Software Development for Compact Korean Input System (단축 한글 입력 시스템 소프트웨어 개발)

  • Recently, many electronic system with various character input systems for information representation and delivery. Character input systems for the Korean language are keyboards and mobile phone that have 12 or more input buttons and so on. But these input systems give difficulties for the disabled because the input system have 12 and more small input buttons. In this paper, we developed Korean language input software in order to develop a Korean language input system for the handicapped. The developed system have 5 input buttons and 2 function buttons for Korean language typing using Korean language shape input scheme. This system is not only easy to use by the handicapped, but also simple for children and foreigner to learn Korean language.

  • In the case of a hearing impaired person using sign language, there are many difficulties in communicating with a normal person who does not understand sign language. The sign language translation system is a system that enables communication between the hearing impaired person using sign language and the normal person who does not understand sign language in this situation. Previous studies on sign language translation systems for communication between normal people and hearing impaired people using sign language are classified into two types using video image system and shape input device. However, the existing sign language translation system does not solve such difficulties due to some problems. Existing sign language translation systems have some problems that they do not recognize various sign language expressions of sign language users and require special devices. Therefore, in this paper, a sign language translation system using an artificial neural network is devised to overcome the problems of the existing system.

  • This paper presents a process control language for constructing multiloop control system. which include advanced control algorithms. In order to make controller, this language uses function blocks that do specific operations. Then, the total control algorithm is a set of function blocks, of which each block is represented as a function code. The function code is a line of simple ASCII codes denoting function, input, output, parameters. It is possible to use variables as input/output port of any block. Compared with other language using function block concept, the proposed one enables to use advanced control algorithms undefinitely, such as fuzzy, neural network, predictive controller, etc., because vector and matrix variables as input/output can be used freely in this language. To raise flexibility, we put an intermediate level, which is C-language code, between function code and target-dependent operation code.

  • Hearing impaired people are living in a voice culture area, but due to the difficulty of communicating with normal people using sign language, many people experience discomfort in daily life and social life and various disadvantages unlike their desires. Therefore, in this paper, we study a sign language translation system for communication between a normal person and a hearing impaired person using sign language and implement a prototype system for this. Previous studies on sign language translation systems for communication between normal people and hearing impaired people using sign language are classified into two types using video image system and shape input device. However, existing sign language translation systems have some problems that they do not recognize various sign language expressions of sign language users and require special devices. In this paper, we use machine learning method of artificial neural network to recognize various sign language expressions of sign language users. By using generalized smart phone and various video equipment for sign language image recognition, we intend to improve the usability of sign language translation system.

Preparation of Soil Input Files to a Crop Model Using the Korean Soil Information System (흙토람 데이터베이스를 활용한 작물 모델의 토양입력자료 생성)

  • Soil parameters are required inputs to crop models, which estimate crop yield under a given environment condition. The Korean Soil Information System (KSIS), which provides detailed soil profile record of 390 soil series in the HTML (HyperText Markup Language) format, would be useful to prepare soil input files. Korean Soil Information System Processing Tool (KSISPT) was developed to aid generation of soil input data based on the KSIS database. Java was used to implement the tool that consists of a set of modules for parsing the HTML document of the KSIS, storing data required for preparing soil input file, calculating additional soil parameter, and writing soil input file to a local disk. Using the automated soil data preparation tool, about 940 soil input data were created for the DSSAT model and the ORYZA 2000 model, respectively. In combination with soil series distribution map at 30m resolution, spatial analysis of crop yield could be projected under climate change, which would help the development of adaptation strategies.

  • As computer-related technologies have been developed, legacy design systems have not been appropriate far new computing environment. It is necessary that most of them are either modified or newly developed. However, these activities require quite much amount of cost and time. This paper presents a method of extending legacy design systems to the internet without any modification using XML and XSLT. We have been extended legacy systems in the two viewpoints. First, an XML document has been defined to present the input information of a legacy system which is executed on the consol environment - MS DOS, for example. Also, an XSLT document has been generated to transform an XML document to the input document of the legacy system An XML document is transformed to the input document by XSLT processor according to the transformation rules defined in the XSLT document. This technique to generate input documents is independent to the platform type and facilitates to link legacy systems to other systems. Second, a legacy system controller has been made to control a legacy system and developed a web service to extend it and its controller. The legacy system controller operates it automatically. The web service provides its functions to other systems via internet. We have applied the developed methodologies to the legacy gear design system 조ich calculates AGMA gear rating md made AGMA gem rating web service.

This paper presents a method of extending legacy design system without modification using XML and XSLT. In order to apply the developed method, a good example of legacy design systems, AGMA gear rating system has been extended so as to be suitable for the distributed computing environment. An XML document for AGMA gear rating process is defined. It is transformed to the form of the input document of AGMA gear rating system by XSLT processor according to the transformation rules defined in the AGMA gear rating XSLT document. After that, AGMA gear rating system reads this input document and generates an output document in the server. These operations are automatically executed by the external legacy system controller without user interactions. Using these operations, AGMA gear rating web service has been developed based on SOAP and WSDL to provide the functions of legacy AGMA gear rating system through the distributed network. Any system or user can implement AGMA gear rating process independently to the platform type, without making it for oneself, by simply referring the AGMA gear rating web service via Internet.

  • Recently industry has moved towards automated operations with the goal of achieving better product quality greater productivity and reliability The pump design in characterized by extensive utilization of the related database which contains performance data. The inputs to the system are through interactive dialogue sessions and the basic input consist of flow rate, head, of fluid efficiency and the customer special requirements. These basic inputs along with the numerous rules in the knowledge bases and the mathematical modeling enable the effective design of the pump industry This paper represents the development of an automatic pump design system that was composed of a main program the data input module the drawing module the drawing edit module and was programed by the AutoLISP language under the Auto CAD program The developed system ultimately generates the design for a pump through the AutoCAD language.

  • The DSP silicon compiler consists of language compiler, module generator, placement tool, router, layout generation tools, and simulator. In this paper, The language compiler, the module generator, placement tool, and simulator were developed and provided for the system designer. The language compiler translates the designer's system description language into the intermediate form file. The intermediate form file expresses the interconnections and specifications of the cells in the cell library. The simulator was developed and provided for the behavioral verification of the DSP system. For its implementation, the event-driven technique and the C$^{++}$ task library was used. The module generator was developed for the layout of the verified DSP system, and generates the functional block to be used in the DSP chip. And then the placement tool determines the appropriate positions of the cells in the DSP chip. In this paper, the placement tool was implemented by Min-Cut and Simulated Annealing algorithm. The placement process can be controlled by the several conditions input by the system designer.

  • We implemented a robust Korean broadcast news transcription system for out-of-vocabulary (OOV), tested its performance. The occurrence of OOV words in the input speech is inevitable in large vocabulary continuous speech recognition (LVCSR). The known vocabulary will never be complete due to the existence of for instance neologisms, proper names, and compounds in some languages. The fixed vocabulary and language model of LVCSR system directly face with these OOV words. Therefore our Broadcast news recognition system has an offline OOV update module of language model and vocabulary to solve OOV problem and selects morpheme-based recognition unit (so called, pseudo-morpheme) for OOV robustness.
