As of 2010, apartment occupies more than half of all houses in Korea. It took just half a century since 1960 when apartment was introduced to ordinary people for the first time. The apartment has spread over the nation very swiftly since then. This phenomena needs more inclusive explanations than the investigations into the government's policies or economical situations. Without satisfaction and consensus of people, the universal spread of apartment might be fairly unrealizable. In this vein, the research and analysis has been performed in order to grasp the picture of everyday life's discourse based on the related articles from five major newspapers and five women's magazines during 1960~1989. From the articles' discourses we tried to understand how modern apartment has been accepted and evaluated through people's living life in it. First, the discourse of living life was generated mostly by housewives through the comparison between apartment and traditional house. Second, the most influential aspect of apartment's popularization was the convenience of efficient housekeeping system by modern equipment and home appliance installed in apartment. This efficiency could allow housewives to perform various urban activities such as work, shopping, and simple going out. Third, the satisfaction from efficiency and privacy brought about a sense of alienation at the same time. As a result, the rapid proliferation of apartment in Korea could be attained not only by the institutional driving forces but through the fulfillments of Korean people's housing needs from modern everyday life.

This study focuses on the fact that the Korean traditional design application appears as one of the trends for a planning technique to express an apartment as a healthy, clean and environment-friendly dwelling recently. Focusing on this, this study tries to apply the characteristic of Han-Ok to an apartment unit plan more compositively beyond the fragmentary design application of existing preceding researches. To do this, the space organization, residential space and housing design elements of Han-Ok are deducted through preceding researches and case studies and proposes a plan by applying this to the apartment plan with a floor plan of about $132m^2$(40 pyeong). The apartment unit plan containing the characteristic of Han-Ok proposed in this study is planned based on the floor plan of about $132m^2$(40 pyeong) which is distributed the most in the city of Seoul. It has an advantage in terms that it can be individually applied not only when a construction firm progresses business anew carrying the banner for a Korean-style apartment but also an existing residents can apply through remodelling. Meanwhile, it has a limit that the diversified space sense and the advantage of an airy Han-Ok cannot be applied to many parts of the design due to the characteristic of an apartment of diverse height change. If a measure to secure constructability and economic feasibility while reflecting diverse differences of floor-level of an apartment can be prepared in follow-up researches, much more various advantages of Han-Ok can be put into the apartment design.

Recently, tower type apartment has been a main stream at the apartment market, in Korea. Tower type apartment has features that is easy to maintain a proper distance between apartment buildings, and to keep a prospect comparing to flat type apartment However, there is usually a inner curved area at tower type apartment, and it is able to make an unhealthy environment because of shaded area through a day and a bad air flow. In this study, the duration of sunshine and the exterior air flow environments are examined. As results, the duration of sunshine at the inner curved area of tower type apartment was extremely short, and the exterior air flow environment was very bad for the low air velocity of about 0.08m/s. Installing pilotis in the 1st floor which faces to the inner curved area makes the good improvement of exterior air flow environment.

As the consumer's consumption standard has raised, occupants' needs for the apartment is diversified and complicated. But the existing mass housing supply method has many problems and it couldn't satisfy the dwellers' various needs and overall expected life span. In order to correspond those needs, construction firms have introduced several method, such as plus option, minus option, on-time option, change up service and so on. The custom-built apartment is more supplementary and it can reflect the consumer's needs to the apartment directly. But after running the custom-built apartment, several problems is revealed. So. in this study, I defined the general idea of the custom-built apartment and then collect the case of the custom-built apartment.

In 2009, The Ministry of Land, Transport and Maritime Affairs, Korea opens apartment maintenance fee to public in "Apartment Management Info System". The high energy consumption component of apartment, which is hot water, water, electricity and heating, is released to public on this system. Through this system, apartment energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions data can be compiled and expected to be accurately analyzed. Energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions statistics of the apartment are collected being made to reduce energy and gas emissions. However, The accurate survey of energy consumption trends have not been accomplished. The energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions survey in Apartment should be made first in order to reduce energy consumption. and then the correlation factors analysis which is affecting energy consumption is required. The purpose of this study is to analyze energy consumption characteristics of apartment in Bundann-gu, Seongnam, Korea in monthly, unit area and building built year basis. And then the research can be used as the basis of policy to Reduce energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions.

