A Comparison Study on the Fire Detection Technology for Buildings and Ships (육상용과 선박용 화재감지기술의 비교연구)

  • 본 논문은 육상에서 사용되는 화재감지기술과 선박에서 사용되는 화재감지기술의 차이점과 육상용과 선박용 화재감지기 성능시험방법을 비교한 연구이다. 화재감지기술은 비화재보나 오동작을 개선하는 방향으로 발전해 왔다. 육상용 화재감지기는 건물에서 통상적으로 발생할 수 있는 비화재보 요인에 의한 비화재보나 오동작을 방지할 수 있어야 하고, 선박용 화재감지기의 경우에는 염분이 높은 환경에서 사용되는 특성상 염분에 의해 화재감지기가 오동작 또는 비화재보를 발생시키지 않는 구조로 설계되어야 한다. 본 연구에서는 건물에 설치되는 육상용 화재감지기의 최신 발전 방향을 소개하고 선박에서 발생할 수 있는 화재를 조기에 감지할 수 있는 화재감지기술을 고찰하였다.

  • To improve the fire safety of ships, it is required to prepare the systematic design guideline for fire protection and the way of assessing fire characteristics quantitatively. The introduction of simulation technique based on fire engineering is useful to assess fire safety performance quantitatively. Fire simulation tools are currently developing with U.S.A., Europe and Japan as a leader. Most of current fire simulation tools were developed for building or inland structure. Therefore it is required validation process and development of data base to apply maritime environments. In this paper, I/O parameters of simulation tools such as CFAST and BRI2002 of zone model and FDS and KFX of field model analysed, and designed data base considering maritime environment. The fire simulation for the pool fire model of engine room and its adjacent compartments is performed and evaluated the results.

  • 건물의 고도화, 복합화 되고 있는 현시대에 화재시의 인명안전을 위하여 피난 및 소화기술의 발전은 더욱 강조되어 재해대책의 기술의 발전이 필요하다. 또한 소방법의 개정으로 인하여 스프링클러를 비롯한 소방설비의 수요가 늘어날 것으로 전망되어진다. 그러나 기존의 소방설비는 많은 공간을 차지하게 되어 층간높이에 영향을 크게 미치는 단점을 가지고 있었다. 본 논문에서는 화재진압설비를 기존의 공조시스템과의 결합을 통해 설치비용의 감소와 함께 공간 절감을 꾀하기 위한 적절한 공조설비의 선택을 위한 연구를 진행하고자 한다.

  • 국제사회의 할론계 소화약제 사용규제가 본격화 되면서 차세대 소화약제에 대한 개발은 시급한 사안으로 다가왔다. 그중에서도 청정소화약제에 해당하는 가스계 소화약제의 개발은 상당히 진척되었으며, 가스계 소화약제의 소화성능에 관한 평가는 화재발생시 인명과 재산상의 손실을 최소화하기 위한 중요한 평가요소이다. 본 연구는 기존의 이산화탄소 소화약제와 새로운 형태의 소화약제인 Novec의 소화성능을 비교 평가하기 위해서 Cup Burner Test를 이용하여 실험을 행하였으며, 에탄올, 노르말헵탄, 톨루엔과 가솔린을 원료하여 실험한 결과 Nocvec의 소화성능이 이산화탄소 소화약제보다 우수한 것으로 나타났다.

The study on performance evaluation of heat resistance and smoke control system using air-curtain system in tunnel (터널용 에어커튼 시스템의 내열 및 제연 성능 평가 연구)

  • Tunnel is a semi-closed structure similar to underground space where the smoke generated from fire fills the space fast while escaping from the space slow. Because of such characteristics, when the fire breaks out by traffic accident, the vehicles are jammed making it difficult for the people to evacuate from the scene as well as for the fire engine to gain access to the scene. For such reasons, tunnels are globally categorized into some disaster classes for differentiated facilities and operation approaches. In Korea, less than a 1 km-long tunnel accounts for 80.0% and such a short tunnel which is categorized into Class III is not required to have smoke control system. In this study, a full-scale fire test was conducted in a bid to apply air curtain system using heat-resistant sirocco fan to a less than 1 km-long tunnel. To that end, heat resistance test to verify the normal operation at $250^{\circ}C$ for 60 minutes was conducted. Consequently, despite of rapid rising-temperature and increasing-carbon dioxide inside the air curtain (direction of fire in tunnel), initial condition was found to have been sustained outside the air curtain (opposite direction of fire in tunnel).

Simulation of Heat and Smoke Behavior for Wood and Subway Fires by Fire Dynamics Simulator(FDS) (FDS에 의한 목재 및 지하철 화재의 열 및 연기 거동 시뮬레이션)

  • In this study, to propose the analysis method of heat and smoke behavior of fire using the CFD-based fire simulator FDS, comparison of the simulation results against the experimental results and the sensitivity of the results to the grid sizes have been investigated. For the wood fire, thermal images captured from the experiments were compared against the FDS simulations, and the maximum temperatures agreed in~4.3 % error, showing the applicability of FDS in the interpretation of the fire phenomena. In the aspect of the sensitivity to the grid size for the subway fire, FDS results of smoke temperature, CO concentration and visibility converged and showed no distinct changes for the grid size < $28(L){\times}28(W){\times}14(H)$, guaranteeing that the FDS fire model set in this research could interpret the fire phenomena successfully.

A Study on the Improvement of Performance Standard and Classification for the Firestop Accreditation System (내화충전구조 인정제도의 성능기준 및 등급분류 개선에 관한 연구)

  • The fire compartments with fire-resistant construction are installed in the principal structural parts of a building in order to reduce damage in the event of a building fire. As a fire may spread through a crack in the fire compartment, the firestop with secured performance is used according to the procedure, methods, and standards specified in the detailed operation guideline. According to the current detailed operation guideline, vertical members (wall penetration) and horizontal members (floor penetration) are classified into different categories respective to each other for the classification of the firestop. Therefore, an accreditation applicant must apply for the performance test for each structure even if the wall and the floor have the same structure. Also, Grade T is used for the firestop that penetrates the fire compartment. However, in the case of foreign countries, the use of Grade F for the firestop is allowed even if it penetrates the fire compartment. The result of the precedent studies also showed that there was a significantly low possibility of fire to spread even if Grade F was applied for a metallic duct that penetrated the fire compartment. In this study, the improved scheme for the classification and performance standard of firestops was presented by analyzing the results of precedent studies regarding the firestop and domestic and overseas firestop qualification systems.

A Study on Measuring of Fire Extinguishing Concentration for Organic Material Using Novec (노벡을 이용한 유기물의 소화농도 측정에 관한 연구)

  • This study was on basic step to develop a good clean extinguishing agent. In order to get a satisfactory result, we tested fire extinguishing ability using Novec which is inert gas. In study used to Cup Burner Test its made by international standard ISO-14520 regulations of gaseous extinguishing agent ability test. The finding is that a new clean agent, Novec has a very efficient extinguishing ability in a state of gas.
