도서관장서의 폐기기준에 관한 고찰 (A Study on Welding Criteria of Library Collections)

  • Today, one of the major pressures that libraries have been facing is the rapid growth of publications. Due to the rapid growth of publications, libraries have been faced the shortage of stack as well as quality deterioration of library collections. Naturally, these disa n.0, ppointed the users and made the present library activities weak and inadequate. One of the desirable actions in remedying these problems is to weed library collections properly and regularly. Weeding methods used in libraries are derived from the judgement by subject specialists, from the examining the imprint date and the past use patterns of a volume. Among these methods, the past use patterns are highly predictive of the future use, and can be used to create meaningful weeding criteria. Since the libraries in Korea have emphasized on numbers of library collection in the past, the libraries have neglected weeding library collections. Now, we must turn our concern toward the weeding library collections, and the attitude of the library services to the users must change from passive to active.

국가 통합 도서관 협력 체제 모델 개발에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Development of Nation-wide Library Cooperative System Model)

  • 본 연구는 우리나라 통합 도서관 협력체제 구축을 위한 모델 개발을 목적으로 하였다. 현재 국내도서관 협력체제의 현황은, 국립중앙 도서관을 중앙관으로 한 공공도서관 협력망을 비롯하여 지역별 관종별 협력체제가 구축되어 도서관 기능의 활성화를 도모하고 있으나 기능적으로 보다 효율적인 협력이 필요한 시점에 있다. 이러한 관점에서 다양한 형태의 국내도서관 협력체제를 정비하여 새로운 통합 도서관 협력체제를 구축하기 위한 모델을 제시하였다.

  • 본 논문에서는 이용자중심의 정보서비스를 제공하는 도서관경영과 사서와 이용자간의 관계를 통해 고객 만족도를 높이는 정보서비스 방안을 제시하기 위하여 CRM을 수행하였다. 또한 도서관 고객의 요구사항의 특성과 일반적인 CRM 시스템의 설계를 고찰하고, 도서관에서의 CRM 시스템에 대한 개념적 모델링 설계와 데이터사전, 이벤트 클레스를 작성하여 도서관 CRM 구축 방안을 제시하였다.

도서관기획에 있어서 목표실현에 관한 일 고찰 (A Study on the Library Planning to Objectives)

  • The library as nonprofit organization is required to have micro-planning for the organization itself and macro-planning for the relationship of the organization and its environment. Both the micro and macro planning are rational and effective means to library objectives. The library planning must be based on clearly formulated objectives that will encourage all parts of the organization to work toward the same goal and mission. The planning to library objectives should make programming. which should make processing. The mission here should precede goal. which should precede objectives and objectives should precede activities in planning. There is an integral relationship among them. Just as the objectives of the library may be thought of in a hierarchy such as the above. so the library planning must be based on such a hierarchy from strategic or long range planning to administrative planning, from administrative planning to operational planning or short range ones.

Five Laws and Libraries in Korea: Are We in the Right Direction?

  • This paper discusses the current situation of public libraries in Korea, from the viewpoint of Ranganathan's 'Five Laws of Library Science'. Public libraries have very rapidly grown in Korea in the past ten years. With an average growth rate of 5.8% per year, the number of public libraries reached to 703 in 2009, and the number of people served per library have gradually reduced every year, even if still far below other advanced countries. However, there are still some attempts to retrain people of their right to read whatever they want. In this paper, it is emphasized that in public libraries more attention and financial and strategic assistance should be given to the disadvantaged people, and the equal right to benefit from library services should be ensured. And the library as a growing organism should be balanced with the responsible library director, devoted librarians, and concerned people in the community.

유비쿼터스 시대 도서관 공간에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Library Space in the Emerging Ubiquitous Environment)

  • 유비쿼터스 정보 환경의 도래와 함께 전통적으로 도서관 건물을 중심으로 이루어지던 도서관 서비스 공간도 변화하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 유비쿼터스 정보 환경에서 도서관 공간의 의의와 범위 및 특징을 문헌연구와 국내외 사례 연구, 그리고 학부생을 대상으로 한 포커스그룹인터뷰 등을 통하여 조사하였다. 연구 결과 도서관이 제공하는 물리적 장소는 이용자에게 여전히 중요한 공간임을 확인하고, 유비쿼터스 공간의 개방성과 상호 작용성을 고려한 정보 공간 운영의 필요성을 제안하였다.

  • 이 글의 목적은 한국의 학교도서관정책이 안고 있는 문제의 본질을 밝혀내고 그 원인을 규명하여, 문제의 실효적인 해결을 위한 대안을 제시하는데 있다. 이 글은 특히 교육부가 추진해온 학교도서관 인력정책의 부작용과 폐해에 주목하면서, 인력정책이 파행적으로 추진되어온 배경과 원인을 토착적인 시각에서 밝혀내고, 인력정책의 건강성을 회복시키기 위한 실사구시적인 처방을 강구하는데 논점을 두고 있다. 이를 위해, 이 글은 '학교도서관의 본질적 기능'과 '전담인력의 자격과 역량'에 관한 기존의 주장과 논리에 비판적으로 접근하고 있으며, 인력문제의 합리적인 해결을 위해 한국 고유의 교육문화와 도서관문화 그리고 인력구조를 반영한 전략과 방안을 제시하고 있다.

