A 84 year old male patient with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) was treated by Jeungsonbaekchulsan and Gakbyeongyeonsu-tang for ten days. In the course of treatments, this patient was evaluated with Roussel Uclaf Casusality Assessment Method (RUCAM), showing results of drug induced liver injury. Herb medicine was immediately discontinued, followed by therapeutic laser treatments once a day for one week combined with 2 weeks of GODEX$^{(R)}$ administration. Transaminase results were lowered and changes in blood test results were time-effective changes. Therapeutic laser therapy could be considered effective on drug induced liver injury with further studies.

Objectives : This study was performed to evaluate the effects of thoracolumbar junction's Hyeopcheok points(夾脊穴) for low-back pain in the thoracolumbar junction syndrome. Method : 1. Measurement : We investigated 26 patients with low-back pain. The unpleasantness of pain was measured by visual analogue scale(VAS), and the Oswestry low-back pain disability index(ODI). We compared the VAS and ODI scores of the two groups statistically. 2. Intervention : Use Acupuncture and bee venom injection in thoracolumbar junction's Hyeopcheok points that display main tender points. Also, herb medication and physical therapy was used. Results and Conclusion : As a result of treatment, thoracolumbar junction's Hyeopcheok points is very effective for low-back pain. However, more cases are required to oriental medicine in order to prove the availability.

■ Objectives The purpose of this study is to report the improvement of dilated cardiomyopathy after traditional Korean medical treatment; herb-med, acupuncture, moxibustion. ■ Methods A patient with cardiomyopathy whose chef complaint was oversleep, shortness of breath, fatigue and coldness of hand-foot received inpatient treatment from September 2^nd 2019 to September 23^rd 2019. And we analyzed treatment progress and result. ■ Results We observed that traditional Korean medical treatment decreased symptoms; Fatigue by 30% and Coldness of hand-foot by 100%. And The patient's general condition is improved. ■ Conclusion We report this clinical study to be helpful in treating patients of dilated cardiomyopathy by traditional Korean medicine.

We met results like the followings through the literatures and questionnaires about the tasks and solutions about the insurance fee of packed medical herbs. 1) It's turned out that 74.8% of herb doctors agrees to the insurance fee of packed medical herbs. However, in comparison with the same survey of the herb doctor association the percentage of general approval went somewhat lower, and especially the percentage of 'positive approval' became notably lower$(43.7%{\rightarrow}26.5%)$ and the percentage of 'active objection' raised about 2 times$(6.8%{\rightarrow}12.9%)$. Inquiring into the approval reasons on the insurance fee application of packed medical herbs some heads such as 'development toward treatment medical science' and 'decrease of publics burden' were higher than the one of 'management income and expenditure.' 2) As a result of the research, 36.0% of the patients and 42.8% of the residents recognized that the pay range of Chinese herb health insurance is narrow. They recognized that less people have the experiences of Chinese medical hospital use and internal application of the packed medical herbs as they are older, men rather than women. 85.4% of the patients and 74.9% of the residents agreed on the insurance pay of packed medical herbs. It's shown that they agree on the Chinese medical hospital use more as the economic standard is lower, on the insurance pay as they have ever taken the packed medical herbs. In the aspect of increase of insurance fee, 66.7% of the patients and 44.3% of the residents agreed on the insurance pay of packed medical herbs, and 18.1% and 36.1% disagreed on the insurance pay of packed medical herbs. The main objective reason why they disagree on the insurance pay of packed medical herbs was 'because the insurance fee goes up higher,' which answered 95.2% of the patients and 78.8% of the residents. 7.22% of the patients and 1.80% of the residents answered that they can pay more insurance fee in case of the insurance pay of packed medical herbs. However, in the priority order of the insurance pay, it hold the 5th position between 2 target research groups which was less than medical examination, charges for hospital accommodation and taking MRI. 3) According to the result of analysis about the cost of packed medical herbs, current practice price is 115,000 won and the average prime cost of a packed medical herb is 73,000 to 106,000 won. It's examined that the herb doctors regard that 95,000 won will be reasonable when the packed medical herb is payed in insurance. However, it was found out that the public generally thinks that the price would be appropriate on the level of 30,000 to 40,000 won and the percentage of the answers of 20,000 won to 30,000 was fairly high. 4) the central system of a prescription should be change into the central system of demonstration and the sick and wounded. 5) To solve this problem, the government should regulate it to pass by the circulation gradation of [importer, $peasantry{\rightarrow}manufacturer{\rightarrow}wholesaler{\rightarrow}distributor$(Chinese medical hospital, pharmacy dispensary of Chinese medicine)]And it should intervene into the quality and the circulation steps of Chinese medicine through 'the office or organization which is in charge of certification of Chinese medicine' and 'the office or organization which is in charge of the circulation of Chinese medicine.' And some actions such as simple severance, lavation, drying should be included into the conception of manufacture and the boundary between food and medical supplies should be made at a manufactory. And the regulation of standardized goods at one's own house should be improved so that, the peasantry can sell the materials of Chinese medicine only to the manufacturer. 6) In company with the insurance pay of packed medical herbs, the study about the separation of dispensary from medical practice in the Chinese medicine should be accomplished.

