혁신클러스터의 성공 요인에 관한 연구 : 판교테크노밸리 사례를 중심으로 (A Study on the Success Factors of Innovation Cluster: A Case of the Pangyo Techno Valley in South Korea)

  • 혁신클러스터는 전 세계적으로 지역의 경쟁력을 높이는 주요 도구로 활용되고 있다. 한국도 정책적으로 다양한 형태의 혁신클러스터를 조성 및 육성하고 있다. 하지만 성공적인 혁신클러스터 육성을 위한 체계적인 분석은 활발하지 않은 실정이다. 본 연구에서는 문헌연구를 통해 혁신클러스터의 성공요인을 도출하고, 이를 활용하여 분석을 위한 프레임워크를 제시하였다. 또한 제시한 프레임워크에 따라 판교테크노밸리를 대상으로 사례연구를 하였다. 분석 결과 성공적인 혁신클러스터를 위해서는 혁신지향적인 환경, 지속적인 정책적 지원, 지식 네트워크의 활성화, 혁신성과의 환류가 중요한 것으로 나타났다.

혁신역량과 혁신성과에 영향을 주는 요인에 관한 연구: 해외시장진출 중소기업을 대상으로 (A Study on Factors Affecting Innovation Capability and Innovation Performance: Focused on SMEs Entering Overseas Market)

  • 본 연구에서는 해외에 진출한 중견기업을 대상으로 혁신성공요인과 혁신성과를 알아보고자 하였다. 보다 구체적으로는 경영자, 조직, 종업원 차원의 요인과 관련하여 리더십, 운영시스템, 변화주도행위를 혁신역량에의 영향 변수로 설정하였으며 혁신역량이 혁신성과에 미치는 영향을 실증 연구를 통해 파악해 보고자 하였다. 더불어 혁신역량에의 영향요인과 혁신성과에 미치는 영향이 본국과 해외진출국가 에서 어떠한 차이가 나는지를 알아보았다. 실증 분석 결과 혁신영향요인 모두 혁신역량에 긍정적 영향을 미치고 있었으며, 혁신역량은 혁신성과에 긍정적 영향을 미치고 있었다. 영향력의 정도에 있어서는 운영시스템, 리더십, 변화주도행위의 순으로 나타났다. 국가간 차이에 있어서는 중국의 경우 운영시스템, 리더십, 변화주도행위의 순이나 큰 차이는 없는 것으로 나타났다. 한국의 경우는 운영시스템과 리더십은 긍정적 영향을 미치나, 종업원의 개별적 변화주도행위는 혁신역량에 영향을 미치지 않는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구 결과는 해외 진출 기업에게 있어서는 현지 특성에 맞는 혁신역량 강화 노력이 필요하다는 점과 한국의 경우 보다 고도화된 혁신역량 및 혁신성과의 창출을 위해서 종업원 개인의 변화주도행위를 이끌어 내도록 하는 추가적인 활동이 요구됨을 보여주고 있다.

Effects of Green Operations and Green Innovation on Firm's Environmental Performance

  • This study examines how green operations affect firm's environmental performance with green innovation as a mediator in the context of electronic industry. We carry out an empirical study with 141 valid questionnaires collected from high-tech manaufactures in Taiwan. The results show that positive relationships exist among green operations, green innovation and environmental performance (in both operational performance and managerial performance). However, an integration of green operations with green innovation would influence firm's environmental performance more positively than the sole effects of green operations. It suggests that high-tech manufacturers should pay greater attention to green innovative strategies in order to cope with customer demand and, thereby, enhancing customer satisfaction and sustainable operations. This study has contributed to the extant literature by providing valuable academic references and pragmatic guidelines for firms to gain competitive advantages through green operations and green innovation.

Strategic Cooperation and Failure in Innovation Processes: Empirical Evidence from the Korean Manufacturing Industry

  • The aim of this paper is to analyse the impacts of R&D cooperation and obstacles to technological innovation on the innovation failure of the Korean manufacturing firms. Two hierarchical regression models including interaction variables are employed for the analysis. Some interesting findings are: first, almost all the obstacles have positive and significant effects on the failure. Second, R&D cooperation positively or negatively moderates the impact of obstacles to technological innovation on the innovation failure, although R&D cooperation itself is not directly related to the failure. Third, the interaction effects between the cooperation and the obstacles influence the failure in various manners. This study is expected to help manufacturing firms which are under unfavourable environments to formulate their cooperation strategies successfully based on what they learn from the failure.

Effects of Foreign Investor Ownership on a Firm's Innovation Process: A Focus on Business-Group Affiliation in Korea

  • Purpose - This study investigates the effects of foreign investor ownership on firm innovation and the different stages of the firm innovation process for business group affiliation (affiliated firms) and nonaffiliated firms. Design/methodology - Research and development (R&D) intensity is used as a proxy for firm innovation. We use a sample of 7,655 firm-year observations of Korean listed firms from 2001 to 2015. To identify the distinct features of business group affiliation and how foreign investor ownership affects firm innovation, we divide the sample into affiliated and non-affiliated firms. Moreover, we classify total R&D expenditures as research and development expenditures. Findings - This study finds a positive relationship between foreign investor ownership and innovation in non-affiliated firms. However, the foreign investor ownership's role in facilitating firm innovation does not influence business group affiliation. Moreover, the results show that foreign investor ownership encourages firms to increase research expenditures, which is the amount spent in the early stages of a firm's R&D process. Originality/value - Existing studies have overlooked the distinct features of business group affiliation and the different characteristics of research and development expenditures. Thus, this study considers the distinct features of business group affiliation and investigates how foreign investor ownership affects different stages of R&D activities.