LCSI(Library Customer Satisfaction Index) Lite 공공도서관용의 개발 (Developing LCSI(Library Customer Satisfaction Index) Lite for Public Library)

  • 이 연구는 도서관의 서비스품질과 고객만족도에 대한 연구성과를 바탕으로 현장에서 용이하게 활용할 수 있는 간략모델을 개발하기 위한 첫 번째 작업으로, 공공도서관 고객만족도지수 간략판인 LCSI(Library Customer Satisfaction Index) Lite를 개발하여 제시하였다. 20명의 전문가에 대한 설문과 800명 이상의 공공도서관 이용자를 대상으로 한 설문조사결과를 분석하여, 도서관서비스품질을 측정하기 위한 8항목(직원차원 2항목, 자원 및 서비스 차원 4항목, 시설 및 환경 2항목), 도서관고객만족도를 측정하기 위한 3항목, 도서관고객충성도를 측정하기 위한 2항목 등 총 15개 설문항목을 제시하고, 도서관서비스품질 차원 50%, 도서관고객만족도 차원 40%, 도서관고객충성도 차원 10%의 가중치를 부여한 값으로 이를 산정할 수 있도록 하였다. 각 척도들에 대해 전문가와 실무자를 대상으로 한 델파이식 조사법을 활용하여 계층적 분석 방식(AHP: analytic hierarchy process)의 설문지를 사용하여 각 차원별 중요도에 대한 가중치 및 각 차원별 핵심구성요소의 상대적 가중치를 산출해내고, 이용자에 대한 설문조사를 통해 입수한 통계데이터를 분석하여 LCSI의 구조방정식 모형을 검증하였다.

도서관경영에 있어서 의사결정시스템에 관한 연구 (A study on decision making system in library management with an analysis on the case study of university library in Seoul)

  • This dissertation are studying the conceptual structure of decision making situation in libraries, by analyzing the library function, decision makings of library and then seeking economic and efficient alternative decision making by programming the· decision making situations, and finally, introducing how to apply management information system or decision making support system. For this purpose, in order to analyzing necessary factors for the decision making system, the questionnaire used Lickert method were distributed to 400 librarians of 36 universities in Seoul by means of mail. 193 librarians, $48\%$ of the questionnaire, are returned are studied by using 'SYSTAT' statistical software to figure out the factors of the decision making system. This dissertation was put six hypotheses and tested with the returned questionnaire. The following five result can be asserted. First, to the higher degree of the librarians' participation in the important library decision makings, the quality of formal library services are improved regardless of seniority of the work. Secondly, the t-test results show that all of t-test scores of seniority of the work, educational background, and responsibilities of the work are exceeding significant level and perception of decision making was proved to be different depending on seniority of the work, educational background, and responsibilities of the work in libraries. Thirdly, as the results of factor af factor analysis, the encouragement on participation in the library academic activities, the extent to get useful information about performances of library and the improvements of library works were grouped by similar posibilities of distribution and therfore the academic activities, the collection of information and the improvement of library performances is proved to be interrelational each other. Fourthly, the fifth hypothesis of the close relationship between the decision making situation and types of advisor by it was more or less interrelational, but their relationship was not seen some significancies. Lastly, as the dynamic organization of library management forming a special commitee or a project team with librarian can improve the extent and quality of the librarian's participation in the decision making of library works, and thus library will become to performance more rational and effective library management.

대학도서관 직원규모에 영향을 미치는 요인에 관한 연구 (A study on factors affecting staff size of university libraries in Korea)

  • This study is to analyze correlations between 14 factors related to university libraries and the number of professional staff, nonprofessional staff, and total library staff. The results of this study are summarized as follows: 1. In the case of 1992, there are high positive correlations between the number of library staff and 10 of 14 variables : the number of undergraduate enrollments, graduate enrollments, departments, faculty members, school employees and volumes in library, size of library building, total university expenditure and library materials expenditure (coefficient: 0.70-0.99). However, there are little significant correlations between the number of library staff and 2 variables : library open hours and university expenditure per student. Among the above factors, the correlations of the total university expenditure and the library expenditure show a significant difference more than ones of the other factors. 2. In the case of the analysis by 3 years interval in 1984-1992, there are high positive correlations between the number of total library employees and 7 of the above 9 variables, excepted to library open hours and 4 factors related to expenditure (coefficient : 0.73-0.93 in 1984;0.77-0.88 in 1988;0.70-0-92 in 1992). But there are little significant differences among the correlation coefficients by each year. 3. In the results of the correlation analysis between the professional staff and the nonprofessional staff, the number of graduate enrollments, departments, volumes in library and school employees, library expenditure and total university expenditure show higher positive correlation to the professional staff than the nonprofessional staff. However, the number of undergraduate enrollments, faculty members, volumes added in library and volumes loaned, size of library building and library materials expenditure show little significant differences in the correlation coefficients between the professional staff and the nonprofessionalstaff.
