Energy Flow Finite Element Analysis for High Frequency Acoustic and Vibrational Prediction of Complicated Plate Structures Considering Fluid-Structure Interaction (복합평판구조물의 고주파수 대역 유체/구조 연성 소음진동예측을 위한 에너지흐름유한요소해석)

  • In this paper, the Energy Flow Finite Element Analysis (EFFEA) was performed to predict the acoustic and vibrational responses of complicated plate structures considering improved Fluid-Structure Interaction (FSI). For this, a new power transfer relationship was derived at the area junction where two different fluids are in contact on both sides of the plate. In order to increase the reliability of EFFEA of complicated plate structures immersed in a high-density fluid, the corrected flexural wavenumber and group velocity considering fluid-loading effect were derived. As the specific acoustic impedance of the fluid in contact with the plate increases, the flexural wavenumber of the plate increases. As a result, the flexural group velocity is reduced, and the spatial damping effect of the flexural energy density is increased. Additionally, for the EFFEA of arbitary-shaped built-up structures, the energy flow finite element formulation for the acoustic tetrahedral element was newly performed. Finally, for validation of the derived theory and developed software, numerical applications of complicated plate structures submerged in seawater or air were successfully performed.

Psychometric Properties of the Empathetic School Community Competency Inventory

  • The present study aimed to develop a self-reported measurement instrument - the Empathetic School Community Competency Inventory (ESCCI)-to better understand members' empathetic sense to schools as their community in the context of secondary schools in South Korea. Based on a synthesis of the literature on the school community, empathy, and competencies, and a series of preliminary analyses with a panel of expert judges and pilot tests, initial ESCCI items were developed. In total, 435 students and 134 teachers from secondary schools in South Korea provided usable data as measured by the ESCCI. The results of EFA and CFA suggested a five-factor model: culture of respect ( α = .94), empathetic community identity ( α = .93), communication structure (α = .91), emotion immersion (α = .91), and caring process (α =.89) with χ2 (980, n = 285) = 3080.169; p-value < .0001, RMSEA = 0.068; 90% CI [.059, .064], p-value < .0001; CFI = .88; SRMR = 0.04; and TLI = .88, leaving 46 items out of initially developed 76 items. The ESCCI model developed based on the findings of the study can be used to assess schools' competency as an empathetic community and design programs to promote empathetic school cultures in secondary schools in South Korea. Implications and limitations of the study are discussed.

Effects of Flow Direction and Consolidation Pressure on Hydraulic Resistance Capacity of Soils (흐름방향과 압밀응력이 지반의 수리저항특성에 미치는 영향)

  • Big tidal differences, which range from 3.0 m to 8.0 m, exist with regional locations at south and west shores of Korea. Under this ocean circumstance, since a large scour may occur due to multi-directional tidal current and transverse stress of the wind, the scour surrounding the wind turbine structure can make instability of the system due to unexpected system vibration. The hydraulic resistance capacity of soils consolidated under different pressures are evaluated by Erosion Function Apparatus (EFA) under unidirectional and bi-directional flows in this study. It was found that the flow direction change affects significantly on the sour rate and critical shear stress, regardless of soil types while the consolidation pressure affects mainly cohesive soil. Among geotechnical parameters, the undrained shear strength can be well-correlated with the hydraulic resistance capacity, regardless soil type while the shear wave velocity shows the proportional relationships with the hydraulic resistance capacities of fine grained soil and coarse grained soil, respectively.

Verification for Structural Modeling between Servant and Transformational Leadership, Organizational Citizenship Behavior, and Organizational Performance of Private Security Organizations (민간경비 조직의 서번트・변혁적 리더십, 조직시민행동, 조직성과 간의 구조모형 검증)

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the structural model between servant - transformational leadership, organizational citizenship behavior and organizational performance of private security organizations. The security guards working in private security companies in Seoul and Gyeonggi - do were selected as population, random sampling method. The survey was conducted from September 1, 2016 to November 30. Accoridng to the purpose of the study, this study conducted factor analysis(EFA/CFA), reliability analysis, convergence and discriminant validity analysis, and covariance structure analysis using SPSSWIN 21.0 and AMOS 21.0. The conclusions of this study are as follows. First, servant leadership has a positive (+) effect (${\beta}=.406$) on organizational citizenship behavior statistically at .001 level. Second, transformational leadership has a positive (+) effect (${\beta}=.373$) on organizational citizenship behavior statistically at .001 level. Third, organizational citizenship behavior has a positive (+) effect (${\beta}=.615$) on organizational performance statistically at .01 level. Fourth, servant leadership does not affect the organizational performance statistically (${\beta}=.211$). Fifth, transformational leadership does not affect the organizational performance statistically (${\beta}=.058$). Sixth, organizational citizenship behavior has statistically positive (+) mediation effect (${\beta}=.249$) in the relationship between servant leadership and organizational performance. Seventh, organizational citizenship behavior has statistically positive (+) mediating effects (${\beta}=.230$) on the relationship between transformational leadership and organizational performance. The Reliability and Validity of Korean Version of the Interdisciplinary Education Perception Scale(K-IEPS) (한국어판 전문직 간 교육에 대한 인식 측정도구의 신뢰도와 타당도 검증)

  • This research aims to adapt and evaluate the validity and reliability of the Korean version of the Interdisciplinary Education Perception Scale (K-IEPS). The original IEPS was translated into Korean according to the World Health Organization's guidelines. A total of 302 questionnaires were collected from healthcare professional students at 4 universities in South Korea. The validity and reliability of the scale were measured using Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA), Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA), Cronbach's alpha, and Intraclass Correlation Coefficient (ICC). As a result of the factor analysis, a ten-item scale with two factors (Competency & Autonomy and Perception of Actual Cooperation) was achieved. Additionally, the Cronbach's alpha coefficient was found to be .87, and test-retest reliability was .83. Our study results show that the Korean version of the IEPS is a valid and reliable instrument. Therefore, the K-IEPS can be used in measuring interdisciplinary perceptions of healthcare professional students between different occupational groups.

