A Study of 3D Stereoscopic TV Animation Production: A Case Study of Pororo, the Little Penguin (3D TV 입체 애니메이션 제작에 대한 연구: <뽀롱 뽀롱 뽀로로> 4 시즌 테스트 제작사례분석을 중심으로)

  • Success of brought a large revolution in the world of cinema and the media market. They have predicted new industrial possibility for 3D Stereoscopic image and trends started to support for producing in the field of various media platform. We can see our domestic technology creates higher added value in the sphere of hard-wear for the market of worldwide home TV electronics. But in reality we are short of effective and organized pipeline of producing and we should analyse cases more for Stereoscopic 3D animations. Therefore in this paper, we present case study on animation made into Stereoscopic 3D animation to build up suitable Stereoscopic 3D TV animations pipeline. We differentiate from any other Stereoscopic content by applying artistic elements and technological elements, especially human factor and 3D Sweetening to elevate the level of 3D Stereoscopic effect for main audience, children. We propose how to strengthen the competitiveness of Korean animation for world animation market.

The Comparison of the Long-Take Technique of Cinemas and the Continuity of Architectural Space Based on Lacan's Visual-Art Theory (라깡의 시지각 예술이론에 의한 영화의 롱 테이크 기법과 건축 공간의 연속성 비교)

  • This study aims at establishing a basic theory for the combination of architecture and movies by comparing the long-take technique of movies and the continuity of space, one of space composition principles, which is important in digital architecture based on Jacques Lacan's visual-art theory and finding common features and differences of them. The following is a summary of the conclusions. First, analyzing the long-take technique on the basis of Lacan's visual-art theory found that the subject of representation is scenes of movies and that staring shows features of narrative. Second, the long-take technique can be thought as a cinematic technique which tries to realize the real order beyond the symbolic order in real life through the process of continuous replication of replication of replication of a scene in one shot. Third, in contemporary architecture, which is compared to the long-take technique in the past, the inclined space of opened gaze is similar to the method which tries to realize architectural space of the reality which belongs to the symbolic order close to the real order which belong to significant in human unconsciousness. Fourth, the freeform continuous space of closed gaze, which can be compared to contemporary long take combined with computer graphic technology, has more difficulty in realizing the real order than the long-take technique in the past and inclined, continuous space as the feature which belongs to $signifi{\acute{e}}$ in human consciousness has been strengthened through the circulation which repeats and expands along an observer's movement. Fifth, when the contemporary long-take technique and freeform continuous space expand gaze which opens from the inside to the outside, it is considered that the space which is closer to the real order than the classic long-take technique and inclined continuous space can be created.

Geant4를 이용한 STEIN 검출기의 입자 분리 검출 모의실험 예비 결과 분석

  • 지구 자기권에 존재하는 플라즈마 입자의 다중관측을 목적으로 개발된 초소형 탑재체 STEIN (SupraThermal Electron, Ion, Neutral) 은 경희대학교와 UC Berkeley가 공동으로 개발 중인 3대의 초소형 과학위성 TRIO-CINEMA (TRiplet Ionosphere Observatory - Cubesat for Ion, Neutral, Electron and MAgnetic fields) 에 탑재될 입자 검출기이다. 32개의 픽셀로 이루어진 STEIN 검출기는 2~300 keV의 전자, 4~300 keV의 이온과 중성입자(Energetic Neutral Atom: ENA) 를 분리 계측할 목적으로 설계되었으며, 하전입자가 정전장 편향기를 통과하여 서로 다른 검출기 픽셀에 도달함으로써 전자와 이온, 중성입자를 분리하여 계측할 수 있도록 하였다. 한편, STEIN 구조물에서 발생한 2차 입자의 검출을 방지하기 위해 정전 편향기 사이에 차단날(blade)을 설계하였다. 본 연구에서는 STEIN 모의실험 예비 결과로써 전기장에 크기 및 차단날에 의한 하전입자의 궤적과 이에 따른 분리 계측 성능을 알아보고자 Geant4 (GEometry ANd Tracking)를 사용하여 검출기 픽셀에 입사하는 전자의 초기 위치를 분석하였다. 전자의 입사 위치는 검출기로부터 5 cm 전방에서 6 mm * 20 mm 범위 내에서 무작위로 생성하여 검출기의 방향으로 수직 입사하였다. 분석 결과 전자들은 전기장의 방향에 따라 편향되는 결과를 보였으며, 저에너지 전자는 강한 전기장의 영향으로 차단날에 의해 차폐되어 검출되지 않았다. 따라서 전기장의 크기와 차단날에 따른 입자 분리 검출이 가능함을 본 모의실험을 통해 확인하였으며, STEIN 운용 시 입자 분리 검출 및 결과 분석 기반으로 본 연구 결과를 사용될 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

