The floor structure of railway vehicles consists of plywood, rubber, and wood keystone plate which affects on the comfort of passengers. Its structural characteristics has been investigated experimentally and numerically for samples of beam and plate structure, and the real floor structure in this paper. The material properties of etch part measured directly by experiments. The deformation and stress distribution of the sample beams for 6 different joints were sought experimentally and calculated using a commercial software. The numerical calculation shows that the effect of friction and clearance between joints is crucial. The DMU/EMU plates were also experimented and compared for different loading conditions. The structural characteristics of the whole floor structure were calculated numerically. The results show that the method of joint between plywoods is an important factor to decide the strength of the floor structure of railway vehicles.

The background of this paper is the HVDC concept design of Jeju HVDC #2, which will be operated at 2011. The concept design is the first step of HVDC design procedures and the contents handled in this procedure are operation conditions, short circuit ratios(SCR) and interactions between AC network and HVDC. The operating conditions are based on the reliability of HVDC and AC network, SCR is related to HVDC stability and overvoltage and the interaction is between HVDC and other AC equipments, that are FACTS, generator and HVDC. The results of this paper are a keystone of HVDC #2 design.

Sex ratio of a population is a key factor to determine reproductive rate of the population. If the population has skewed sex ratio to the male, the population size may decline gradually at an area which it inhabits, and, furthermore, if a species plays an ecologically important role in its community (e.g., a keystone species in Paine, 1966), its potential reproductive rate will be to form a characterized community because community structure is strongly influenced by the abundance of the ecologically important species (Hughes, 1986). A number of workers (e.g., Bryan et al., 1986 in Nucella lapillus; Spence et al., 1990 in Thais haemastoma) suggested that high frequency and/or late stage of imposex might affect the female mortality and normal reproduction adversely. Consequently, the imposex could affect sex ratio of natural population of some neogastropod including thaisid species. (omitted)

Today in modern Korea, the preferred modern social role for many modern women is that of modern housewife. This move to the role of housewife is a change in more than just a role; it also reflects a deep and fundamental change that has taken place in the social and economic roles of married women. This shift in economic activities and the gender roles they help produce speaks of a deep and profound process of transformation for all of Korea. Traditionally, a woman was a member of a family premised upon group production as well as group consumption. The role of jubu is derived almost exclusively from market forces and bases her identity and actions upon those forces. This distinction is crucial because it means Korean women are finding that they are no longer as central to the existence of the family. Modern life situations have altered a womans role by making consumption, not production by the woman herself, the keystone of modern families.

Restoration to improve the ecological quality of Mt. Nam was explored in a viewpoint of restoration in both landscape and ecosystem levels. A restoration plan in landscape level was based on the result on the land-use pattern in Mt. Nam including its surrounding area and that in ecosystem level on the ecological quality of each landscape element. A plant to construct the green network, which extending from Mt. Nam to the Han river through the Yongsan family park and through the Eungbong urban park was prepared as a restoration project in landscape level to improve the ecological quality of Mt. Nam as an ecological park. On the other hand, a plan for restoration and creation of biotop as a restoration project in ecosystem level was also prepared to improve the ecological quality of each green area consisting green network. Green areas composing green network include keystone green area (Mt. Nam), green stations (Yongsan family park, Eungbong urban park, and the han river citizen's park), and green pathway (or ecological corridor) connecting those green areas.

Functional requirements and design parameters were not clarified in the early design process. Design axiom shows some difficulty for larger system designs, such as the butterfly valve, which is basically carried out by an incremental and iterative process. A numerical analysis was carried out on fluid flows in a butterfly valve, by using ANSYS-FLOTRAN. Characteristics of the butterfly flows at different valve disk opening angles, with a uniform incoming velocity, were investigated. The entire analysis is decomposed to satisfy the independence axiom. This paper resolves the problems associated with the establishment of a systematic design process.

Community involvement is to be the keystone of primary health care, Unfortunately, efforts to promote it failed in many countries. Author inquired into the reasons why such efforts fail, and the alternative strategies for effectively promoting it in Korean situation today. In doing so, the concept of community involvement is clarified as an amalgamation of two different concepts; one is that of the community development, and the other is that of approaches for overcoming the alienation of the people from the health care process. Stategies of community involvement in Korea so far followed the line of the community development, e.g. village health worker. It loses, however, the feasibility as Korea has experinced so cial and economic developpment. The strategies of the second line of thought is now more feasible; empowering the people by providing more information and enhancing comitment to health, improving acceptabilty of community involvemt on the part of the health professionals and the bureaucrats, and building the mechanism of community involvement into the health policy-making process.

Building skins are expanding even beyond theirfunctions as a simple boundary between the exterior and interior and into the realm of linguistic functions thanks to the development of media art. LED has been used as material on outer walls following the advancement of building materials, so the outerskins of large buildings are evolving into a messenger of language capable of communication. In big cities, buildings send out video images to enable communication between people and architecture, which plays a huge role in determining the identity of a building beyond simple advertising. Such media fa?ade technologies can be understood based on the concept of outerskin change, which refers to the idea that animals change the colors or textures of their skins to show their various states. In addition, various message delivery functions in human clothes should be included in such a discussion. We need to research on the possibilities of seeing media facades for their information delivery function and expanding them into information delivery between buildings as well as just between buildings and people.

This study aims to present a direction for the efficient TV commercial marketing strategy at the market by analyzing the relationship between technology and the smart-phones' TV commercial especially 'iPhone series' and 'galaxy S series'. As the results of the factor analysis of the hardwares, slogans and TV commercial for the target smart-phones, TV commercial is the way of the expression for the technology through the meaning of the value. And the meaning of value is defined by reclassifying the expression technique of each scene of TV commercial into nouns and adjectives. Setting a slogan is very important because it is making memorable motto or phrase for the consumer and it decide the image of the product. So the correct configuration of the slogan is a keystone that is important for creating a TV commercial and has a profound impact on product image formation.

Since developing digital technology requires new skills in digital literacy, digital competence also has become a keystone in English classes. This study explores three aspects of English as a Foreign Language (EFL) learners' digital confidence: information and data literacy, communication and collaboration, and digital content creation, based on the European Digital Competence Framework for Citizens (DigComp). The participants were 150 Korean college students enrolled in two general English classes, and their English proficiency levels were from basic to advanced; each level consisted of 30 participants. In order to assess their digital confidence, I designed a Google survey form and collected data during two semesters. The survey results revealed that the participants had highest digital confidence in information and data literacy and overall, the female participants showed higher digital confidence than their male counterparts. It also showed that the learners' English proficiency and computer skills are important factors.
