아편, 주석, 고무: 페낭 화인사회의 형성과 전개, 1786-1941 (Opium, Tin, and Rubber: The Formation of Chinese Society in Penang, 1786-1941)

  • This paper examines the formation and evolution of Chinese society in Penang over 155 years. Since it was ruled by the British in 1786, many immigrants gathered in Penang. Among them, much of the population was Chinese. It could be offered to clarify the historical process of the development of Chinese society in Penang by paying attention to the three items - opium, tin, and rubber. All the conflict and friction over these products were main causes of prosperity and decay for the Chinese society in Penang. In the early 19th century, the Chinese colossus could get their capital accumulation by taking advantage of 'opium farm'. They amassed their fortune through development of tin mines newly discovered in Perak during the late 19th century. It was the age of Chinese Colossuses deeply connected with Chinese secret societies. After the rubber plantations were developed by the Western capital in the early 20th century, the age of Chinese Colossuses was gradually fallen down. From this point of view one can be provided a new perspective on the history of Penang and the Chinese society of its own. The three scopes for history enable us to make a new interpretation about the issue of stratification within Chinese society in Penang. Especially this research focused on the economic characteristics of Chinese secret societies as 'social capital', and on the identity conflicts between traditional Strait Chinese(peranakan) elite and emerging sinkeh Chinese merchants. The identity problem between 'Laokeh' and 'Sinkeh' in the early 20th century was intentionally exaggerated by modern researchers. Their conflicts seems to be caused by different economic interests rather than identity. We need to consider again the rise and fall of Chinese society in Penang with flexible thinking.

  • The idiom is the fixed phrase with the traits of stable patterns, habitual uses, historic and ethnical characteristics. The numeral is categorized under the substantial, it represents the quantity or sequence, it can be divided into cardinal numerals and ordinal numerals. Although a considerable of the Korean numeral idioms generated from Chinese numeral idioms, however, due to various factors such as different historical background, customs, and language structure, in the long term, Korean and Chinese numeral idioms formed different characteristics in many aspects. This paper mostly examines the outside form of numeral idioms in Korean and Chinese. The aim is to summarize the different system of Korean and Chinese by analyzing the rules of the numeral idioms in Korean and Chinese.

중국(中國) 성인여성(成人女性)의 한국산(韓國産) 패션제품(製品) 인지도(認知度)에 관(關)한 연구(硏究) (A Study on the Awareness about Korean Fashion Product of Chinese Adult Women)

  • The object of this study looks into the awareness and satisfaction about Korean fashion product of Chinese adult women inhabited in China, by comparing with foreign fashion product. The questionnaire used as a method of measurement, and the sample was 848 Chinese women from 20 to 50 age, living in China. The analysis of all data was handled by SAS(Statistical Analysis System) program, Frequency Analysis, ANOVA, Duncan's Multiple Range Test was also executed. The results from the study were as follows: 1. The preference about Korean fashion product of Chinese women is higher than American, English and Japanese fashion product, but is lower than Italy, French and Chinese fashion product in each age. 2. About the quality, design, service's satisfaction and brand reputation of Chinese adult women, Italy product is first ranked and Korean, Chinese is followed. 3. About the possession item on Korean fashion product of Chinese adult women, younger and younger chinese women on age, Ta-Ryun resident in area, a company employee on occupation hold the most. 4. About the recognition on Korean fashion product of Chinese adult women, younger and younger preferred the popularity and special design of Korean fashion product, the women inhabited in Ta-Ryun and Buk-Kyung recognized the Korean product as economical. 5. About the satisfaction on Korean fashion product of Chinese adult women, there is no significant difference on age, residential district and occupation.

대구화교중고등학교 학생의 이중적 언어사용과 혼종적 정체성 (The Dual Language Usage and Hybrid Identity of the Student of Daegu Chinese Middle·High School)

  • 본 연구는 대구 화교중고등학교 학생들의 이중적 언어사용과 혼종적 정체성을 분석하였다. 이러한 현상은 중국어와 한국어 혹은 중국인과 한국인이라는 요인이 교차하는 지대에서 이루어지는 다양한 관계적 활동들에 의해 생성하고 변화한다. 화교학교 학생들은 유아기에 한국 어머니와 외가로부터 한국어를 자연스럽게 배운 뒤, 성장하면서 화교 아버지와 친가로부터 중국어를 학습함에 따라 이중적 언어습관이 형성된다. 그리고 화교학생의 상당수는 한국학교에서 유치원 교육을 받고 있지만 초등학교 이후부터 거의 모든 학생들은 화교학교에서 공식적으로 중국의 사회 문화 역사를 학습하였다. 화교학생은 가정, 학교 그리고 로컬에서 부모, 형제와 자매, 교사, 친구, 이웃과 중국어와 한국어를 매개로 대화를 한다. 이들은 상황에 따라 중국어와 한국어를 혼합하여 사용하고 있으며, 또한 두 언어를 특별하게 구별하여 인식하고 사용하지 않는다. 화교학생은 자신의 정체성을 중국인과 한국인 모두로 이해하는 혼종적 특성이 나타나고 있다. 또한 이들의 일부는 자신의 정체성을 한국인 반, 중국인 반으로 규정하기도 한다. 본 연구 결과의 객관화를 위해 서울, 인천, 부산에 위치한 화교중고등학교의 학생들을 대상으로 한 후속 연구가 필요하다.