고에너지 입자 검출기 STEIN의 아날로그회로 설계

  • 경희대학교 우주탐사학과에서는 우주공간 탐사를 위해 Trio(TRiplet Ionospheric Observatory)-CINEMA(Cubesat for Ions, Neutrals, Electrons and MAgnetic fields)로 명명된 초소형 위성을 개발하고 있다. 과학임무는 지구 저궤도에서 고에너지 입자를 관측하는 것이며, 이를 위해 고에너지 (2~300keV) 입자 검출기와 자기장 측정기가 탑재된다. 저에너지 입자 검출기 시스템인 STEIN(SupraThermal Electrons, Ions, Neutrals)은 $1\times4$ Array의 개선된 실리콘 검출기와 이온, 전자, 중성입자를 분리할 수 있는 정전장 편향기, 그리고 신호를 처리하는 전자회로로 구성되어있다. 설계된 전자회로는 매우 작은 검출기 기판, 아날로그 기판과 디지털 기판으로 이루어져 있고, 475mW 이하의 저 전력으로 동작한다. 또한 2~100keV의 에너지를 1keV이하의 해상도로 30,000event/sec/pixel 까지 관측 할 수 있도록 회로를 설계하였다. 센서로 들어온 입자로 인해 발생한 펄스의 신호는 4개의 아날로그 회로가 담당하게 되는데, Folded cascode amplifier를 배치하여 증폭률을 높인 Charge sensitive amplifier를 통해 신호를 증폭하고, $2{\mu}s$ unipolar gaussian shaping amplifier를 통해 읽기 쉽게 처리된 신호를 상한파고선별기와 하한파고 선별기를 통해 유효 값 여부를 판단하고, 피크 검출기를 통해 피크의 타이밍을 측정한 뒤 신호를 아날로그-디지털 변환 회로를 통하여 8bit의 값으로 나타내어, 입자들의 Spectrum을 측정하게 된다. 크기와 소비전력이 적음에도 검출성능이 우수하기 때문에 이 시스템은 향후 우주탐사 시스템에 있어 매우 중요한 역할을 수행 할 것으로 생각한다.

  • As a communication language, non-text records and archives such as photographs, images, and videos are becoming more important than text records. As a result, domestic institution, organizations, and specialists related to record management have been emphasizing the necessity of the archive management system appropriate for the distinctive characteristics of image records. This paper summarizes the points to be considered for the establishment of the Korean audiovisual archives management system, based on the writer's experience of participating in the International Audiovisual Archives Management Training for professionals in the world(INA Frame) of 2018. In particular, various types of contents including cinema, broadcasting, cultural should be managed at the national level. Furthermore, the necessity of a new concept establishment for "public audiovisual heritage" is accentuated. In addition, the tasks regarding the establishment of foundation, such as the modification of the related systems and infrastructures, and the layouts of the institution or governance, should be reviewed and revised. Moreover, the preliminary tasks revised, should be lead to the establishment of stable management system for public audiovisual archives of Korea.

  • This paper is a study of the film A Deaf, Sam-ryong by Na Un-kyoo released in 1929 at Choseon theater. This study compared the partial scenes of the currently remaining A Deaf, Sam-ryong with related scenarios and original works, after the restructuring of the structure of A Deaf, Sam-ryong and was written for the purpose of reviewing it. The film A Deaf, Sam-ryong is based on Na Dohyang's novel A Deaf, Sam-ryong. However, in the process of adaptation, it was a work that strongly reflected the intention of Na Un-kyoo as a scenario writer. The study of these intentions has to reorganize the remaining scenes at present and rely on research methods to compare them with related scenarios or original works. Even if a situation that makes it difficult to draw clear conclusions is drawn in this research process, we can not but dismiss the method of this research itself if we can not stop the purpose of restoring the loss of Korean cinema. As a result, this study is devised to carry out this study, which had been discontinued due to the lack of work and related data so far.

