A number of practices for sharing knowledge has been recommended in the literature. These practices, however, are considered to be applicable, universally. This assumption is challenged by this paper which empirically explores the relationship between national culture and knowledge sharing practices in the context of procuring educational buildings in Saudi Arabia. The paper reports on a research study with the aim to identify whether national culture dimensions could be significant variables that impact upon staff preferences in relation to project knowledge sharing practices. The paper critically reviews the literature to identify appropriate measures for knowledge sharing practices. It explores the means by which public sectors professional exchange project knowledge; evaluates policies and level of technical support needed to facilitate knowledge sharing, then proceeds to how employees perceive the benefits they will gain by practicing project knowledge sharing, and their role in this process. The paper tests the relationships among the research constructs based on data collected from 115 project managers responsible for the procurement of educational buildings in Saudi Arabia. The paper provides empirical evidence that the national culture has a significant influence on staff preferences. In light of the research findings the paper concludes with practical recommendations for project knowledge sharing practices that are in line with staff preferences and their cultural orientation. The recommendations should facilitate a more effective application of knowledge sharing practices.
Knowledge management is considered an important factor for competitive advantage and sustainability for firms. As many knowledge management systems failed to achieve the desired results, enterprise social media (ESM) has received considerable attention as an alternative solution for knowledge sharing within a firm. This paper attempts to investigate the influence of various aspects of ESM on knowledge sharing. While previous literature mainly focused on structural aspects of ESM, this study focuses on social psychological aspects, such as social connectedness, social awareness, and social presence, along with reputational aspects (such as self-presentation). Further, in order to clarify knowledge sharing behavior, this study classifies knowledge sharing behavior into two categories, knowledge contribution and knowledge acquisition. The data used in this study was collected from 179 individuals who have experience in their own ESM. The results show that both social connectedness and self-presentation positively influence the two types of knowledge sharing behavior, i.e., acquisition and contribution. Meanwhile, social awareness turns out to be a significant determinant of knowledge contribution only. Contrary to our expectations, however, social presence does not significantly influence knowledge sharing behavior.

One of the major goals of using knowledge management systems(KMS) is the sharing of knowledge. The intent of an individual to share his/her knowledge plays a crucial role in sharing quality knowledge in corporations. However, there is little research that addresses this relationship between the intent to share and the use of KMS both from a holistic perspective and with empirical data analyses. To understand major factors that affect both knowledge sharing intent and the use of KMS, we conducted a field study from eight companies in four different industries which had been using KMS for at least a year. Using confirmatory factor analysis and structured equation modeling techniques, we have analyzed the relationships among top management support, trust among peers, trust in the organizational hierarchy, incentives and rewards, knowledge-sharing intent, KMS quality, knowledge quality, and the use of KMS. The research results show that top management support and trust between peers enhance the intent of sharing knowledge. We also found that top management support, knowledge-sharing intent, incentives and rewards, and the quality of knowledge have positive relationships with the use of KMS.

The study seeks to investigate the relationship between knowledge sharing and innovation in garment and textile enterprises. While previous research has found many factors influencing knowledge sharing, little research has been done about the influence of knowledge sharing on innovation in enterprises in developing countries like Vietnam. In particular, the textile industry plays an important role in export, but outsourcing is accounting for a high proportion of trade; it is necessary to increase innovation in order to increase the competitive advantage by internal capacity. The data is collected from a survey of 245 employees at 20 textile and garment enterprises in Vietnam to study the knowledge sharing influence on innovation. The methodology includes pilot study and quantitative method. The pilot study tests the questionnaire on the respondents. The quantitative method applies SEM analysis to measure the knowledge sharing influence on innovation. The results identify eight factors that positively impact knowledge sharing: rewarding, teamwork, management support, joy of knowledge sharing, communication, trust, commitment, and information technology. This study also shows that knowledge sharing affects innovation. The main findings are discussed for textile and garment enterprises to apply innovative capacity in the context of increasing global integration.