  • Social capital contains relational, structural and cognitive dimensions. This study regards social capital as diminishing factor in innovation resistance. Trust, structuring individual tie and vision sharing which are representatives of three dimensions of social capital diminish innovation resistance. So innovation becomes more successful.

커피프랜차이즈 최고경영자의 리더십이 혁신성과에 미치는 영향: 조직신뢰의 매개효과 (The Impact of Coffee Shop Franchise CEO Leadership on Innovation Performance: Mediating Role of Organizational Trust)

  • Purpose - This study aims to examine the impact of leadership on organizational trust and innovation performance, and to identify whether organizational trust plays a mediating role in the relationship between leadership and innovation performance. Also, this study attempts to find out how to improve organizational efficiency and effectiveness based on leadership-based or trust-based strategies. And, this research proposed that organizational trust plays a core mediating role in the relationship between transactional and transformational leadership and innovation performance. Research design, data, and methodology - In order to test the hypotheses of this study, the survey was conducted towards franchise coffee shop employees between November 7 and 18, 2016. We contacted top executives of coffee shop franchise headquarters and explained the purpose of this study. Among 150 questionnaires distributed, 123 were collected. Of these collected questionnaires, 102 questionnaires were coded and analyzed for further analysis. In order to test the unidimensionality and reliability of the factors, factor analysis and reliability test were performed using SPSS/PC+ 22.0. And, the hypotheses were tested using hierarchical mediated regression analysis. Result - The results are as follows. First, transactional leadership, and intellectual stimulation, motivation of transformational leadership had significant impacts on organizational trust. Second, organizational trust, transactional leadership, and influence of transformational leadership had significant impacts on innovation performance. Third, the mediating test of organizational trust showed that transactional leadership plays a partial mediator, and intellectual of transformational leadership plays a full mediator in the relationship between leadership and innovation performance. Conclusions - The implications of this study are as follows. First, the top management should provide their organizational members incentives or rewards based on their performance. Second, top management should identify and express a clear vision and desirable organizational goals for the future, present an idealized vision, and communicate to organizational members that the vision is achievable, also have organizational members to think creatively and find optimal solutions to difficult problems. In sum, this study revealed the important role of leadership in embedding organizational trust in and improving innovation performance of coffee shop employees and the mediating role of organizational trust in the influence of leadership on innovation performance.

제조업체의 R&D 협력이 혁신 활동에 미치는 영향 : 조직혁신의 조절효과를 중심으로 (The Effect of R&D Cooperation of Manufacturing Firms on Innovation Activities : Focusing on the Moderating Effect of Organizational Innovation)

  • 오늘날 혁신은 기존의 패러다임에 도전하며 자신의 분야뿐만 아니라 다른 여러 분야와 협력함으로써 이루어지며, 이에 따라 개방형 혁신의 중요성이 강조되고 있다. 본 연구는 개방형 혁신이 혁신 활동에 어떤 영향을 미치는지 분석하였고, 다양한 혁신 활동에서 조직혁신의 역할을 살펴보았다. 분석을 위해 과학기술정책연구원(STEPI)에서 수행한 2016년 한국기업혁신조사(KIS) 데이터를 활용하였고, 총 1,453개 제조업체를 표본으로 선정하여 로지스틱 회귀분석을 수행하였다. 분석 결과, R&D 협력은 새로운 지식이나 기술을 획득하기 위한 가장 대표적인 수단으로써 제품혁신에 긍정적인 영향을 미친 반면, R&D 협력은 공정혁신과는 큰 관련이 없는 것으로 나타났다. 조직혁신의 경우에는 R&D 협력이 제품혁신과 공정혁신에 미치는 긍정적인 영향을 모두 강화하는 것으로 나타나, 조직 변화는 새로운 혁신 활동에 긍정적인 역할을 한다고 설명할 수 있다. 즉, R&D 협력과 관련하여 기업들은 조직혁신을 고려할 필요가 있을 것이다. 본 연구는 다양한 혁신 유형의 인과관계와 역할에 대해 분석한 점에서 의의가 있으며, 향후 기업들이 혁신 활동을 원활히 수행하는데 기여할 것이다.

산업간 비교를 통한 기술혁신주도형 중소기업의 성과분석 (Empirical Study on the Factors affecting Technology Innovation-driven SMEs' Performance: Comparison between IT and BT Industries)

  • This paper attempts to identify variables which affect Korean technology innovation-driven SMEs' performance in comparison with IT and BT industries. Technology development strategy, marketing capability, intellectual capital managerial ability are included to generate variables for the empirical research. The results of this study show that technology development strategy, marketing capability, intellectual capital managerial ability influence on the sales growth of technology-based SME in IT and BT industries. It also discusses some implications of Korean technology innovation-driven SMEs' strategy and management.
