  • This research was conducted to biomechanically analyze Tippelt motion in parallel bars, and establish technical understanding. To achieve that goal, the performances of the Tippelt acts carried out by five world top-class national gymnasts in the parallel bars 3-dimensional cinematographic analysis and EMG analysis were conducted and following conclusion were obtained. The Tippelt motions of excellent national gymnasts perform tap motion through the down swing of a large circular movements, and perform kick-out motion rapidly extending shoulder joint angle and hip joint angle with the trunk in a position close to perpendicular position at the vertical downwardness of the grasping the bars. At this time, if handstand starting the movement is too delayed or rapidly down swung, it was shown that from the initial falling, unnecessary muscular power was wasted in trapezius, anterior deltoid, erector spinae, latissimus dorsi, upper rectus abdominis, lower rectus abdominis. The muscular parts in tap motion generating muscle action potential were pectoralis major, rectus femoris, upper rectus abdominis, lower rectus abdominis, and those in kick-out motion were upper rectus abdominis, lower rectus abdominis, trapezius and anterior deltoid.

  • We present the case of a 38-year-old woman admitted to our outpatient clinic with accelerating back pain and fatigue following a kick to her back by her husband. Upon arrival, we detected ST segment elevation in the D1, aVL, and V2 leads and accelerated idioventricular rhythm. She had pallor and hypotension consistent with cardiogenic shock. We immediately performed coronary angiography and found a long dissection starting from the mid-left main coronary artery and progressing into the mid-left anterior descending (LAD) and circumflex arteries. She was then transferred to the operating room for surgery. A saphenous vein was grafted to the distal LAD. Since the patient was hypotensive under noradrenaline and dopamine infusions, she was transferred to the cardiovascular surgery intensive care unit on an extracorporeal membrane oxygenator and intra-aortic balloon pump. During follow-up, her blood pressure remained low, at approximately 60/40 mmHg, despite aggressive inotropic and mechanical support. On the second postoperative day, asystole and cardiovascular arrest quickly developed, and despite aggressive cardiopulmonary resuscitation, she died.

  • Thus paper summarizes the procedures to develop the downscaled payload kick motor for KSR-III by KARI. Filament winding-a well-known method of manufacturing composite motor case - is adopted to reduce structural weight. Netting and lamination theories are used to determine adequate winding thickness under required internal pressure. Dome shapes are designed considering feasible winding patterns and easiness of mandrel manufacturing. T-800 carbon fiber and Novolac type resin are selected for weight-reduction. The separate mandrels are disassembled and removed after filament winding. The manufacturing process of real payload kick motor is developed from the design experience of downscaled ones.

  • In order to verify the performance of upper stage propulsion system designed to operate in the upper atmosphere, test facility which can simulate high altitude is needed. Cylindrical supersonic exhaust diffuser, which utilizes the momentum of exhaust gas, provides a simple means for providing a low pressure around the propulsion system. This paper describes sub-systems and specification of high altitude test facility developed for the test of KSLV-I kick motor. Performance of the facility has been successfully verified through five times of hot firing tests.

  • Accumulated slag mass was predicted to estimate accurate performance of kick motor (KM) system. The validation of numerical analysis was performed with mass flow rate measured at the 4th ground test of the KM. The study described here includes the internal flow field of KM at various time steps during burning. Slag mass accumulation was analyzed through the aluminum oxide particle paths to predict slag mass deposition. Numerical analysis to solve both flow field and droplet accumulation was performed with Fluent 6.3 program. Analysing the effects of the acceleration, starting position and diameters of the aluminum oxide particles, total slag mass accumulation was obtained.

  • The most important things in the KSLV-I Kick Motor nozzle is a development of flexible seal that is utilized to drive a movable nozzle. Especially, a manufacturing technology of flexible seal is one of the key element in the Kick Motor nozzle development. The method used to produce flexible seal in the Kick Motor is injection method. Mold design technology, rubber injection technic and molding process through flexible seal manufacture has been established. After manufacturing, X-Ray inspection have been carried out to confirm a adhesive and internal array of flexible seal.

  • A hydraulic test on a filament wound case of Kick-Motor was conducted to evaluate the structural stiffness degradation and to confirm the burst performance. Failure criteria have been defined with bursting above 150% of MEOP(Maximum Expected Operation Pressure) and failure in the cylinder. The analysis result showed that filament fiber in the cylinder should be broken at about 2088psig. From a hydraulic test it has been verified that composite case meets the failure requirements, and that the stiffness does not decrease even after a year since the manufacturing.
