In general, the intuitive knowledge that can use in mathematics problem solving is one of the important knowledge to teachers as well as students. So, this study is aimed to analyze the elementary preservice teachers' intuitive knowledge in relation to intuitive and counter-intuitive problem solving. For this, I performed survey to use questionnaire consisting of problems that can solve in intuitive methods and cause the errors by counter-intuitive methods. 161 preservice teachers participated in this study. I got the conclusion as follows. preservice teachers' intuitive problem solving ability is very low. I special, many preservice teachers preferred algorithmic problem solving to intuitive problem solving. So, it's needed to try to improve preservice teachers' problem solving ability via ensuring both the quality and quantity of problem solving education during preservice training courses. Many preservice teachers showed errors with incomplete knowledges or intuitive judges in counter-intuitive problem solving process. For improving preservice teachers' intuitive problem solving ability, we have to develop the teacher education curriculum and materials for preservice teachers to go through intuitive mathematical problem solving. Add to this, we will strive to improve preservice teachers' interest about mathematics itself and value of mathematics.
This study was conducted to elucidate the interactions among soil microorganisms in a special field where one, two or three of N, P, K fertilizers were continuously not applied for 29 years. Crop yield (barley, soybean), soil chemical properties and microflora and microfauna including nematodes, nematophagous fungi, actinomycetes, bacteria, and fungi were examined for two years. Tylenchorhynchus sp. was the most important plant-parasitic nematode (range $11{\sim}642/300 cm^3$ soil) followed by Pratylenchus sp. and Helicotylenchus sp. Among nematophagous fungi, Monacrosporium spp. was the most frequently found followed by Harposporium sp. and Cystopage sp. In general, plots treated with phosphate fertilizer yielded more, had more nematodes, bacteria and actinomycetes. In contrast, total fungal population densities including nematophagous fungi, Cystopage sp. and Harposporium sp. were in reverse; they were more abundant in the plots with lower phosphate contents. Phosphate and pH are positively correlated and two most important determining factors for the population density of soil organisms under investigation. According to correlation analysis, Ca, Mg, and $SiO_2$ contents in soil and population densities of Tylenchorhynchus sp., saprophitic nematodes, actinomycetes, and bacteria were positively correlated with pH, but were negatively correlated with fungal population densities. We hope that the study will add an additional knowledges to understand our mysterious underworld.
This empirical study is to explain critical success factors for building effective regional IT cluster from the literature reviews which have some limitations, and is to suggest new key factors from the views of Regional Innovation System and Sectoral Systems of Innovation. For building successful cluster, the new key factors not only stress on regional networks, the spill-over of tacit knowledge through learning by interacting, institutions which contain regional custom, norms, established practices, culture, and characteristics from the Regional Innovation System, but also emphasize on heterogeneous agents who are interacting by each others from Sectoral Systems of Innovation. From these factors we suggest some strategies for building effective "Daegu IT Cluster" as following; making characterized IT brands which are selected and concentrated based on regional and IT sectoral characteristics, strengthening learning competence of tacit knowledge built in multiple heterogeneous agents network, establishing strong agent networks which are composed of universities, companies, institutes and government, and sharing the institution of mind-opening culture in order to correspond with environmental changes and link to other industrial clusters. By putting above strategies in force, the compatabilities of Daegu region are reinforced. Tacit knowledges spill over and the regional innovation competence are accumulated. Also IT cluster plays core role of employment in Daegu for long term. Especially, "Daegu IT Cluster" changes city's image from medium and small manufacturing city to new industrial city based on high technologies.
As a commemorative joint survey for the 20th anniversary of the Korean Society of Systematic Zoology, molluscan fauna of Jindo Island was investigated from the materials collected from 3 localities of Jindo Island from 29th to 30th of June, 2004. A total of 77 species of 37 families were identified. Among them, 26 species of 18 families are reported for the first time in this area, including Onchidella kurodai (Taki, 1935) that is new to Korean fauna. For O. kurodai, external morphologies were described in detail with illustrations. Combining the present data with those of the previous works revealed that a total of 115 species from 43 families have been recorded in Jindo Island and its adjacent areas thus far. From a biogeographic point of view, some gastropod species (Bittium craticulatum, Mocroschisma dilatatum, Cantharidus japonicus, C. callichroa, Homalopoma sangarense, and Crepidula onyx) encountered from Jindo Island were the species previously recorded in the southern and/or eastern offshores of Korean peninsula, including Jeju Island (Choe, 1992). Along with the fact that Jindo Island contains a large number of molluscan species ranging over the Yellow Sea coast, this finding is another line of evidence supporting the Kim and Kwon (1983)'s idea that this area is an overtopping zone of marine organisms which dwell in both the Yellow sea and southern part of Korean sea waters. No comprehensive faunistic survey was not made in the present study. We expect that further supplementary study would generate more biogeographic and faunistic knowledges than what we understand through the present study.