Most of customer satisfaction researches that have announced by mass medium about an apartment house intend to do not fairly consider the premium of an apartment house. Thus, the researches offer the wrong information to a lots of companies and customers that want to objectively assess quality of an apartment house through comparing an apartment complex with another and construction ability of company. Therefore, this study analyzes that the premium of an apartment house affects customer satisfaction, derives indexes which affect premium of an apartment house, and do an importance analyses with each other. Then this study purposes to be of use with the foundation material for the objective index assessment of premium of an apartment house.

The effects of an apartment complex on flow and pollutant dispersion in an urban area are numerically investigated using a computational fluid dynamics (CFD) model. The CFD model is based on the Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes equations and includes the renormalization group k-${\varepsilon}$ turbulence model. The geographic information system (GIS) data is used as an input data of the CFD model. Eight numerical simulations are carried out for different inflow directions and, for each inflow direction, the effects of an apartment complex are investigated, comparing the characteristics of flow and dispersion before and after construction of the apartment complex in detail. The observation data of automatic weather system (AWS) is analyzed. The windrose analysis shows that the wind speed and direction after the construction of the complex are quite different from those before the construction. The construction of the apartment complex resulted in the decrease in wind speed at the downwind region. It is also shown that the wind speed increased partially inside the apartment complex due to the channeling effect to satisfy the mass continuity. On the whole, the wind speed decreased at the downwind region due to the drag effect by the apartment complex. As a result, the passive pollutant concentration increased (decreased) near the downwind region of (within) the apartment complex compared with that before the construction.

This paper aims to present basic data in order to improve the management of apartment house through grasping homemaker's concern about the management of apartment house satisfaction and dissatisfaction with it, and , furthermore, to suggest the best way to enjoy pleasent life of apartment house. The date collected through the questionnaire were analyzed, using the analysis of variance, chi square, and Pearson product moment correlation coefficient. The conclusion of this are as follows: 1) The homemakers are concerned with the management of apartment house, but they seem to dissatisfy with it. 2)The apartment house of the management of self-government contains may factors of dissatisfaction than of commission, expecially in the management of inside facilities. 3)When homemakers in the apartment house of the management of the self-government are very concerned with the management of the area, they are satisfied with. For the management of it's facilities, however, the more they show concerns with it, the less they satisfy with it. But for the case of the management of commission, they are interested in the management of inhabitants and satisfied with it. 4) The homemakers in the apartment house of the self-government are satisfied with the management of the whole if they gave friendship and trust on the manger, and get accustomed the life of the apartment house and enjoy it. While those who have friendship and trust on the manger in the management of commission have concern and satisfaction with the management.

The purpose of this study is to advance apartment houses in quality as a residence through revitalization of tradition and the procedures are as follows: The first procedure is theoretical contemplation. The second procedure is analysis of the traditional residential space that gives a starting point of introspection of it without cease at the stage of formal following or pattern application in revitalizing tradition in the apartment houses. And the third procedure is to select and suggest aspects applicable to developing Korean style apartment houses. The suggest is embodied by a plane figure of 55 pyong type apartment house after selecting the concrete development aspects with approaches such as arrangement and interior space analysis, behavior analysis and space division and design analysis. This study has its meaning in that it suggests a possibility of various approaches other than formal following or pattern application in revitalizing tradition in a new Korean type apartment house, that it gives another selection to diversifying consumers' patterns and that it helps recognize and develop our tradition in this age of cultural nationalism.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the correlation between the affective responses and residents' satisfaction in apartment housing estates. This study was conducted to empirically identify the effect of physical contents of apartment buildings on the affective response and satisfaction of residents. The area for evaluation was limited to four apartment buildings in Daegu, and the subjects for evaluation were also limited to a group of residents living at the four apartment buildings. SPSSWIN, a statistical program was used for analysis.