조선한자음(朝鮮漢字音)의 성립(成立)과 변천(變遷) (The Formation and Alternation of Sino-Korean Pronunciation)

  • In most Asian areas Chinese writing and characters had been used as a unique recording device. The way to account for the circumstance related with the writing system could be twofold. Firstly the races inhabited around Sino-territory actually neither used the type of languages as Chinese - not isolating type but agglutinative one - nor established any independent writing letters. Secondly those people who belonged to the races accepted the writing system of China due to the frequent cultural and economical interchange between them and Chinese people. In Korean peninsula the same situation of linguistic phenomenon had been pervasive. The aborigine of the territory who acquired to use Chinese writing applied their knowledge of the second language to record the facts related with the management of the country. But the grammatical structure of Chines writing and native language showed the remarkable contrast; so, the people of the peninsula managed the specific letter system - in other words, the discrepancy between language and writing. This difference carried on the huge influence on the way of using Chinese writing and characters in Korea. Some scholars of historical linguistics of Korean language considered the alternation of Chinese writing system and characters as "the procedure of nativization" - in which the inflow of characters into Korean and the same one continuously used in China illustrated the large gap of the phonological aspects. The method of reading Chinese characters came to be named as Sino-Korean Pronunciation. In the categorization of Chinese characters' pronunciation Sino-Korean Pronunciation was also categorized as the Eastern Pronunciation(東音). It indicates the sound of Chinese characters which has been historically adapted to the phonological system of Korean language. In this paper the main point is to survey the procedure of reception of Chinese writing and characters and that of establishment and alternation of Korean phonetic feature of Chinese writing and characters.

국가이미지와 기업브랜드이미지가 제품이미지 및 구매의도에 미치는 영향에 대한 연구 -한.중 교역을 중심으로- (A Study on the Impact of National Image and Corporation Brand Image on Product Image and Customer's Purchasing Intention)

  • The purpose of this study was to clarify the impact of national and corporate brand image of Korea on chinese consumers' purchasing Intention, also the impact of China on korean consumers' purchasing Intention. And the second aim of the research is to provide Korean businessmen who are interested in chinese market with information about chinese consumers' purchasing behaviour. Data from 205 chinese and korean consumers were analysed. As the result of analyses, it was found that Korean country image positive affects corporate brand image(samsung) and Chinese country image negative affects corporate brand image(haier) and product image. Korean corporate brand image only affects product image on chinese consumers. The product image affects Korean and Chinese consumer's purchasing intention.

중국의 선원교육제도의 개요와 선원송출조직에 관한 조사연구 (A Survey Study on the Outline of Chinese Seafarers' Education System and the Mechanism of Chinese Overseas Seafarers' Employment)

  • Chinese seafarers have begun to be employed by foreign shipowners since 14979. Recognizing the benefits of overseas seafarers employment , Chinese goverment has implemented policy for seafarers' education and supply. Over the past two decades, the goverment has expanded and improved seafarer training facilities. As a result a number of seafarers have been educated, who are now available for employment on Chinese and foreign flag vessels. In 1995, about 20,000 Chinese seafarers served on foregin shipowner's vessels and the total foreign currency they earned was approximately US $300 million. This paper aims to describe the education system for Chinese seafarers and the mechanism of Chinese overseas seafarers employment and to highlight main problems occurred in the mechanism of their overseas employment. It takes the fact-finding research method with literature survey and interview.

  • This paper makes a comparative analysis of and (Third Edition) textbook. In the introduction part, it puts forward the purpose, significance and research object of the text, combs the general situation of the research on the arrangement of business Chinese textbook, discusses the concept and characteristics of business Chinese, and then makes a detailed comparative analysis of and Two Business Textbooks for Korean and Chinese. Firstly, the paper compares the compiling principles, compiling purposes and applicable objects. Then, it compares the text content, vocabulary selection, grammar teaching, culture and other aspects. Business Chinese has more international teaching ideas and diversified teaching methods in textbook editing, while the former is more targeted in different countries, reflecting more contents of cultural comparison between China and Korea in textbook content. we hope to find a reasonable plan for the compilation of Korean business Chinese textbooks.

  • The purpose of this research are to analyze the Chinese-Korean dwelling spatial structure and distribution of its area as a part of research for Chinese-Korean dwelling and village in China. The study area for this research was chosen three Chinese provinces located in north east part of China where the population of Chinese-Korean dwelling spatical structures and distribution of their area were found using this research.