The purpose of this study is to compare and analyze the perceptions of TPACK for mathematics teachers who practice the technology-using lessons. In addition, by looking at the part where the perception is expressed in the actual class and the part where the difference of recognition can be revealed, it is possible to provide the direction to teachers who want to practice the technology-using lessons in the future. To do this, two mathematics teachers were selected using purposeful sampling. And we conducted research study and interview in order to analyze the characteristics of the teacher's general background and TPACK recognition, and we analyzed the video, the class materials, and the interview contents for teaching practices from the perspective of TPACK. As a result, the two mathematics teachers practicing the technology-using lessons were connected with the actual class situation focusing on the sub-knowledges of TPACK recognizes as having a lot of them. In addition, technology-based lessons were able to confirm that the functional capabilities of technology alone were not sufficient conditions to lead effective instruction. Finally, teaching method using technology has been confirmed that experience-based field practice can be more important than simply knowing mathematics content, technology, teaching method. Based on the results of this study, it is possible not only to provide methodological guidance to teachers who practice the technology-based instruction, but also to suggest the direction of TPACK research or the development of teacher training program in the future.
The purpose of this study are to develop the TEP activity for learning experimental apparatus at elementary school and to test the effects of the TEP activity. This study consists of two steps. First through literature research on the difficulties and needs of experimental apparatus education developed the form that how to educate the experimental apparatus at elementary school. Second, applied the TEP activity and figured out the effects as two aspect(knowledge about experimental apparatus and actual using skill during lesson). This worksheet was applied to 3rd grade students in elementary school about 4 experimental apparatuses(Beaker, Electronic scale, Glass rod, Spatula). The results of this study are as follows: There is no specific time to teach what is and how to use experimental apparatus by regular curriculum. So many students and teachers need method and time to learn them. Also they want to lots of opportunities to use them. With that needs given previously, TEP activity developed by 3 steps. 1. Trigger interest 2. Explore experimental apparatus: learned knowledges about experimental apparatus focused on appearance(name, purpose, directions for use, precautions) 3. Practice experimental apparatus: actual using time to acquire skills. After that did the survey of knowledge and observation of students' behavior during usual class to confirm the effects. According to the results, TEP activity helped the students to improve there awareness of the experimental apparatus and actual using skills.
What this study aims is to analyze that how the stories of Prince Hodong are represented in modern historical fictions. The stories have been reproduced in many forms such as TV dramas, films, fictions, plays. It can be depicted that the narratives are indeed national and popular. Interestingly, however, the description of Hodong has not been found in pre-modern documents or fictions. The story began to appear and became popular in 1935 by Yoon Baek Nam. It can be explained that the narratives are the one of the example of the invented tradition since it became visible in modern period. Yoon, Lee Tae Joon, and Yu Chi Jin have constructed the character of Hodong what we are familiar with. Yoon depicted Hodong as a romatic lover with the motif of a lovers suicide. Lee and Yu put a context of nationalism by explaining Nakrang as a Nakrangkun of Hansagun(the four colonies of China). These are pure invention of the writers which cannot be found in The History of Three Kingdoms(三國史記). These characters are closely related with the surrounding of their own society. Yoon shows how the past can be seen as a nostalgic object by modern aesthetic perspective. Lee illustrates the ambiguous thought of a colonial intellectual who (anti)internalizes the ideology of militarism. Yu tries to find the way to recover the muscularity of the nation by re-colouring the memory of the past. These, the representations created in various contexts, make our common knowledges of Prince Hodong nowadays.
