 'service,' and the 'system' of the KNADL's databases. Each of the three categories also had sub-categories-i.e., eight sub-categories for 'contents'(e.g., accuracy, recency, ${\cdots}$), seven sub-categories for 'service'(e.g., convenience for request, rapid response, ${\cdots}$), and seven sub-categories for 'system'(e.g., usability, response time, ${\cdots}$). We thenconducted a survey using the assessment tool we developed and gathered a total of 270 responses from users of KNADL's databases. We used Excel and PASW Statistics 18 for data analysis. Each sub-category was measured by its importance and by the level of satisfaction(implemented from the DigiQUAL project). Finally, we performed an importance-satisfaction analysis(ISA) to identify what action(i.e., maintain, concentrate, low priority, and exceed) needs to be made in each sub-category. We concluded the paper with some useful suggestions for improving the quality of KNADL's databases.

  • A new method is proposed for optimal management of the fabrication and assembly tolerance of optical systems. The practical utility of the method is shown by applying it to a wide-angle anamorphic IR optical system. In this method the wavefront error of an optical system is expressed in terms of Zernike polynomials, and the sensitivity of the expansion coefficients to the variation of design parameters is analyzed. Based on this sensitivity analysis, the optimal tolerances of the fabrication parameters are determined and the best compensators for the assembly process are selected. By using this method, one can accurately predict with good confidence the best possible performance of a completed optical system in practice.

  • Recently Ministry of National Defense is reconstructing old facilities using modular construction method for enhancing soldiers' quality of living. In the future, the use of modular construction method is expected to be increased. But in beginning stage as ROK military facilities that was built by modular was not designed and constructed efficiently, problems for pilot projects need to be analyzed by phases and construction methods should be improved. For the maximized efficiency, design should be made to minimize on-site works, factory automation in an assembly plant should be installed for the better productivity, roads that will be used for transportation should be checked, and joint and connection methods between modules in on-site assembly should be improved for a better quality.

  • Neurofilaments (NFs) are neuronal intermediate filaments composed of light (NF-L), middle (NF-M), and heavy (NF-H) subunits. NF-L self-assembles into a "core" filament with which NF-M or NF-H co-assembles to form the neuronal intermediate filament. Recent reports show that point mutations of the NF-L gene result in Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease (CMT). However, the most recently described rod domain mutant of human NF-L (A148V) has not been characterized in cellular level. We cloned human NF-L and used it to engineer the A148V. In phenotypic analysis using SW13 cells, A148V mutation completely abolished filament formation despite of presence of NF-M. Moreover, A148V mutation reduced the levels of in vitro self-assembly using GST-NF-L (H/R) fusion protein whereas control (A296T) mutant did not affect the filament formation. These results suggest that alanine at position 148 is essentially required for NF-L self-assembly leading to subsequent filament formation in neuronal cells.

  • High bum-up fuel technology has been developed through a national R&D program, which covers key technology areas such as claddings, $UO_2$ pellets, spacer grids, performance code, and fuel assembly tests. New cladding alloys were developed through alloy designs, tube fabrication, out-of-pile test and in-reactor test. The new Zr-Nb tubes are found to be much better in their corrosion resistance and creep strength than the Zircaloy-4 tube, owing to an optimized composition and heat treatment of the new Zr-Nb alloys. A new fabrication technology for large grain $UO_2$ pellets was developed using various uranium oxide seeds and a micro-doping of Al. The uranium oxide seeds, which were added to $UO_2$ powder, were prepared by oxidizing and heat-treating scrap $UO_2$ pellets. A $UO_2$ pellet containing tungsten channels was fabricated for a thermal conductivity enhancement. For the fuel performance analysis, new high burnup models were developed and implemented in a code. This code was verified by an international database and our own database. The developed spacer grid has two features of contoured contact spring and hybrid mixing vanes. Mechanical and hydraulic tests showed that the spacer grid is superior in its rodsupporting, wear resistance and CHF performance. Finally, fuel assembly test technology was also developed. Facilities for mechanical and thermal hydraulic tests were constructed and are now in operation. Several achievements are to be utilized soon by the Korea Nuclear Fuel and thereby contribute to the economy and safety of PWR fuel in Korea

  • With the escalating prevalence of modular construction projects, there is a concurrent surge in scholarly and industrial intrigue in this domain, leading to a broadened spectrum of its applications. Modular construction, inherently facilitated by controlled factory settings, boasts the capability to consistently deliver edifices of superior quality. To optimize this advantage, the judicious integration of quality assurance methodologies during the site-specific phases of lifting and assembly is non-negotiable. This research embarked on a survey directed at project stakeholders, aiming to gauge the perceived significance and efficaciousness of prevailing quality preservation and oversight protocols during the aforementioned site stages, subsequently employing the Importance-Performance Analysis(IPA) for data interpretation. The findings elucidated that, while a majority of quality assurance procedures were adeptly executed, perceptual disparities existed among stakeholders regarding certain aspects, prompting recommendations for enhancement. This investigative endeavor lays a foundation, aiding future studies in amplifying the quality assurance cognizance among professionals during modular construction's site-assembly phase.

  • In the face of the prolonged Covid-19, this study conducted a network analysis to propose the policy direction for the Korean National Assembly to go forward. Using COVID-19 news articles, various types of networks were created and analyzed for the parliamentary activities of the Korean National Assembly related to Covid-19. Specifically, we utilize the co-occurrence and keyword information to generate two types of parliamentary networks: co-occurrence-based network and content-based network. In addition, a topic keyword-driven parliamentary network was constructed by using topic modeling. The results of the study are as follows. First, lawmakers in the ruling party had a wide range of topics regarding Covid-19, while lawmakers from other political parties had a limited number of issues covered. Next, a few representative legislators were identified as influential actors in most of the centrality indicators. Based on the research results, cooperation on diverse agendas related to Covid-19 should be promoted between lawmakers from various political parties. And representative legislators from both major parties should play a crucial role as intermediaries to increase communication between them.
