  • Extension service in Korea has radical changes in accordance with local autonomy acts, 1994, and reformed rural development acts, 1995. According to these acts, the role of the central government is to arrange local extension service carried out by local extension office, to present basic plans on technical knowledge diffusion or farmers training to local government, and so on. Local extension office is a part of local government, and extension service is commited to the local government.

  • Variability of active galactic nuclei is now a well-known phenomenon. This remains to be fully explained by a theoretical model of the central engine. Time scales of AGN variability seem to range continuously from hours up to months. The short time scale variability must be related to the phenomena on the event horizon of the black hole, while the long one to those in the accretion disk or surrounding matter. Based on the axisymmetric, nonstationary model of the central engine, we discuss theoretical considerations on the variability of active galactic nucleus.

  • An axisymmetric, stationary electrodynamic model of the central engine of an active galactic nucleus has been well formulated by Macdonald and Thorne. In this model the relativistic region around the central black hole must be filled by highly conducting plasma. We analyze plasma wave propagation in this region and discuss the results. We find that the ionosphere cannot exist right outside of the event horizon of the black hole. Another interesting aspect is that certain resonance phenomena can occur in this case.

  • We report the selective area bandgap tuning of multiple quantum well structures by an impurity free vacancy induced quantum well intermixing technique. A 3dB waveguide directional coupler was fabricated in the disordered section of an intermixed quantum well sample as a demonstration of photonic device applications.

  • Bauxite is the principal raw material to produce alumina. Bauxite mining industry has grown gradually due to the rising demand for alumina. U.S Geological Surveys (USGS 2018) estimates the world's reserves of bauxite roughly 55-75 billion tonnes. Vietnam holds up to 3.7 billion tonnes, the third after Guinea and Australia. Most of bauxite reserves are located in Tay Nguyen (Central Highlands), and have only been minimally mined to date. The approved master plan in 2007 of the Government of Vietnam licenses bauxite mining and alumina production projects in Central Highlands through six projects until 2025. These projects constitute many potentially enormous economic, social and environmental impacts.

  • The number of fabrication shop for spherical type LNG tank is proportional to that of the tank radius to be constructed. Due to limitation of facility investment including building sites, it is practically difficult to fabricate various size tanks with perfectly spherical shape in the yards. The efficient method to be capable of increasing cargo tank volume is to extend vertically the conventional spherical type LNG tank by inserting a cylindrical shell structure. The main purpose of this study is to derive related equations on forces generated on spherical type LNG tank with central cylindrical part under various static loadings in order to establish the simplified analysis method for the initial estimate. In this study, equations on circumferential and meridional force have been derived and verified by relations with the reaction forces per unit length of equator.

  • The operational conditions such as cooling tower water pump flow rate, cooling tower fan flow rate, and chiller capacity in heat source equipment, and supply air temperature and chilled water temperature in air conditioner are considered to study the effects on energy consumption for central cooling system by using TRNSYS program. As a result, the optimal values of supply air temperature and chilled water temperature for minimal total energy consumption are 12℃ and 8℃. And if maximum values of cooling tower water pump and fan flow rate is decreased from 100% to 40%, energy consumptions are increased 170MJ/day and 63.2MJ/day, respectively.

  • This study aimed at analysing on consumer's behaviour to central functions in center villages of Hub-myun. Consumers in the center villages were classified as follows; residents in the center village and in the hinterland area, visitors. Through the interview works on the customers in 8-pilot project sites and differential analysis works of answered results, consumers' attitude in the center villages were grouped into two types; self-sufficient one and higher center-dependent one.

  • Mining of association rules is to find associations among data items that appear together in some transactions or business activities. As of today, algorithms for association rule mining, as well as for other data mining tasks, are mostly applied to relational databases. As XML being adopted as the universal format for data storage and exchange, mining associations from XML data becomes an area of attention for researchers and developers. The challenge is that the semi-structured data format in XML is not directly suitable for traditional data mining algorithms and tools. In this paper we present an encoding method to encode XML tree-nodes. This method is used to store the XML data in Value Table and Transaction Table that can be easily accessed via indexing. The hierarchical relationship in the original XML tree structure is embedded in the encoding. We applied this method to association rules mining of XML data that may have missing data.

  • Solving the disclosure problem of sensitive information with the k-nearest neighbor query, location dummy technique, or interfering data in location-based services (LBSs) is a new research topic. Although they reduced security threats, previous studies will be ineffective in the case of sparse users or K-successive privacy, and additional calculations will deteriorate the performance of LBS application systems. Therefore, a model is proposed herein, which is based on geohash-encoding technology instead of latitude and longitude, memcached server cluster, encryption and decryption, and authentication. Simulation results based on PHP and MySQL show that the model offers approximately 10× speedup over the conventional approach. Two problems are solved using the model: sensitive information in LBS application is not disclosed, and the relationship between an individual and a track is not leaked.
