  • A construction project is very costly and takes a long time to make investment and yield profit. For this reason, financial institutions are cautious about financing construction projects. Meanwhile, a construction company needs financing from financial institutions to cover a large expense of a construction project. Thus, there is likely to be a close correlation between financing conditions and business operation of a construction company. To examine the relationship, variables were identified that are related to insolvency of a construction company and changes in financing conditions. The analysis period is between the second quarter of 2001 and the fourth quarter of 2010. Data was retrieved from TS2000 established by Korea Listed Companies Association (KLCA), Statistics Office, and Construction Economy Research Institute of Korea (CERIK). In terms of methodology, VECM (Vector Error Correction Model) was used to analyze dynamic relationship between changes in financing conditions and insolvency of a construction company based on the identified variables. The hypothesis was that changes in financing conditions would significantly affect business of a construction company, but, the analysis did not find a close relation between the two factors. However, it was shown that poor business of a construction company affects financing conditions adversely.

Thus, the first priority here is to determine the causes of prolongation of construction projects and to evaluate their importance. Khuzestan Steel Company (KSC) has made important contribution to the projects in Iran and in turn is required to finish them on time. In this study, an attempt was made to investigate the causes of delay in implementation of construction projects held by this company. Data was collected through questionnaire distributed among the sample including 10 owners, 10 consultants and 15 con-tractors. Accordingly, participants rated the causes in the questionnaire so the most important priorities of each area were specified using TOPSIS method. The results showed that according to the employers, consultants and contractors' viewpoints, the most important reason for delays in construction projects of KSC is related to the financial matters. Hence, according to the results obtained, causes for delays in the company's projects are largely related to the drilling permits and long administrative cycle to renew them. Besides, continuous production of steel in this company is another reason to delays of construction projects.

  • The in-core instrumentation measures core power distribution and coolant temperature in local regions of the core in pressurized water reactors. The installation types are distinguished by the designs of routing paths that exit either through reactor bottom mounted instrument nozzles or through reactor top mounted instrument nozzles. Although each type has unique advantages, it is generally known that top mounted design is more competitive with respect to emphasizing nuclear safety issues and ability to cope with severe accidents. The international nuclear vendors have provided various types of reactors with top mounted design. Nuclear power reactors in Korea, however, only have been designed to be applicable to the use of bottom mounted design, and it has been pointed out that the capabilities of Korean reactors against severe accidents should be further enhanced. The paper deals with technical issues on reactor internal and external design, in-core instrumentation, support assembly, sealing mechanism with nozzles, handling, and analytical issues in order to establish the ways of development.