This thesis investigates the cultural meanings of the first optical instrument, Camera obscura, in the pre-modern age, while it explains the development as well as the use of the Camera obscura in Europe and Korea. For this purpose the thesis traces the significant phases of the historical developments of the Camera obscura from L. da Vinci, G. B. della Porta, D. Barbaro, A. Kircher to J. Zahn etc. The Camera obscura was not only the symbolic instrument of the modernism in the sense that human being wanted to observe the outer world by himself and to be freed from the viewpoint of the christianity, but also was the forerunner of the modern visual culture, because it first time reproduced the artificial image of the natural world. Since the second half of the 17th century the box-type reflex Camera obscura had been produced, it began to be used as aid to drawing for painters like J. Vermeer, A. Canaletto and J. Reynolds etc. throughout Europe. It tells the evidence of the close relation between art and technology in the pre-modern age. Around the end of the 18th century the Camera obscura was brought to Korea, the closed country of the Fareast, by the scholars of the so-called 'Realist school' (Silhak-pa) who went to Beijing to acquire knowledges on the Western science from the European priests. In 1780s Yak-yong JUNG, one of the representative scholars of the Realist school, experimented the Camera obscura, and then, it was used for sketches of higher aristocrats' portraits by the supreme portrait painter of that time, Myoung-ki LEE. Those were possible only under the reign of the culturally liberal and reformative King, Jung-jo (ruled 1776-1800), and after his retreatment the inquiry of the Camera obscura had been dimished. It is not a historical coincidence that the Camera obscura could be examined and used in the period of the Enlightment both in Europe and Korea.
This article examines the process of how Daesoon thought keeps its own identity while being practiced as a religion in Korean culture through the perspective of theological hermeneutics of E. Schillebeeckx, a representative theologian in 20th century, especially on the centering of the matter of experience. Schillebeeckx says that an experience is an occurrence of perception by encountering something different from oneself. According to him, 1) the occurrence of perception is premised on a framework or form of interpretation which prescribes experience as the experience in the perceptive dimension. 2) A framework of interpretation is subject to pre-existing system or structure which already has formed a basis to the experience. It consists of various interpretative elements such as social form, general knowledges, various experiences, theoretical models in their society, etc.. 3) The experiences take place in the reflection of contemporary situation, and it is understood by a society, thus making it a social stream. This experience is expressed historically, gains historicity in the process of being handed down from person to person, from generation to generation. In this way, an experience starts to form a tradition. 4) The tradition is a historical stream which gives rise to, admits, and integrates various experiences, religious revelation, and faith etc. In this way, the tradition as a historical stream becomes a field of religious actuality such as revelation, salvation, etc. Conclusively, a religion takes place, is formed, only when it is understood anew by the people who live in that cultural tradition through their languages. The ground Daesoon thought takes place, is formed, is in this way. Daesoon thought takes place in the core of traditional Korean culture, undergoes changes when it encounters the other stream of traditional Korean culture, and the vice versa. Because of this inevitable change, ironically enough, Daesoon thought can maintain its own identity as Daesoon thought, and Korean culture its own identity as Korean culture, avoiding falling into the tertiary which is neither Daesoon thought nor Korean culture. It is in this way that any religion can be in the faithfulness to its starting point to be enriched and transformed in its interaction with the other tradition. At here is the reason Daesoon thought has to have an openness to the changing world.

This study investigates the garden vision of the Ancient Rome, focusing on garden literature in the Natural History by Pliny the Elder. Ancient Roman garden's types, character, and forms greatly influenced the development of later Western gardens, to which the practical and professional texts of Pliny the Elder and others contributed. This study explores the garden visions projected in these texts, with an introduction of Roman garden forms and stylistic features. The Natural History and other garden and agricultural texts written during the Ancient Roman period are characterized by their focus on practical production spaces rather than abstract nature or garden art. In the Natural History, Pliny described botanics in terms of usefulness rather than pleasure, and his discussion is premised on the practical hortus. In ancient Roman society, gardens were not only spaces for practical production and relaxation, and places to reproduce or realize the ideals of Roman rulers and intellectuals, including Pliny. They shared the episteme that sought to encompass knowledge of the entire world they ruled and, in doing so, realize their vision of the Roman Empire. Through the Natural History, Pliny sought to embrace useful knowledges of his time into the vast civilized world of the Roman Empire, and the garden was an important place to practice this ideal.