This paper aims to determine the impact of knowledge creation and sharing on use by librarians in federal universities in Nigeria. The study adopted the survey method of the correlation type, where 518 librarians were surveyed through a close-ended questionnaire, descriptive statistics, Pearson Product Moment Correlation coefficient and multiple regression were used to test the hypotheses. Findings indicate that significant relationships exist between knowledge creation and knowledge sharing (r=0.52), knowledge sharing and knowledge use (r=0.63) and knowledge creation and knowledge use (r=0.52), respectively. Knowledge created and shared by the librarians is used for better work performance. The paper adds value to the existing body of knowledge by proposing the need to understand the importance of knowledge creation and sharing as facilitators of knowledge use by librarians. This will, in turn, enhance service delivery to library patrons, thereby improving library patronage. This paper is limited to knowledge creation and sharing and its impact on knowledge use. Types of knowledge created and channels through which knowledge is shared are outside the focus of this article.
Knowledge creation has become one of core assets for companies' survival and success, companies are putting their effort to find the way to stimulate sharing knowledge among their workers. In this vein, the purpose of this study was to examine the effect of supervisor support and co-worker support on knowledge sharing and the mediating effects of work engagement. 328 employees from varity of organizations located in Korea particiapted for questionnaire survey. Structural equation modeling was used to analyze the data. The result has shown that the static correlation exists between supervisor support, co-worker support and work engagement. Co-worker support had positive influences on knowledge sharing intention. However, supervisor support did not have any influence on knowledge sharing intention. There was a mediate effect of work engagement between both of supervisor and co-worker support and knowledge sharing intention. The study implies that co-worker support is important in order to improve organizational learning and work engagement as a strategy to enhance organizational performance.
This research investigated the effect of human resource practices on knowledge sharing. We developed and tested a mediation model of how human resource practices affect shared vision and codes which facilitates knowledge sharing. A field study of the R&D centers in knowledge-intensive industries showed that commitment-based human resource management systems were positively related to shared vision and codes and knowledge sharing, and the relationship between HR practices and knowledge sharing was fully mediated through shared vision and codes. This study contributed to the extant literature pertaining to the antecedents of knowledge sharing through focusing on the role of HR practices and shared vision and codes.
This study empirically investigated the relationships between servant leadership and key variables (knowledge sharing and individual creativity), and the mediating effect of affective commitment with the survey of 213 Korean employees. Based on the sample of 213 employees, the empirical results are as followings; (1) Servant leadership is positively related to affective commitment, knowledge sharing, and creativity. (2) Affective commitment partially mediates the relationship between servant leadership and knowledge sharing. (3) Affective commitment partially mediates the relationship between servant leadership and creativity. In conclusion, this study confirmed that the servant leader and members with the affective commitment may be best qualified for knowledge sharing and creative performance. When employees recognize that their managers follow the characteristics of servant leadership, then the employees are more likely to absorb in their task, which increases creative performance and knowledge accumulation. Based on the results, this study suggests an ample implication for leaders in any organization to boost their relationships with followers and to enhance their knowledge sharing and creative idea for the growth of organization.
Key factors enhancing transfer behavior of training and knowledge sharing are of great interest to researchers and executives because training transfer and knowledge sharing activities are remarkable predictors of organizational growth. This study investigates the core motivations for boosting transfer behavior of training and knowledge sharing. To empirically test the impacts of employee training, servant leadership and self-efficacy, a survey was conducted in small-medium sized companies. The data (N=292) were analyzed using structural equation modeling analysis. The results indicate that higher employee training positively leads to self-efficacy and transfer behavior of training. Servant leadership is positively leads to self-efficacy, transfer behavior of training, and knowledge sharing. Self-efficacy of employees induces greater transfer behavior of training and knowledge sharing. Finally, transfer behavior of training encourages workers to increase knowledge sharing. This study represents an initial step to examine the psychological mechanism of improving employees' transfer behavior of training and knowledge sharing activities based on the employee training qualities and servant leaderships.
The knowledge society has come to where the knowledge is the source of wealth contrary to the traditional era that labor and capital were the source of wealth. Thus, corporate is accelerating to introduce the knowledge management and to establish the knowledge management system (KMS) in order to effectively manage the knowledge that can be the source of their competitiveness. The purpose of this paper is to identify the factors which affect knowledge sharing and to prove empirically their relationships with the KMS performance. A survey was conducted and data were collected from 220 respondents of 19 organizations which have adopted KMS. Research model and related hypotheses were tested using PLS Graph 3.0. As a result of data analysis, seven hypotheses out of eleven hypotheses were supported. In particular, knowledge sharing is significantly influenced by those knowledge sharing factors such as openness, trust, training, reward system, perceived usefulness, and communication channel. Also, individual impact is significantly affected by knowledge sharing. This study is expected to provide a sound basis for understanding the importance of knowledge sharing to gain organizational as well as individual competitiveness and exploring ways to effectively share knowledge through enhancing the use of KMS in organizations.
