  • Pivotal roles of steroid hormones in uterine endometrial function are well established from the mouse models carrying the null mutation of their receptors. Literally androgen belongs to male but interestingly it also detected in female. The fluctuations of androgen levels are observed during reproductive cycle and pregnancy, and the functional androgen receptor is expressed in reproductive organs including uterus. Using high throughput methodology, the downstream genes of androgen have been isolated and revealed correlations between other steroid hormones. In androgen-deficient mice, uterine responses to exogenous gonadotropins are impaired and the number of pups per litter is reduced dramatically. As expected androgen has important role in decidual differentiation through AR. It regulates specific gene network during those cellular responses. Recently we examined the effects of steroid hormonal complex containing high level of androgen. Interestingly, on the contrary to the androgen-alone administration, the hormonal complex did not disturb the decidual reaction and the pubs did not show any morphological abnormality. It is suspected that the complexity of communication between other steroid hormone and their receptors are the reasons. In summary, androgen exists in female blood and it suggests the importance of androgen in female reproduction. However, the complex interactions with other hormones are not fully understood compared with estrogen and progesterone. The further studies to evaluate the possible role of androgen are needed and important to provide the in vivo rational for the prevention of associated pregnancy complications and help human's health.

  • In this paper, we present an algorithm that quickly and effectively estimates orthogonal vanishing points in equirectangular images of urban environment. Our algorithm is based on the RANSAC (RANdom SAmple Consensus) algorithm and on the characteristics of the line segment in the spherical panorama image of the $360^{\circ}$ longitude and $180^{\circ}$ latitude field of view. These characteristics can be used to reduce the geometric ambiguity in the line segment classification as well as to improve the robustness of vanishing point estimation. The proposed algorithm is validated experimentally on a wide set of images. The results show that our algorithm provides excellent levels of accuracy for the vanishing point estimation as well as line segment classification.

  • Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) has been applied to the construction industry for improving the efficiency of material and process management. Most RFID-related studies have focused on building or plant construction. The application of RFID has been limited in pipeline construction projects where materials are stored and stacked across a large construction site. This paper investigates practical issues in pipeline construction, improves the read rates of RFID tags, and tests their utility by putting them into practice. This paper demonstrates the benefits that may be expected with the use of improved RFID tags and the development of an automated pipeline construction management system. As a result, pipeline construction management time decreased by 28 hours per month compared to the conventional method. Cost decreased by about 26%.

  • Obtaining the complete trajectory of the object is a very important task in computer vision applications, such as video surveillance. Previous studies to recover the trajectory between two disconnected trajectory segments, however, do not takes into account the object's motion characteristics and uncertainty of trajectory segments. In this paper, we present a novel approach to recover the trajectory between two disjoint but associated trajectory segments, called goal-directed tracking. To incorporate the object's motion characteristics and uncertainty, the goal-directed state equation is first introduced. Then the goal-directed tracking framework is constructed by integrating the equation to the object tracking and trajectory linking process pipeline. Evaluation on challenging dataset demonstrates that proposed method can accurately recover the missing trajectory between two disconnected trajectory segments as well as appropriately constrain a motion of the object to the its goal(or the target state) with uncertainty.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this research is to identify the factors effecting on the software firm performance through RBV(Resource-Based View) perspective. Methods: The data have been analyzed via the multiple regressions between 3 performance indexes, which are revenue, operational income rate and employment, and 7 independent variables. Results: The results show that company age, capital intensity, training expense, marketing expense, and export revenue effect on the firm performance, whereas R&D expense and debt ratio do not so. Conclusion: This study can contribute the decision process of the investment priority of resources and competencies at the software firms to maximize the return on investment.

  • With the PEO(Plasma electrolytic oxidation) surface treatment, the oxide film of aluminum alloy is growing in a short time. The reflectance measurement to find the oxygen atoms in the oxide could be investigated. In order to form a thicker oxide film, the PEO surface treatment should be uniformly controlled in processing time.

  • The measurement of residual stresses by the hole-drilling method has been commonly used to evaluate residual stresses in structural members. In this method, eccentricity can usually occur between the hole center and rosette gage center. In this study, the error due to the hole eccentricity is predicted using the artificial neural network. The neural network has trained training examples of stress ratio, normalized eccentricity, off-centered direction and stress error using backpropagation learning process. The prediction results of the error using the trained neural network are good agreement with FE analyzed ones.

  • This study was performed to determine antioxidative activity of solvent extracts from medicinal plant. As the result, methanol extract from Saurus chinensis Bail and Glycine soya exhibited superior free radical activity as well as reducing power. In particular, methanol extract from Saurus chinensis Bail showed high free radical activity with 130.08${\mu}g/mL$ as $IC_{50}$ value and strong reducing power at concentration of $400{\mu}g/mL$.
