  • This research exposes the process of carbonization of solid waste from the city and the method of activated, as well as the process of meso-porous under several test conditions. In addition, it is expected that the active carbon obtained through this process can be used as filter for air and sewage treatment, and can absorb dioxin(as almost 60-80% of meso-porous and porous properties area) unlike the existing active carbon.

  • In large-scale industry such as shipbuilding, aircraft manufacturing, and construction industry etc., it is required to consider two or three-dimensional spatial availability as one of bottlenecked resource constraints. We call this kind of scheduling a spatial scheduling, which considers the dynamic spatial layouts of objects as well as the traditional resource constraints. Since 1991, we have researched on the spatial scheduling for shipbuilding plant (Lee & Lee, 1992; Lee et al., 1994, Lee et al., 1995). In this paper, we present the various issues of spatial scheduling for the researchers and developers attacking spatial scheduling problems.

  • Asia has the potential of becoming a center of power in fashion. Japan has worked hard to build images of beauty and serenity. The Chinese people already have enriched their business sense throughout history. China is considered as the next powerhouse of fashion. The Asian "mosaic" including Korea should be very colorful, deep, spiritual and beautiful. It is essential we upgrade and update the training and education of fashion leaders. It is possible to find a niche in a global market through maximizing our strength based upon a great and long history in manufacturing textiles.

  • Due to their unique combination of properties, Si-based ceramics, such as silicon carbide (SiC), silicon nitride ($Si_3N_4$) and silicon oxide ($SiO_2$ as fused silica), have a range of industrial applications in fields such as the chemical industry, aluminum manufacturing, oil and gas production and solar cell production. For each materials group, examples of typical applications from various industry sectors are presented while taking into account the property fingerprint.

  • Nowadays, economic growth of China has become an important issue. Due to the demographic position and the market size, China-Korea trade relationship has grown tremendously and significantly. The Chinese relationship with the Korean industry has considerably increased over the years. Various trade competitiveness indices such as TSI, MRCAI, and IITI have been applied to measure the competitive advantage and the complementary of market structure between these two countries. For this purpose, the dataset from the year 2000 to 2008 provided by KITA were used. The MRCAI result show that Korea has specialized in the product of semiconductor, communication equipment, precision machine, automobile, and nonferrous metal. The intra-industry trade level of Korean manufacturing industry is rising in line with the dominance of vertical intra-industry trade(VIIT) trend.

  • The clothing industry is going through very rapid and innovative automation in almost all processes from the initial design of clothing to the dispatch of the products to the retailer. Educational bodies in teaching clothing and textile techniques should offer courses that enable students to grasp the concepts and potential of automation so that they can confidently cope with further development when they enter the real world of the clothing and textile industry. The article suggests how and what to teach about automation and, gives an overview of the current state of automation in the field of clothing and textiles. • By using LED optical devices and improving the efficiency of optical devices as well as lighting apparatus for humans, LED lighting industry puts the purpose of manufacturing the main products related with information, electric, large-sized LCD BLU, automobile, shipbuilding, agriculture, medical treatment, environment, and telecommunications, etc. Moreover, the main products and the industrial lighting products are manufactured with fusion, as the result, LED lighting industry provides various effects as well as sources of technology based on practical use of LED technology in order to develop the industry from the perspective of the lower price, the higher efficiency, the higher function, the deeper reliance. In the future, not only the development of new LED technology but also the fusion and combination of digital IT technologies using wire-wireless communication, sensor, controller, and artificial intelligence will be expected to create new industrial fields.

  • In these days global energy policy is changed from "supply" to "demand". In this regards, there are needs to analysis on effect of policy such as energy efficiency strategy, electricity rates. This study examines the relationship between energy consumption reduced by new energy policy and GDP growth for each industrial sector for Korea from 1970 to 2013. With respect to the direction of causality, energy use of 1th industry like agriculture and mining leads to GDP growth. On the other hand, GDP growth of 2nd industry, manufacturing, leads to energy use. And there is bidirectional causality in 3rd industry, service sector. These findings imply that the government policies aimed at reducing electricity consumptions and increasing energy efficiency should be progressed cautiously depend on status of each industry condition.

  • Modeling and control of human-involved manufacturing systems poses a huge challenge on how to model all possible interactions among system components within the time and space dimensions. As the manufacturing environment are getting complicated, the importance of human in the manufacturing system is getting more and more spotlighted to incorporate the manufacturing flexibility. This paper presents a formal modeling methodology of affordance-based MPSG (Message-based Part State Graph) for a human-machine collaboration system incorporating supervisory control scheme for flexible manufacturing systems in automotive industry. Basically, we intend to extend the existing model of affordance-based MPSG to the real industrial application of humanmachine cooperative environments. The suggested extension with the real industrial example is illustrated in three steps; first, the manufacturing process and relevant data are analyzed in perspectives of MABA-MABA and the supervisory control; second, the manufacturing processes and task allocation between human and machine are mapped onto the concept of MABA-MABA; and the last, the affordance-based MPSG of humanmachine collaboration for the manufacturing process is presented with UMLs for verification.

  • Recently in the display industry, demands for high-luminance and resolution of display devices have been steadily increasing. Generally, micro linear patterns are applied to an optical film in order to improve its properties of light. However, these patterns are easily viewed to eyes and moire phenomenon can be occurred. Micro random patterns are proposed as a method to solve these problems, increasing light-luminance and light-diffusion. However, conventional pattern manufacturing technologies have long processing times and high costs making it difficult to apply to large area molds. In order to combat this issue, micro-random patterns are formed by using a roll to plate indentation method along with abrasive paper tools composed of AlSiO2, SiC, and diamond grains. Also, forming properties, such as size and fill-factor of random patterns, are analyzed depending on type, mesh of abrasive paper tools, and indentation forces.