Cultural characteristics of Korean interpersonal relationships and scale development - affective relationships (한국인 인간관계의 문화적 특성과 척도개발 - 온정적 인간관계)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the cultural characteristics of Korean interpersonal relationships. A total of 45 preliminary items were selected through book and literature review about the characteristics of the Korean or Korean society in study 1. The first survey data were collected from the Korean university students. Through the item analysis and Exploratory Factor Analysis(EFA), 4 factors composed of 32 items were extracted. Four factors were found: 'friendly attitude, harmony, jeong(interpersonal affection), keeping relationship', and using content analysis, 20 items were refined. Study 2 was conducted with the data collected from the Korea adults. As the result of carrying out EFA and Confirmatory Factor Analysis(CFA), the final 17 items were fixed as an affective relationships scale of the Korean. And CFA were implemented to evaluate discriminative validity. Finally, the implications and limitations of this study were discussed.

  • The purpose of this study is to explore how use motivation of SNS influences communication activity and SNS media engagement. The major findings are as follows. First, three Factors are identified from the result of scale purification through exploratory factor analysis(EFA) on use motivation of SNS. Three factors of SNS use motivation are information/knowledge acquisition motivation (IKAM), communication/relationship maintaining motivation(CRMM), opinion/information presenting motivation(OIPM). It is found that a significant difference on CRMM between sex. Second, CRMM and OIPM are statistically significant to communication activity. Third, IKAM and CRMM are statistically significant to SNS media engagement.

Do Retail Regulations Protect Traditional Markets as Well as Independent Stores in Korea?

  • Purpose -This study is to measure the effects of retail legislations on small retailers and traditional markets. Research Design, Data, and Methodology - The authors have developed a questionnaire with five hypotheses on the basis of previous research results and six constructs: the improvement of sales volume, the number of customers, the improvement of store traffic, the increase of store staff, business expansion and retail regulation. Furthermore, the research has adopted a five-point Likert-scale technique. In order to increase research reliability as well as validity, the authors have adopted a few different research techniques such as exploratory factor analysis (EFA) and confirmatory factor analysis (CFA). Results - Although existing retail regulations might be better than nothing for now, the degree of retail constraints on large retailers should be strengthened. Furthermore, different legal methods to protect mom and pops are needed. Conclusions - In order to improve the effects of retail restrictions on large retailers, the research indicates that the central government should change a retail policy, that is, introduce new technical ways to keep mom and pops and conventional markets.

A study of consumer ethnocentrism and animosity about visual arts products: Response of Chinese consumers to Korean products (시각예술제품에 대한 소비자 자민족중심주의와 적대감 관련 연구: 한국 제품에 대한 중국 소비자의 반응)

  • This research aims to study the effect of consumer ethnocentrism and animosity towards the purchase of Korean visual arts products by Chinese consumers. Total of 302 questionnaires were distributed for measuring the constructs using the online survey website (www.sojump.com). All the questionnaires were validated and tested for further statistical analysis through exploratory factor analysis (EFA) and later a confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) using SPSS 22.0 and AMOS 22.0 statistical systems. In addition, structural equation modeling technique (SEM) was applied for testing the hypotheses. Among all variables, consumer ethnocentrism plays the most negatively significant role, followed by animosity toward buying Korean products. Fortunately, there is a positive variable, cosmopolitanism, that can help mitigate the impact of this hostility, and more interesting results are described in detail in the current paper. This study has been added value between theory and practice exploring ethnocentrism and animosity effects, and more theoretical and managerial implications are discussed.

A Study on the Process of Non-regular Workers' Utilization on Firm Performance: The Mediating Effect of Employee Competence (비정규직 활용이 기업성과에 미치는 과정에 대한 연구: 종업원 역량의 매개효과)

  • Purpose - The purpose of this study was to examine the mediating effect of employee competence on the relationship between the utilization of non-regular workers and firm performance. Design/methodology/approach - This study utilized 427 firm level data from HCCP. The Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) and the multiple regression analysis were conducted to verify the hypotheses. Findings - We found that the utilization of non-regular workers is not significantly related to firm performance. However, the utilization of non-regular workers had a negative relationship with employee competence, and that employee competence mediated the relationship between the utilization of non-regular workers and firm performance. Research implications or Originality - As environmental uncertainty and competition between firms intensify, more and more firms are utilizing non-regular workers. Research on the relationship between the utilization of non-regular workers and firm performance is continuously conducted, but research on the process of explaining the specific relationship between them is still insufficient. Our study contributes the related research area by identifying the mediating role of employee competence on the utilization of non-regular workers and firm performance relationship.