Toward Cinema for All People -Barrier-free Films and Cultural Civil Rights ('더 많은' 모두를 위한 영화 -배리어프리 영상과 문화적 시민권)

  • Barrier-free films enhance accessibility to audiovisual image contents by providing specific information on screen and through sound so that people with vision or hearing loss can receive the same amount of information as those without disabilities and immerse themselves in the audiovisual images. This study pays attention to barrier-free audiovisual contents in relation to the cultural civil rights of people with vision or hearing loss in South Korea. While institutional efforts have been made in the 2010s to improve the access to audiovisual media of people with vision or hearing loss, the goal of enabling people with vision or hearing loss to fully enjoy all audiovisual contents at a level equal to the non-disabled has not yet been realized. Amid the lingering conflict between disabled groups and multiplexes that has lasted years, the global video streaming service Netflix has aggressively threatened the dominance of local multiplexes with the launch of its Korean service. As Netflix, which is subject to U.S. regulations guaranteeing the rights of people with vision or hearing loss, has produced original dramas and movies involving Korean production teams, the cultural civil rights discourse of the disabled has transitioned to the issue of the rights of cultural consumers crossing national borders in the era of globalization. Changes in the media environment raise the issue of civil rights guarantees in which disabled people enjoy the right to simultaneously watch movies and comment on movies by participating in a common discourse, equally with non-disabled people. The "right to be part of the audience for Korean cinema" for Korean deaf people, which has long been neglected, should also be considered as a cultural civil right that crosses the boundaries of language, nation and disabilities. This essay examines the current issues surrounding the right to cultural entertainment of people with vision or hearing loss in South Korea in conjunction with the contemporary trend of rapid changes in the media environment and the global spread of the movement for cultural civil rights of people with disabilities, and suggests the need for visual culture studies to take a serious step toward disability studies.

  • The purpose of this paper aim to figure in contemporary human documentary as a cultural aspect of daily life in the era of 1920s in Korea. The significant of documentary exams the record and social-oriented representation methods of important essay of works. The result of an analysis of Norbert Weber's with historical figure of modern Korea society given the appearance of a human observer ever put out a human form of the documentary format in accordance with the configuration of visual narrative and the structure of the recipient to implement the symbolic value of belief. And, the result of the technical expression of the various frame works with the configuration of the reality of importance of human values and describe the experiences of being analyzed.

Present and Future for the Curriculums of Game Majors (게임학과 교과과정 현황과 변화 추이)

  • Twenty years have passed since the first game department was established in Korea. We now need to review and foresee the future of game department curriculums. In this paper, we characterize and analyze the current curriculums of game departments in Korean colleges. The study focuses on the detailed course works based on the game making processes, which are largely composed of game design, game programming and game graphic design. Then we analyze the past curriculum changes of the game programming and the game graphic design departments. Also, we survey the curriculums of cinema departments which are older than game departments, thus may show the hint for the future of game departments. As the results of the analysis, the curriculums of game departments have to strengthen the game design related courses and have to expand the game making exercise courses.

The Willing Suspension of Disbelief in Animated Spokes-Characters : An Exploratory Study (애니메이션캐릭터에 대한 불신의 자발적 유예 : 탐색적 연구)

  • This exploratory study examined the possibility that the notion, willing suspension of disbelief, can explain the processing of animated spokes-character in advertising. Willing suspension of disbelief has originated from Coleridge's explanation of poetic faith. And the term has been theoretically studied in the response of fiction in creative works, such as cinema, dramas, and advertisements, as well as literature. So far, willing suspension of disbelief has been proposed as a mediator of empathy, cognitive responses and affective responses to fiction. On these theoretical bases, a survey was conducted to 64 people with 3 advertisements to test the validity of the discriminant function. Findings of discriminant function analysis are as follows: First, the variable of willing suspension of disbelief well discriminated between the willing group and the non-willing group. Secondly, the Intensity of willing suspension of disbelief showed statistically significant difference between the willing group and the non-willing group. Thus, according to these results, it is proposed that the effects of the willing suspension of disbelief can be examined as a mediator of the response of fiction in further substantial studios.
