  • In the manufacturing process of HDD, ball swaging method is commonly used to joint the Head Gimbal Assembly(HGA) with the arm of the actuator. The hub on the HGA is placed into the hole of the actuator arm, and the hub and arm is bonded by the pressure of steel ball. The pressure for plastic deformation on the baseplate causes the undesirable deformation on HGA, such as tilting, flying height change of head. After obtaining the key parameters that have large sensitivity on the swaging process, the optimal shape of baseplate is proposed to increase the static performance during swaging process. Contribution of the proposed design for the swaging performance is verified by contact simulation with elasto-plastic deformation.

  • Reducing CO2 into high value fuels and chemicals is considered a great challenge in the 21st century. Efficiently activating CO2 will lead to an important way to utilize it as a resource. This article reviews the latest progress of g-C3N4 based catalysts for CO2 reduction. The different synthetic methods of g-C3N4 are briefly discussed. Article mainly introduces methods of g-C3N4 shape control, element doping, and use of oxide compounds to modify g-C3N4. Modified g-C3N4 has more reactive sites, which can significantly reduce the probability of photogenerated electron hole recombination and improve the performance of photocatalytic CO2 reduction. Considering the literature, the hydrothermal method is widely used because of its simple equipment and process and easy control of reaction conditions. It is foreseeable that hydrothermal technology will continue to innovate and usher in a new period of development. Finally, the prospect of a future reduction of CO2 by g-C3N4-based catalysts is predicted.

  • The effects of the interaction between flow field and heat transfer caused by the longitudinal vortices are experimentally investigated using a five hole probe and a transient liquid crystal technique. The test facility consists of a wind tunnel with vortex generators protruding from a bottom surface and a mesh heater. In order to control the strength of the longitudinal vortices, the angle of attack of vortex generators used in the present experiment is 20$^{\circ}$, and the spacing between the vortex generators is 25mm. The height and cord length of the vortex generator is 20mm and 50mm, respectively. Three-component mean velocity measurements are made using a f-hole probe system, and the surface temperature distribution is measured by the hue capturing method using a transient liquid crystal technique. The transient liquid crystal technique in measuring heat transfer has become one of the most effective ways in determining the full surface distributions of heat transfer coefficients. The key point of this technique is to convert the inlet flow temperature into an exponential temperature profile using the mesh heater set up in the wind tunnel. The conclusions obtained in the present experiment are as follows: The two maximum heat transfer values exist over the whole domain, and as the longitudinal vortices move to the farther downstream region, these peak values show the decreasing trends. These trends are also observed in the experimental results of other researchers to have used the uniform heat flux method.

  • A design method for a perforated panel is suggested to reduce the level of incident noise without obstructing the flow of incoming fluid. The key idea was to insert an array of 1/4 wavelength tubes around the holes of the perforate panel. First, various case studies were performed for a unit model with only one hole. In order to avoid any increase in the panel thickness, the unit model was vertically divided into three layers, and only the middle layer was used as the design domain. The number and array of 1/4 wavelength tubes connected to the hole were optimized to obtain the widest effective frequency range in the transmission loss curve as possible. Then, the optimally designed unit model was converted to a periodic array in the perforated panel to achieve the design goals. Even if the target frequency and the target transmission loss were set to 1000 Hz and 10 dB, respectively, the suggested design method for the a perforated panel could achieve noise reduction for various target values.

  • Purpose: In the gradient echo EPI the conventional T2*-weighted image is poor in signal as well distorted by the field inhomogeneity. By acquiring a proton density image in addition to th T2*-weighted image at the same scan, the fMRI processing can be improved. Method: The central region of the k space is acquired twice at different time points after th RF pulse while acquiring the other regions onc as described in Fig. 1. In Fig. 1 the segment numbers are chronological. Then, we can get two images of different contrast by interleaving th central region in the k space as done in the dua contrast FSE.