A boy who was eight years old visited the Dept. of Oriental Medical Ophthamology & Otolaryngology & Dermatology Hospital, Dongeui University with allergic purpura. He was suffering from the purpuric rash occurring on the lower extremities and the edema of leg. We treated a patient with only Oriental Medicine(a internal use of the herbal medicine, Dangguisusangamibang and a acupuncture). After four days or so, the symptom of the skin disease was recovered remarkably. The second case, a different boy who was ten years old visited the same hospital with allergic purpura. He was suffering from the purpuric rash occurring on the lower extremities, too. We also treated a patient with only Oriental Medicine(internal use of the herbal medicine, Dangguisusangamibang and a acupuncture). After one weeks or so, the symptom of the skin disease was improved remarkably, we think that these are good cases to treat with Oriental Medicine, Dangguisusangamibang. We suggest that the Oriental Herb medicine, Dangguisusangamibang have an effect with allergic purpura which means Podoyug in Oriental medicine.

Objectives: The purpose of this study is to report the effects of oriental medicine on 2 patients with premature ovarian failure. Methods: The patients who had amenorrhea caused by premature ovarian failure were treated by oriental medicine such as herb medication, acupuncture and moxibustion. We evaluated the results of treatments by change of symptoms, serum hormone assay, basal body temperature and Kupperman's Index. Results: After oriental medicine, the patients could have their normal menstrual cycle. Also serum hormone assay, basal body temperature and Kupperman's Index were improved. Conclusions: This study shows that oriental medicine has effects on patients with premature ovarian failure. And serum hormone assay, basal body temperature and Kupperman's Index would be valid measurement to evaluate the effect of treatments for premature ovarian failure.

Objectives: This study was conducted to examine the current status of traditional Korean medicine studies on chronic prostatitis in Korea, identify deficiencies, and suggest future medicine research methods to lay the foundation for traditional Korean medicine treatment. Methods: All domestic clinical research papers on the traditional Korean treatment of chronic prostatitis were selected from the literature published until October 2023 in three domestic databases. A total of 13 selected research data were classified into clinical research papers. Results: In clinical research papers, the basis for the diagnosis of cases was clinical symptoms through medical history listening and diagnosis through past visits to hospitals. The average treatment period was 7 weeks, and the duration of treatment was not significantly affected by the duration of the disease. The most widely used Korean medicine treatment intervention was herbal medicine. Conclusions: This study included all domestic clinical research papers on chronic prostatitis to identify research trends in the Korean oriental medicine community. Based on this, it is meaningful to confirm areas that need to be supplemented in future research plans.

Background and Purpose : Ceramic based infra-red Therapy has been effective on derma system. The purpose of this case was to know the effect of ceramic based infra-red therap therapy on atopic dematitis. Material and Methods Among initial 25 outpatients with atopic detmatitis who visited Kangnam KyungHee Oriental hospital from Mar. 2000 to Sep. 2002, we excluded 4 outpatients that quited treatment after 1st treatment. We treated ceramic based infra-red therapy, herb medication treatment and Acupuncture women patients. Ceramic based infra-red therapy using GI-2000 system was lighted to under for 30 minutes. SoPungSan(消風散) was one of the effective herb medication on atopic dermatitis in oriental. In acupuncture treatment. We activated Kokchi(LI11, 曲池), Choksamni(S36, 足三里) and inhibited Yanggye(LI5, 陽谿), Yanggok(SI5, 陽谷). Results and Conclusions Ceramic based infra-red therapy, herb medication treatment and acupuncture therapy showed usfull effect on atopic dermatitis.

Angiogenesis is a fundamental process in reproduction and wound healing. Under these condition, neovascularization is tightly regulated. Unregulated angiogenesis may lead to several angiogenic diseases, and is thought to be indispensible for solid tumor growth and metastsis. The construction of new vascular network is a multistep cascade involving basement membrane degradation, endothelial cell proliferation, endothelial cell migration, and tube formation. Newly reported anti-angiogenic agents in oriental medical field have targeted both specific and multistep stages in the angiogenic process. From recent approach in oriental medical field with several herb medicines including activating blood flow and removing blood stasis medicine(活血化瘀藥), it may be possible in the future to develope specific anti-angiogenic agents that offer a less toxic potential therapy for cancer and angiogenic disease.

This study was designed to investigate about the efficiency of herb treatment at the patients with urinary tract infection. The Patient group was consisted of 33 CVA patients who were diagnosed as abnormal on urinalysis at the Oriental Medical hospital of Dong-eui University from July in 2006 to April in 2007. And we divided the patient group to 3 of small groups(Bojungikitang, Kumokpaljungsan, and the others herb). Then we treated the patients with each herbs and checked urinary nitrate, leukocyte, bacteria, WBC after 3 days, 7 days. The results are as follows: Each herbs improved the results of urinalysis inspection. The efficiency of each herbs about UTI begins to be indicated after 3days. Each herbs applied to UTI is more effective after 7 days than after 3 days. As the results, the herb treatments improve effectively the result of urinalysis inspection when precsribing to UTI patients more 7 days.