  • Recently, many researches on the development of super-hydrophobic surface have been concentrated on the fabrication of nano-patterned products. Nano-patterned mold is a key to replicate nano-patterned products by mass production process such as injection molding and UV molding. The present paper proposes the new fabricating method of nano-patterned mold at low cost. The nano-patterned mold was fabricated by electroforming the anodic aluminum oxide membrane filled with UV curable resin in nano-hole by capillary phenomenon. As a result, the final mold with nano-patterns which have the holes with the diameter of 100~200 nm was fabricated. Furthermore, the UV-molded products with clear nano- patterns which have the pillars with the diameter of 100~200nm were achieved.

  • Blasting technology aims to maximize digging efficiency as well as minimize vibration and noise. So, it is key point of blasting technology to raise blasting effect as much as possible and reduce vibration and noise and the design of PLHBM that is the tunnel blasting method having such merit was studied in this paper. PLHBM has the excellent blasting efficiency as it drills the empty hole with high caliber of 250~1,000mm at centre cut, contributes to blasting vibration reduction effect much and can be usefully applied to tunnel blasting sites. So it is judged that it enables the development of tunnel blasting method to be advanced one more step by studying and suggesting the design method of PLHBM.

  • The bond strength between composite laminates and concrete is a key factor that controls the behavior of concrete members strengthened with fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) sheets, which can be affected by several parameters such as thermal stresses and surface preparation. This article presents the result of an experimental study on the bond strength between FRP sheets and concrete at ambient temperature after specimens had been exposed to elevated temperatures of up to $200^{\circ}C$. For this purpose, 30 specimens of plain concrete with dimensions of $150{\times}150{\times}350mm$ were prepared. Three different conventional surface preparation methods (sandblasting, wire brushing and hole drilling) were considered and compared with a new efficient method (fiber implantation). Deformation field during each experiment was monitored using particle image velocimetry. The results showed that, the specimens which were prepared by conventional surface preparation methods, preserved their bond integrity when exposed to temperature below glass transition temperature of epoxy resin (about $60^{\circ}C$). Beyond this temperature, the bond strength and stiffness decreased significantly (about 50%) in comparison with control specimens. However, the specimens prepared by the proposed method displayed higher bond strengths of up to 32% and 90% at $25^{\circ}C$ and $200^{\circ}C$, respectively.

  • In this paper, four specimens of CFST column joints with endplates and long bolts are tested in the scenario of progressive collapse. Flush endplate and extended endplate are both adopted in this study. The experimental results show that increasing the thickness of the endplate could improve the behavior of the joint, but delay the mobilization of catenary action. The thickness of the endplate should not be relatively thick in comparison to the diameter of the bolts, otherwise catenary action would not be mobilized or work effectively. Effective bending deformation of the endplate could help the formation and development of catenary action in the joints. The performance of flexural action in the joint would affect the formation of catenary action in the joint. Extra middle-row bolts set at the endplates and structural components set below the bottom beam flange should be used to enhance the robustness of joints. A special weld access hole between beam and endplate should be adopted to mitigate the chain damage potential of welds. It is suggested that the structural components of joints should be independent of each other to enhance the robustness of joints. Based on the component method, a formula calculating the stiffness coefficient of preloaded long bolts was proposed whose results matched well with the experimental results.

  • This study was carried out to develop eco-friendly wood street lamp (EFWSL) by using wood resources stacked in the forests after tree tending operations which were mostly abandoned, but economical as renewable wood resources for developing the wood coated street lamps with the effects of cost reduction and their attractive appearances. This study has led to the development of key compact structures of street-lighting wood poles (shaft) using laminated timber. The core technique in this study is related with producing the more stable wood poles (shaft) with the hole inside than wood poles exposed under the natural environment through applicable process to protect the wood from bursting and splitting. We also comprehensively developed the method to conserve the timber durability of wood shaft and connect the wood shaft with groove, race way to be located in the groove, locking ring, current stabilizer connected to the groove and luminaire support arm, base and hand-hole which was partly used in combination with steel materials and wood. Also we increased the utilization of abandoned and stacked woods after thinning in the forests such as Pinus densiflora, Larix leptolepis, and Pinus koraiensis plantations by maximizing the value of these natural wood resources as main materials of eco-friendly street lightings with the effects of cost reduction and attractive appearances and also the expectation of advertising effects of street lightings developed in this study.
